Acting under the powers of LR14 stewards granted permission to Brendon Newport to ride RIDEONABIGJETPLANE in Race 4.
 
Race 1: IPSWICH EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE QTIS 2YO H'CAP – 1666M
 
TREASURE OF GOLD – Overraced in the early stages.
 
READY FOR MAGIC – J. Byrne reported that his mount was fractious in the barriers, jumped away awkwardly and settled further back in the field than he anticipated, however, when the pace quickened from the 600m his mount failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing from that point. He added that it did not run out a strong 1666m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant findings.
 
IGOR – Held up rounding the home turn.
 
MANDEVILLE ROCKER – Inclined to hang in in the early part of the home straight.
 
NICKS – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn. Shifted out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
Race 2: SCHWEPPES BENCHMARK 85 H'CAP – 1666M
 
MILK MAN – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight. Rider R. Maloney stated that the gelding was not striding comfortably during the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the off foreleg. Trainer M. Smith was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
 
ZOFONIC DANCER – Momentarily hampered when tiring rounding the home turn. Lost the off fore plate in running.
 
Race 3: WHITTINGTON @ GRANDVIEW STUD OPEN H'CAP – 2150M
 
FIGHTING TEO – As B. Stewart was to be overweight, J.  Byrne was substituted as the rider of the gelding. B. Stewart was fined $400. Inclined to hang in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIR BARNABUS – Momentarily steadied approaching the 100m when racing to the outside of KAONIC, which shifted out slightly.
 
MY GIULIANO – As C. Bayliss was to be overweight, A. Thompson was substituted as the rider of the gelding. C. Bayliss was fined $200.
 
Race 4: SIRROMET C,G&E BENCHMARK 78 H'CAP – 1200M
 
TAWFIQ BOY – Laid inwards in the straight.
 
SECRET SPIRIT – R. Maloney reported at scale that his mount was disappointing in the home straight, with it failing to respond to his riding, and added that in his view SECRET SPIRIT will take a fitness benefit from today’s race, being first up from a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have thumps.
 
THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Slow to begin.
 
RIDEONABIGJETPLANE – Slow to begin.
 
Race 5: FOLLOW RACING @IPSWICHTURFCLUB CLASS 6 PLATE – 1350M
 
CARRY ON RINGO – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Had to be restrained from the heels of SMUG SATISFACTION when the pace eased near the 800m. Had to be severely checked to avoid the heels of SMUG SATISFACTION approaching the 600m when SMUG SATISFACTION relinquished the lead to POTRO DURO and the pace slowed. In this incident CARRY ON RINGO shifted in slightly when being restrained.
 
UNCONDITIONAL – Slow to begin. Clipped the heels of CARRY ON RINGO and lost ground near the 500m when that runner shifted in slightly whilst being restrained when the pace slowed. Stewards inquired into the reasons for this incident and after taking initial evidence adjourned the matter to enable them to obtain sectional times of the relevant stages.
 
MARMARIS – Overraced in the early stages.
 
SMUG SATISFACTION – Handed up the lead to POTRO DURO approaching the 600m, resulting in the tempo slowing and SMUG SATISFACTION having to check to avoid the heels of POTRO DURO.
 
Race 6: RAY WHITE IPSWICH F&M BENCHMARK 78 H'CAP – 1200M
 
LOVE SQUIRRELS – Had to be resaddled behind the barriers. Slow to begin.
 
VINCERE VOLARE – Raced three wide with cover. A. Mallyon reported that he felt something may have been amiss with the horse’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Lost the nearside front plate in running.
 
MADDI ROCKS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.
 
YEAHNAH – Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers and was passed fit to race.
 
KITTY DAMOUR – Raced three wide without cover.
 
ALL SHIRAZ – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight and approaching the 200m dipped when it made an awkward stride and then had to alter course to the inside of YEAHNAH in order to improve.
 
Race 7: EYE LINER STAKES – 1200M
 
DEEP IMAGE – Raced three wide without cover.
 
BOOMSARA – Held up approaching and rounding the home turn and in the home straight until attempting a narrow run near the 100m between DEEP IMAGE, which shifted in slightly, and FIERY HEIGHTS, which resulted in FIERY HEIGHTS being bumped heavily.
 
MISHANI HUSTLER – Raced three wide with cover.
 
FIERY HEIGHTS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Bumped heavily near the 100m.
 
MR BELLAGIO – Raced three wide with cover.
 
WINTER PASSAGE – Held up rounding the home turn. Had to be checked approaching the 100m when tightened for room by BANDIPUR. J. Guthmann-Chester, the rider of BANDIPUR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shift in at that point when insufficiently clear of WINTER PASSAGE. J. Guthmann-Chester’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 25 July and expire at midnight on Sunday 2 August 2020.
 
ATOUCHMORE – Raced three wide with cover.
 
Race 8: CARLTON MID QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1350M
 
STUTTERING – Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the barrier partition.
 
EURO BELLE – Approaching the 100m had to alter course to the outside of the heels of STUTTERING in order to improve.
 
SCOUT – Raced three wide without cover.
 
VINCO – Bumped on jumping.
 
ROMAN AUREUS – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped VINCO.
 
Race 9: TAB GAI WATERHOUSE CLASSIC – 1350M
 
RIVER RACER – Slow to begin. Held up rounding the home turn.
 
TWITCHY FRANK – As R. Maloney was to be overweight, A. Mallyon was substituted as the rider of the mare. R. Maloney was fined $200. Commenced to overrace near the 1200m and thereafter proved difficult to settle. Tightened for room and had to be steadied near the 400m when racing in restricted room between PERSUADER and STROME, both of which shifted ground.
 
AKAGE – Slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly. A. Spinks reported at scale that his mount hung in for a major part of the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have heat stress.
 
SKATE TO PARIS – Slow to begin.
 
ROSIE POSIE – Had to be steadied near the 400m when racing behind TWITCHY FRANK, when that runner was restrained.
 
AMICITIA – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Had to be steadied passing the 400m when tightened for room between RIVER RACER and AKAGE, which was hanging in.
 
LUNAR LIGHT – Raced three wide without cover throughout. Momentarily steadied over the concluding stages when awkwardly placed on the heels of RIVER RACER after shifting in and away from AMICITIA.
 
SUNDAY SASSY – Slow into stride. Had difficulty obtaining clear running over the final 300m.
