SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From GOLD COAST 17-12-22
 
Stable foreperson Mr B Killion reported that upon returning to the stables following its race, MORIOKA bled from both nostrils. Mr Killion was advised that MORIOKA would now incur 3 month ban from racing and prior to racing again would be required to gallop 1000m in the presence of Stewards.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards approved the following overweight allowances at today’s meeting-
 
Race 2- ABBEY BRIDGE- L Dittman +1/2kg.
Race 6- QUEEN LUWELL- L Dittman +1/2kg.
Race 6- LA SOEUR- M Harley +1/2kg.
Race 7- MYCHYNA- L Dittman +1/2kg.
 
 
Race 1: FOLLOW @IPSWICHTURFCLUB QTIS Two-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 800 metres
 
HE'S FOR THE GIRLS- Slow to begin and bumped. Steadied and shifted out and away from the heels of JACKIEDOWNTHELINE which hung out passing the 500m.
 
STEEL GRIT - Fractious behind the barriers dislodging Jockey J Orman and delaying the start. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Raced greenly down the running.  
 
BLACK MINTO - Bumped on jumping.
 
EXCLUSIVE DROP- Stewards acceded to a request from co-trainer Ms M Sears, to allow apprentice J Molloy to ride the filly, which was having its first race start, 1kg over his declared riding weight, to allow apprentice Molloy to ride the filly in a larger saddle with more substantial packing. Raced wide for the majority. Laid in under pressure soon after entering the home straight.
 
JACKIEDOWNTHELINE - Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Hung out across heels rounding the 500m turn.
 
SZABO – Raced greenly for the majority.
 
 
Race 2: TAB Maiden Plate 2200 metres
 
BEDOUIN MORE- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
EMBOSSING-Shifted wider passing the 1100m and made a forward move settling 3 wide outside the leaders near the 800m. Shifted ground under pressure down the running. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer J Edwards advised, in his opinion, the step up in distance was major contributing factor to the improved showing. Mr Edwards added that whilst he was expecting an improved showing as a result of the step up in distance, he was somewhat surprised to see the gelding win today’s event.
 
MASTER OF MENACE – Bumped on jumping.
 
GAME STAR- Bumped on jumping. App M Castle advised her mount had been inclined to lay out for the majority.
 
I PREFER MINTIES- Slow into stride. After being caught wide in a rearward position made a forward move passing the 1900m and settled in a position outside the leader passing the 1300m.
 
 
Race 3: PIPER JOE'S 70TH Class 2 Handicap 1700 metres
 
BEDFORD SQUARE - Momentarily eased after improving onto heels near the 800m. Taken wider rounding the home turn.
 
JETFOIL - Began awkwardly. Over-raced on heels from the 1400-1300m and raced keenly for the majority. Shifted wider rounding the home turn. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have lost its near-fore plate in running.
 
STRUT- Stewards acceded to a request to permit App J Molloy to claim only 1/2kg of his allowance. App Molloy was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance on the gelding. Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly in the early stages and raced wide from the 1300m-900m when settling in a position outside the leader.
 
SCENIC RIM- Blundered on jumping before being bumped.
 
TAVI L'AMOUR - Taken wider rounding the home turn.
 
WITCH DAY- Held up for clear running and momentarily eased before shifting wider passing the 300m. Again, momentarily held up approaching the 100m and was obliged to shift wider.
 
PATMOS ISLAND- Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 4: THE SHED COMPANY IPSWICH Fillies and Mares BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100 metres
 
ALL TOO QUICK- Laid out passing the 350m.  
 
ZOUVALU- Began awkwardly and raced wide in the early stages.
 
CONTROLOCRACY- Began awkwardly.
 
CASROCK - Shifted ground under pressure down the running.
 
 
Race 5: STROUD HOMES IPSWICH Class 2 Plate 1200 metres
 
PENTITO- Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
REGAL EDITION- Stood flat footed and lost significant ground. Trainers representative K Zamhil was advised the gelding would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
NORTHULDRA- Began awkwardly and was momentarily steadied when crossed near the 900m.
 
RUSSIAN WARRIOR- Momentarily steadied when crossed near the 900m.
 
 
Race 6: DJ TRACKSIDE JAN FREE ENTRY Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
AL ASH LAD- Shifted out and bumped on jumping.
 
BALTRAY- Tightened on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
 
WAR HOPE- Tightened on jumping. Raced keenly on heels near the 800m.
 
MODELE- After being marginally slow to begin shifted in and bumped before being crowded, becoming awkwardly placed on heels and having to be momentarily eased. Raced keenly in the middle stages.
 
FOREBEARS- Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden with cover should circumstances permit. Was ridden accordingly. Raced keen for the majority. Hung out from the 600m and raced wide from the 500m after hanging out across heels.
 
TELMESOMETHIN'GIRL- Began awkwardly and shifted in. Raced greenly down the running.
 
SUPREME PLAY- Raced keen for the majority. Raced wide for the majority.
 
Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 4
 
 
Race 7: MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM ITC BENCHMARK 65 Handicap1535 metres
 
BUSHIDO- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MAGIC IN ME- Raced wide in the early stages.
 
HE IS- Held up for clear running for a short distance rounding the home turn.
 
ELEUTHERA- Slow into stride. App J Molloy was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
RIVER ROCKET- Held up for clear running and unable to improve from the 400-100m.
 
RAMOKA- Laid out rounding the home turn.
 
 
Race 8: IPSWICH EVENTS & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE Colts, Geldings & Entires BENCHM 1100 metres
 
MICHIGAN- Tightened on jumping becoming awkwardly placed on heels and obliged to steady before shifting in and over-racing on heels for some distance. Improved onto heels leaving the 600m having to be eased.
 
ANARCHY- Bumped on jumping. Hung out for the majority and as a result raced wide without cover throughout. Trainers representative K Zamhil was advised a warning would be placed on geldings racing manners.
 
START STRUTTING- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
TRINITY MISSILE- Shifted out on jumping and bumped.
 
VODKA MARTINI- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped.
 
AFROGINASOCK- Began awkwardly.
 
ZEELUCK- Raced keenly in the early stages.
