SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Gatton Saturday 25th June 2022 – Race 8 Gatton Cup – BOLD DELAGO: Trainer G Hay advised Stewards in the days subsequent to the event BOLD DELAGO had sustained swelling to its nearside eye which he attributed to being a factor in the horse hanging in for the majority of the home straight. Mr Hay indicated he would now be adding a bubble pricker to BOLD DELAGO’S approved racing gear.
 
GENERAL
Stewards permitted the following weight variations:
Race 1: RIVER PARK – D McGillivray - 55kg (claiming only 2kg of 3kg allowance)
 
Jockey L Tarrant was reprimanded under AR227(a) in that he was negligent when incorrectly accepting dual riding engagements in Race 5.
 
Race 1: GREAT NORTHERN Maiden Plate 2500 metres
 
MR REDDINGTON – Near the 1900m, when racing keenly, had to be restrained from the heels of ROYAL GEORGE, which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice M Castle, rider of ROYAL GEORGE, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding in this incident.
 
PORT MOURANT – Shortly after the start obliged to race in restricted room between JEWEL FLIGHT and ROYAL GEORGE. Raced wide from the 800m.
 
ROWLETT – Over-raced in the early stages of the event.
 
MASTER OF MENACE (NZ) – Over-raced in the early stages of the event.
 
RIVER PARK – Following an application from trainer A Chau Stewards permitted apprentice D McGillivray to claim only 2kgs of his 3kg allowance. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
OCEANARIUM – Began very awkwardly and lost ground. Trainer D Trindall was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion above the right eye.
 
VANCITY – Slow to begin. Trainer G Baker was advised a warning would be placed on the horse’s barrier manners.
 
 
 
Race 2: SEVEN QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1350 metres
 
After being loaded into the barriers, the near fore plate of ENTERPRISE JEWEL shifted resulting in the horse being removed from the barriers and the plate refitted. As a result, the start of this event was delayed approximately 4 minutes.
 
BOLD ENFORCER – R Wiggins, rider of BOLD ENFORCER, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.
 
CHANCE AT MIDNIGHT – Raced three wide without cover throughout the event.
 
JOLLY RUPERT – Began very awkwardly and then lost ground when crowded for room by BOLD ENFORCER, which jumped out and TOOMUCHINFORMATION, which jumped in.
 
TOOMUCHINFORMATION – Laid in near the 1000m momentarily crowding JADE’S MISSION which had to be steadied and lost ground.
 
ANATINI – After being slow to begin was then hampered between JADE’S MISSION and VIRGO VISION, both of which shifted ground. Near the 800m became awkwardly placed at the heels of VIRGO VISION and had to be restrained.
 
ENTERPRISE JEWEL – After being loaded into the barriers the near fore plate shifted, resulting in the horse being removed from the barriers and the plate refitted. Lost near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
JADE'S MISSION – Near the 1000m lost ground when crowded for room.
 
PRETTY FLASH – Began awkwardly.
 
SWANIC BOOM – Rider M Hellyer reported it was not his intention to lead, however after beginning very well and with no speed shown by runners drawn to the inside or outside, he was obliged to take up the leading position.
 
 
 
Race 3: SIRROMET QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1350 metres
 
BALTRAY – Bumped at the start.
 
BURLESY – Bumped and taken wider rounding the home turn when BALTRAY shifted out to improve. Laid in under pressure approaching the winning post resulting in UNO WHAT I’M SAYIN being placed in restricted racing room and having to be steadied.
 
HEART OF MARBLE – Slow to begin. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
OUR POLARIS – Slow to begin. Raced keenly for a short distance near the 800m.
 
CLOUDY MISS – Jumped in at the start and bumped BALTRAY. Raced wide in the early stages.
 
FLYING JUSTICE – Rider M Hellyer reported the horse travelled well to the 500m however when placed under pressure became awkward in its action and for that reason, he did not fully test FLYING JUSTICE in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer W Hulbert was advised FLYING JUSTICE must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. Mr Hulbert indicated to Stewards the horse would now be leaving the stable  
 
PEARLS 'N' PIMMS – Approaching the 900m commenced to over-race and had to be restrained from the heels of UNO WHAT I’M SAYIN and consequently a short distance later shifted out and bumped TAVIESLASS.
 
SHE'S ABLAZING – Began awkwardly contacting the outside barrier partition and lost ground.
 
TAVIESLASS – Slow to begin.
 
UNO WHAT I’M SAYIN - Placed in restricted racing room approaching the winning post and had to be steadied.
 
 
Race 4: SCHWEPPES Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BASIL JUNIOR – Raced three wide without cover throughout.
 
OSO GOOD – A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the horse had bled from both nostrils for the second time. Trainer D Trindall was advised under the provisions of AR79(6) OSO GOOD would now incur a lifetime ban from racing.
 
ARTIE'S DREAMTIME – Began awkwardly.
 
CHARLIE'S CASE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly near the 900m and had to restrained from the heels of TWYFORD for several strides, and then was inclined to race ungenerously for a short distance thereafter.
 
AHIKA – Began awkwardly, jumped in and bumped TWYFORD.
 
DECLASSIFY – Slow to begin.
 
MITTSY – Slow to begin. Laid out in the early stages of the home straight.
 
SPRESSI – Laid in under pressure over the final 100m.
 
TWYFORD – Bumped on jumping and lost ground. Near the 900m improved onto the heels of MR FINNIGAN and shifted out. Rider M Hellyer reported the horse was inclined lay in for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 5: RAY WHITE IPSWICH Class 1 Handicap 1200 metres
 

FASTNET JACK – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Inclined to lay out from the 700m.
 
