When no other rider was available stewards permitted jockey A Spradau to ride ROMANTACIZE 3.5kg over its declared weight.
DON’T TALK SILLY - Was a late scratching at 2.12pm by order of Stewards following the gelding taking charge of its rider during the preliminary, jumping the draw bar of the barrier and colliding with the running rail dislodging the rider and galloping around the inside of the track. On the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on DON’T TALK SILLY prior to 2.12pm were to be refunded in full and all winning bets placed prior to 2.12pm be subject to the deductions of 13c win and 16c place on the face value of the betting ticket. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed only superficial wounds to both front and rear legs. Trainer Ms S Gabriel-Royes has been advised the gelding must perform two successful barrier trials in the presence of a Steward, under simulated race day conditions before again being permitted to start in a race. Jockey T. Chambers was transported to hospital. Jockey Chambers will require a medical clearance prior to resuming race riding. Stewards then delayed the start of the race until 3.35pm as no ambulance was available.
