SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Prior to the commencement of Race 1, Trainer of MUSTOLA GOLD Mr. M. Fleming advised Stewards that his horse had a lump on its neck on the off side. Mr. Fleming was unsure how this occurred as it was not showing signs of pain or distress associated with the condition. Stewards advised Mr. Fleming the attending Veterinarian would examine the horse to ensure the gelding was fit to start at today’s meeting. The attending Veterinarian examined the horse on arrival her to the course and again prior to Race 5 and determined horse fit to run at today’s meeting. Furthermore the Veterinarian advised Stewards that she was satisfied the swelling present was not as a result of the horse receiving an injection by way of a needle.

Race 1: BILL SULLIVAN QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

While horses were parading prior to the running of this event Jockey N Yamada reported to Stewards that he felt his mount MONTE AGAR was showing signs of lameness. The attending Veterinary Surgeon examined the horse in the enclosure. At the request of the Stewards, the Veterinarian again examined the horse at the barriers for signs of lameness. After the examination at the barriers MONTE AGAR was found to be lame on the near side front leg and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 1.20pm on Veterinary advice. Trainer Mr J. Smith was later advised by Stewards that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to his horse running again.

Upon the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered the following deductions apply to all successful bets following the late scratching of MONTE AGAR.

Win- 0 place- 5c
Second- place- 4c
Third- place-7c

The start was delayed further due to MATILDA MISS (Appr L.Tilley) proving difficult to load. Trainer Mr T. Dougall was advised a warning would be placed on the horse.

WORDS AND PICTURES (Appr. L.Attard) jumped out and MACSPICK (W.OÇonnell) jumped in resulting in MATILDA MISS being tightened for room shortly after the start and MACSPICK lost some ground.

POPPY DE LARGO (T.Banks) travelled wide during the middle and final stages of the event.

YAMANNERS (S. Apthorpe) veered out shortly after the start and travelled wide during the early and middle stages of the event.

MACSPICK hung out badly from the 200 metre point and continued to race erratically for a period of approximately 100 metres. The rider was able to regain control on or about the 100 metre point. Stewards spoke with the rider of MACSPICK W. O’Connell and Trainer Mr B. Park regarding the performance of the horse from the 200m point. Stewards had shown the surveillance footage available to Mr Park and Jockey O’Connell. Mr Park advised he was unable to explain the horse’s behaviour and would change the gear. Jockey O’Connell stated that the horse travelled well until that point and when he asked the gelding for an effort the horse began to hang out badly. When he began to gain control the horse had lost his momentum but stated his mount did finish the race off well. Stewards considered the explanation of both parties and subsequently placed a warning on the horse.

Race 2: JANDOWAE & DALBY BUSINESS HOUSES HANDICAP CLASS 2 1000M

CAPTAIN SPUR (Appr. G. Leung) hung out for the entire trip and did race erratically over the final 100metres of the event. Stewards spoke with the trainer of CAPTAIN SPUR Ms J. Crompton regarding the horse hanging out for the majority of the event. Ms Crompton viewed the surveillance film and stated she thought the horse raced on the wrong leg for the majority of the race and couldn’t explain why this occurred as the horse had never acted that way in previous starts. Stewards accepted Ms Crompton’s explanation and did not place a warning on the horse at this time due to the horses past record.

DR HOUSE (Appr. J.Hodge) veered off at the 400metre turn and travelled wide for the remainder of the event. On returning to the mounting yard Apprentice Jockey Hodge dismounted his mount as he felt the horse had pulled up lame. When questioned by stewards Apprentice Hodge stated he felt the horse went amiss during the final stages and had to ease him out of the race. The gelding was later examined by the attending Veterinarian and found to be lame in the near fore leg. Stewards advised the Trainer of DR HOUSE Mr B. Hudson’ representative at today’s meeting, Mr B. Park that a Veterinary Certificate would be required prior to the horse running again.

SAVAGE ROCK (D.McIntosh) travelled wide during the middle stages of the event.

M’SIEUR MONTPELIER (S. Bayliss) was slow to begin and failed to go the early speed.

Race 3: JANDOWAE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1200M.