PHILLY SPECIAL – Slow to begin.
 
SHNITTY – Held up rounding the home turn and early stages of the home straight before being disappointed for a run to the inside of PHILLY SPECIAL near the 200m and was then obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of ASTROPHYSICS leaving the 100m.

RAKKAUS – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.

ROCKIN' ARTIE – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Inconvenienced approaching the home turn when taken wider on the track by SASANQUAS.
 
BEAN A WHILE – Bumped by SHNITTY approaching the 100m. Rider W Peel dismounted on pulling up when the saddle on the horse shifted significantly to the off-side.
 
BANKROLL BABE – Slow to begin.
 
GALA RAIN – Began awkwardly.
 
SASANQUAS – Crowded at the start and lost ground when ASTROPHYSICS jumped in. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Rider M Castle reported the horse was inclined to lay out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J Harris was advised a warning would be placed on the mare for hanging out.
 
RIVA RIALTO – Slow to begin.
 
ASTROPHYSICS – Jumped in at the start. Laid in under pressure over final 150m.
 
 
Race 6: TAB BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1350 metres
 
Following the original semaphored placings of 6-4-5-9-3, the judge, prior to correct weight, amended the placings to read 6-4-5 and dead heat 3 and 9 for fourth place.
 
GINJA – Slow to begin. Checked from the heels of IN GREAT NIC near the 1000m when the pace steadied. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
 
RIVER ROCKET – Raced three wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
NISHIKORI – Change of tactics, to be ridden more conservatively at the start. After beginning awkwardly, ridden accordingly with cover. Checked from the heels of GREEK STAR near the 1000m when the pace steadied. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the near hind leg, consistent with having been galloped on during the race.
 
GWAN SO – Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event.

AND OVER AGAIN – Very slow to begin then became awkwardly placed at the heels of NISHIKORI and shifted out. Raced keenly when the pace steadied near the 1000m. Rider L Cassidy advised Stewards the gelding travelled well throughout the event and despite the slow tempo in the early and middle stages did not finish the race off as well as expected.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
OUR FRAULEIN – Checked from the heels of NISHOKORI near the 1000m when the pace steadied.

AMORE PRIMUS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
DOOMANI – Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 7: RIVER 94.9FM RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap 1350 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight M Castle, rider of fifth placegetter STATIC LIFT, viewed the patrol footage over the concluding stages before electing to take the matter no further.
 
HERECUM DA DRUMS – Slow to begin.
 
MOZART'S RIVAL – Approaching the finish line, laid out marginally and had to be steadied from the heels of THINK I’M DREAMING, which was taken in slightly by runners to the outside.
 
THAT'S A MIRACLE – Raced three wide throughout.
 
BIRKIN BLACK – Raced three wide throughout.
 
FANTOME LADY – Slow to begin.
 
SIENNA'S AWARD – Held up for clear running from the entrance of the home straight until a point leaving the 200m. Approaching the finish line momentarily was taken in by TYCOON DANCER.
 
THINK I'M DREAMING – Trainer J Smerdon was fined $200 under LR67 for the late declaration of rider on the horse. Improved onto heels near the 1100m and was steadied. Obliged to alter course to the inside approaching the 150m to secure clear running.
 
TRACKMAN – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
TYCOON DANCER – When asked to comment on the apparent improved performance trainer S Sixtus advised she was happy with the horse’s two most recent starts, given that the horse was caught racing wide at both starts and that TYCOON DANCER was more relaxed today away from its home track at Warwick where the horse was inclined to over-race at its most recent start on Sunday 26th June. She added that TYCOON DANCER is better suited to racing on firmer tracks. Stewards noted the explanation of Ms Sixtus.
 
TICINO BELLE – Raced three wide throughout. Approaching the 150m was brushed by SIENNA’S AWARD which shifted out to improve.
 
STATIC LIFT – Approaching the finish line momentarily crowded for room by SIENNA’S AWARD which was taken in by TYCOON DANCER. S Apthorpe, rider of TYCOON DANCER, was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.
 
BOOM ROCKER – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 8: KINGSLEY LAWSON LAWYERS Class 6 Handicap 1680 metres
 
SHEPARD – Near the 1400m, when over-racing, had to be restrained from the heels of HOPEFUL STAR.
 
AVOCA – Bumped shortly after the start by CAPODANNO which was taken out by JACKSPRATT. In the early stages was restrained from heels when over-racing. When racing three wide with cover in the early stages, progressed forward and raced wide without cover from the 800m.
 
JACKSPRAT – Jumped out at the start and bumped CAPODANNO.
 
LADY RINGO – Slow to begin. Leaving the 1400m was steadied from the heels of REMUNERATIVE and momentarily shifted wider on the track.
 
LITTLE JERRY – Slow to begin.
 
REMUNERATIVE – Near the 1400m, when over-racing, had to be restrained from the heels of SHEPHARD and shifted out.
 
CAPODANNO – Bumped at the start and lost ground. Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 9: VALE SONNY ROBERTS Class 1 Plate 1680 metres
 
ASHER – Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
LEAVE ME ALONG – Began awkwardly and jumped in at the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
GENERAL WOLFFE – From the wide barrier was restrained shortly after the start to rearward position closer to the rails.
 
JETFOIL – Rider J Byrne reported the horse refused to settle in the early and middle stages. Rider Byrne was of the opinion this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance of JETFOIL.
 
DREAM CANDY – Began awkwardly and bumped the outside barrier partition and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CONGENIAL MISTRESS – Slow to begin.
