JANDOWAE RACE CLUB

JANDOWARE – SATURDAY, 4 MAY 2024

WEATHER – FINE            TRACK RATING – GOOD 3                  RAIL – TRUE

OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – F Hartford
Stewards – T Preston

GENERAL
Stewards permitted rider changes as per the Stewards race-day summary.

Race 1: BILL SULLIVAN & HARVEY BLACK MAIDEN PLATE (1000m)

RED HERRING- Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the race.

LIGHTNING DUKE- Approaching the 900m, raced in restricted room and was obliged to ease. After taking evidence from App J Golden, App J Metcalfe, App S Callow, App S McCann and Jockey K Yoshida it was established all runners were racing tight after leaving the barriers and approaching the 900m and though marginal shifts occurred from several runners no rider/s could be held accountable for any tightening. Stewards therefore took no further action than to advise all riders to exercise greater care and allow more room for other runners.

THE WHITE MOUSE- Raced three wide with cover for majority of the race. Laid out around the home turn.

FITASAFIDDLE- Shortly after the start raced in restricted room. Approaching the 900m, momentarily eased and lost ground.

THIEF BY NIGHT- Raced three wide for the majority of the race.

THE REAL SAINT- Approaching the 600m, momentarily raced in restricted room.  On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. As this was the first occasion of bilateral epistaxis Trainer G Stephens was advised of the provisions of AR79.  Stewards intend to inquire into Mr Stephens having the gelding removed from the course prior to the prescribed time at a date and time to be fixed.

MISSILES ARMED- Momentarily held up on heels soon after straightening, having to be steadied and shifted in. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination that showed a small skin laceration on offside front heel bulb, which would not have affected the gelding’s performance.
