Race 1: SALUTE THE VETERANS KILCOY SUNDAY 8 AUGUST MDN PLT – 1050M

GOGOL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having started in excess of twelve months and was passed suitable to start.

BEFORE AND AFTER – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Made the turn near the 800m awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near hind. Trainer L White was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.

FOUND THE MARK – Bumped on jumping.

KICK HI – Slow to begin. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

SHE'S UNIQUE – Inconvenienced shortly after the start. Made the turn near the 800m awkwardly.

DOMESDAY DANCER – Rider N Thomas advised that the gelding hung out throughout resulting in him being unable to place the gelding under full pressure at any stage. Trainer D Jones was advised that the gelding must officially barrier trial prior to racing to prove its racing manners.

After this race and a substantial downpour, stewards elected to indefinitely delay the starting of race 2 to enable the weather to pass. Stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected the track and deemed it suitable to race. All races were put back one timeslot with the last race to jump at 4:45pm and downgraded the track to a Heavy 8 retrospectively.

Race 2: BUTLER MCDERMOTT LAWYERS BM58 HCP – 2470M

PUCKISH – Slow to begin.

GO MILLO – Performed below market expectations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SID - Steadied near the 1200m when crossed by POWERS LOOKOUT.

SAMHAIN – Raced keenly when being restrained in the early stages.

WINDUPGIRL – Slow to begin (2L). Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Rider V Venkaya reported that his mount failed to handle the prevailing track conditions.

POWERS LOOKOUT – Raced wide and without cover before obtaining position outside the leader near the 1200m.

After running of Race 2 and continuing rain, stewards and a delegation of senior riders inspected the track and deemed it unsuitable to continue racing. The race meeting was subsequently abandoned at 1:37pm.
