Race 1: Julia Creek Turf Club Benchmark 55 Handicap (Div 1) 1100 Metres:
1st – TOO MANY LIES 2nd – NO DELAY 3rd – MORE TO IT 4th – CLEVER ONE
The start of this race was delayed to allow the arrival of the Ambulance and removal of wildlife from the inside of the track.
GHOST TRAIN - Was a late withdrawal at 11.30am when no rider was available.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey J Esser to ride CLEVER ONE 1kg over its declared weight.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey J Kropp to ride MORE TO IT 1.5kg over its declared weight.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey T Chambers to ride SPLASH OUT 5kg over its declared weight.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey S McGovern to ride TOO MANY LIES 2kg over its declared weight.
COWARDOFTHECOUNTY – Dislodged it’s rider en route to the barriers and galloped a considerable distance. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse at 1.20pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all bets placed on COWARDOFTHECOUNTY were to be refunded in full and betting deductions of 31 cents in the win and 21 cents in the place on the face value of winning tickets be applied. Trainer Mr R. Hermann was advised by Stewards that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its prerace behaviour and further that he engage an experienced rider.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable the connections of the second placegetter, MORE DUST, and fourth placegetter, CLEVER ONE to view the photo of the finish. Having done so they were satisfied with the judge's placings and correct weight was declared.
TAP IN BIRDIE – Jumped awkwardly losing ground.
I’M LATE I’M LATE – Jumped outwards contacting another runner at the start. Raced wide for the entirety of the event.
GOT SWAG – Contacted by another runner on jumping away. Raced wide rounding the 800 metre and home turns.
SPLASH OUT - Raced greenly in the early stages losing ground. Upon returning to scale Jockey T Chambers reported the gelding resented the kickback and never travelled comfortably at any stage of the race.
ROTHCOTE – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 2: Julia Creek Turf Club Benchmark 55 Handicap (Div 2) 1100 Metres:
1st – BUSH LAWYER 2nd – EXCEEDED 3rd – BORN TO FIRE 4th – SETH

ARTIE‘S SON – Finished a distant last. Apprentice T Quinn advised the gelding resented the kick back which forced him to race wide for the entirety. Trainer S Gabriel-Royes advised she will consider the gelding’s racing future.
EXCEEDED - Jockey D Ballard was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the finish.

1st – MONTH OF SUNDAYS 2nd – TRAVEL IN STYLE 3rd – FLAMINGO ROSE 4th – BROTHER BOB

CARRY ME – Jockey J. Esser, the rider of CARRY ME was reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR.137(a), being that approaching the 800 metres Jockey J Esser allowed his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear of DEL PALIO (Jockey T Brummel), which was taken inwards, causing JOHNNYDRAMA (Apprentice G Mitchell) to be tightened for room.
DEL PALIO – Had to be eased when crossed by another runner near the 800 metres.
JOHNNYDRAMA – Tightened for room and was eased near the 800 metres.

1st – KENTUCKY BOY 2nd – CRAIGLEA SACHA 3rd – ASHLEN 4th – SPURS ON