Correct weight was delayed while the rider of DAYZARI D. McIntosh viewed the surveillance footage available and then lodged an objection against LEMAX being declared the winner alleging interference at the 500 metre point. Stewards heard the objection and comments/ statements from all parties involved and viewed the surveillance footage available to them. Whilst Stewards did acknowledge that LEMAX had shifted in marginally to improve his position, bearing in mind where the incident took place and the margin between the runners dismissed the protest and subsequently declared correct weight.

Stewards opened an inquiry after Race 4 into this incident at the 500 metre point but had to adjourn the inquiry as Jockey N. Evans had to leave the course to ride in Toowoomba later in the day. Jockeys will be notified as soon as practical when and where this enquiry will be held.

ARMA DE FUEGO (N. Evans) jumped in at the start and made contact with another runner.

DAYZARI (D. McIntosh) has jumped out and made contact with another runner at the start.

HI HI (Appr. N. Ogura) was tightened for room between runners at the start resulting in the horse losing some ground. Travelled wide during the early stages of the event.

LE MAX (S.Apthorpe) travelled wide during the middle stages of the event.

Race 4: JANDOWAE CUP 1500M OPEN HANDICAP.

HUSSY ERIN (Ms. M.O’Brien) began well but failed to go the early speed and drifted back in the field and remained towards the tail of the field despite the efforts of the rider. The mare began to come into the race at the 600 metre point and then travelled wide from the 400 metre point for the remainder of the event. Stewards spoke with Jockey O’Brien in relation to the mares racing pattern today. Ms O’Brien stated that she was a loss to explain why the horse got so far back despite her attempts to improve the horse’s position. Ms O’Brien stated the horse was coming into the race at approximately the 600 metre point and began to make ground on the leaders and finished off the race well. Stewards accepted Ms O’Brien’s explanation and took no further action regarding this matter.

On returning to scale Jockey N. Evans the rider of STORM MAGIC advised stewards that he got his whip caught up at the 400 metre turn and as a result the horse made some minor contact with the inside rail.

Race 5: JANDOWAE BUSINESS HOUSES AND TRAINERS TROPHY CLASS B 1500M HANDICAP.

Correct weight was delayed as Jockey Ms M. O’Brien the rider of the second placed horse FAMECHON BARONESS sought to view the surveillance film. After consultation with the Trainer Mr T. Moloney Ms Obrien then lodged an objection against MADAM AUBERGE being declared the winner alleging interference at the 150 metre point. Stewards heard the objection and statements from all parties then observed the surveillance footage available at today’s meeting. Stewards acknowledged that on or about the 150 metre point there was an inward shift from MADAM AUBERGE and that minor contact had been made with FAMECHON BARONESS. When assessing the objection Stewards were mindful that the rider of FAMECHON BARONESS did not have to stop riding, nor correct her mount as a result of this incident and considering where the interference occurred as well as the margin, Stewards were of the opinion these factors combined did not affect the outcome of the race and therefore, dismissed the objection and subsequently declared correct weight.

At a subsequent inquiry, Stewards advised Apprentice Van Der Sanden to exercise more care regarding such matters.

TUNE UP WARRIOR (S. Apthorpe) travelled wide during the mid –stages. Stewards were advised by the rider that the horse had pulled hard throughout the event.

ARKROYAL (B. Appo) was fractious in the barriers. Stewards to speak with Trainer of the horse Ms. C. Allardyce as soon as practical and consider if further action is required. Stewards were unable to have ARKROYAL vetted post-race due to the horse and trainer leaving the course. Stewards will speak with the trainer Ms Allardyce at a later time.

MOSS TANK ( S. Bayliss) Jumped out at the start and made contact with ARKROYAL which then made heavy contact with FAMECHON BARONESS (Ms. M. O’Brien) resulting in the mare losing some ground.

HENNY BOY (D. McIntosh) was slow to begin, ran off when entering the 400 metre turn and hung out again over the final stages of the event.

LOVETHENIGHTLIFE (W.O’Çonnell) hung out mid race.

MISS SNOWSILL (Appr. J.Hodge) was slow to begin.

MUSTOLA GOLD (Appr. N. Ogura) dipped at the 200 metre point of the race then shifted in abruptly. This resulted in MISS SNOWSILL and ARKROYAL being held up and racing in restricted room for a short distance approaching the 100 metre point.
