Race 1: RAY JACKSON MEMORIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP – 800M
 
FRENCH OCEAN – Slow to begin. Raced four wide without cover.
 
KURU LASS – Raced three wide without cover. Held up for a short distance upon straightening.
 
ZOOMFIELD – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and got its head into the adjoining stall for a short period. Laid out under pressure over the final 200m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse returned to the enclosure with blood in its mouth as a result of head trauma.
 
LIGHTNING MOLLY – Began awkwardly.
 
VINASTA – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start and got its head into the adjoining stall for a short period.
 
ME AS I AM – Raced four wide with cover.
 
SUMMER FLOWER – Bumped between runners on jumping. Had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of VINASTA, which shifted out to improve passing the 200m. B. Stewart, the rider of VINASTA, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care when shifting ground.
 
BARCAROLE – Raced three wide with cover.
 
Race 2: SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FRUIT SHOP MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1200M
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow jockey L. Tarrant, the rider of 3rd placegetter STONEFISH, to view the photo finish image. After doing so he indicated that he was satisfied with the Judges’ decision.
 
SAVSGOLD – Cramped for room passing the 1100m and bumped by CHRISTMAS CREEK, which was tightened for room and taken in by KING OF THE DESERT.
 
CHRISTMAS CREEK – Forced inwards and had to be checked when tightened for room by KING OF THE DESERT passing the 1100m. R. Wiggins, the rider of KING OF THE DESERT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that at that point he permitted his mount to shift in under hard riding when insufficiently clear of CHRISTMAS CREEK. Jockey Wiggins’ licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence midnight Saturday 6 July and expire midnight Sunday 14 July 2019. In determining penalty stewards took into account jockey Wiggins’ good record and that the degree of carelessness and interference were in the low range.
 
PADDLEPOP – Laid out shortly after the start and bumped with RAGING ROYAL.
 
MISS UNDERSTANDING – Overraced in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained from heels on a number of occasions.
 
MEXICAN YELL – Very fractious in the barriers and got its head down prior to the start being effected. Began awkwardly and lost ground. Overraced when racing in a rearward position approaching the 1000m.
 
RAGING ROYAL – Bumped by PADDLEPOP shortly after the start.
 
Race 3: JUST FITNESS CLASS 1 PLATE – 1666M
 
The start of this race was delayed to allow for an interstate event.
 
ETIKAAL – Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
CASINO BEACH – Began awkwardly. Slightly inconvenienced passing the 400m by HAALAN , which shifted in.
 
FRANKEL STAR – Bumped on jumping.
 
HAALAN – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey B. Stewart explained that the gelding travelled reasonably well throughout the event, however, when placed under pressure passing the 500m the gelding was one-paced and left flat-footed and proved disappointing. He added that in his opinion the gelding may be better suited racing nearer to the lead where it can dictate the tempo to suit. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
HOLLYWOOD ROSE – Momentarily raced in restricted room passing the 400m when CASINO BEACH was taken in by HAALAN.
 
KIRIANA – Bumped on jumping.
 
Race 4: JG MULLAN CONSTRUCTIONS QTIS 3YO CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1350M
 
HEMSTED – When asked to explain the horse’s performance, jockey J. Lloyd stated that the gelding was racing in blinkers for the first time today and proved disappointing over the final 400m after racing keenly in the early stages of the event, which in his opinion may have had some effect on its finishing effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
LADY RINGO – Slow to begin.
 
CREATIVE MOSS – Began awkwardly.
 
MAKEMYDAY – Began awkwardly.
 
Following the running of this event the track was upgraded to GOOD 4.
 
Race 5: HOTEL KERWICK BENCHMARK 70 H'CAP – 1000M
 
ELJETEM – Slow to begin.
 
SHARPAMAL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Had to be steadied passing the 800m when racing in restricted room to the inside of EVICT. Went to the line without being fully tested after improving onto heels over the final 100m.
 
BARNSLEY – Began very awkwardly, making contact initially with the barrier partition and them bumping EVICT.
 
JARDIN ROUGE – Raced three wide with cover.
 
DISTRICT – Overraced when racing in a rearward trailing position and got its head up on a number of occasions.
 
MR HENNESSY – Shortly after the start was bumped heavily on the hind quarters by EVICT, which was taken in by BARNSLEY. Raced three wide without cover. Laid in under pressure passing the 150m.
 
EVICT – Bumped on jumping. Held up rounding the home turn. Again disappointed for a run passing the 200m and was shifted wider on the track in an attempt to improve, however, over the final 80m was again disappointed for a run and went to the line without being fully tested.
 
PINCH MEMORY – Laid out passing the 150m.
 
LIPS ’N HIPS – Had to be steadied passing the 150m when racing in restricted room between MR HENNESSY, which laid in under pressure, and PINCH MEMORY, which laid out under pressure. D. Smith, the rider of PINCH MEMORY, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
Race 6: GOODNA RUGBY LEAGUE OLD BOYS CLASS 1 PLATE – 1350M
 
Anderson Heathcote Racing was fined $100 for failing to declare apprentice J. Hodge as the rider of SEQUABLUR by the prescribed time.
 
GREY SKIES – Bounded in the air as the start was effected.
 
IPSO NEM FELEK – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
SHE’S UP BEAT – Raced four wide without cover throughout.
 
SMOKIN’ HUSSAY – Slow to begin.
 
CALIFORNIA SPYDER – Began awkwardly.
 
NEWTON – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
BROWN LINES – Raced five wide without cover throughout. After travelling wide throughout the event, commenced to weaken after passing the 600m and finished a distant last. Trainer G. Blake was advised that in light of the horse’s non-competitive performances today and in recent starts, the gelding’s nomination would be refused at metropolitan and provincial TAB venues until such time as its form improves to an acceptable and consistent standard at country TAB venues.
 
Race 7: GLEN INNES RUGBY LEAGUE OLD BOYS BENCHMARK 58 H'CAP – 1200M
 
FLAMIN’ MOGUL – Overraced in the early stages and then passing the 900m had to be checked severely and shifted wider on the track to avoid the heels of DAUNTING DUCHESS and REPATRIATE and made heavy contact with TEMUJIN’S MOON. The horse then continued to overrace, proving very difficult to ride. Again had to be steadied away from heels approaching the 400m.
 
ACCOUNTANT – Began awkwardly. Held up over the final 150m. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
REPATRIATE – Passing the 900m, after being crossed by TOECANARGIE MAN, initially when that runner steadied the tempo, became awkwardly placed at heels and had to be shifted wider on the track. At a subsequent inquiry apprentice H. Phillips, the rider of TOECANARGIE MAN, was reprimanded under AR131(d) for excessively slowing the pace and advised that, in light of the nature of her ride, she would be referred to the Racing Queensland Riding Skills Panel for further tutelage.
 
TEMUJIN’S MOON – Bumped heavily by FLAMIN’ MOGUL passing the 900m.
 
COURT RULES – Took a step back as the start was effected and was slow to begin. Had to be steadied away from the heels of LADY CHICAGO passing the 900m.
 
NAKANAI – Began awkwardly.
