Race 1: QTIS Added Stakes Maiden Plate 1000 metres:
1st – FAVOURED ONE 2nd – SALMON ROE 3rd – HORSTYLE 4th – RED SHAWL
The start of this race was delayed considerably when LILLY KAREENA broke through the front of barriers and galloped riderless for a considerable distance and then both ROSE OF SURREY and SAY LA FI refused to load after initially being placed in the barriers however backed out when the back gates would not close. Subsequently all three horses were late withdrawals at 2.50pm and when correct weight was declared it was ordered that all bets placed on LILLY KAREENA, ROSE OF SURREY and SAY LA FI be refunded in full and all other successful bets made on the race prior to 2.50pm be subject to the following deductions of 20c win and 22c place on the face value of the betting ticket
In taking no direct action against LILLY KAREENA, ROSE OF SURREY and SAY LA FI stewards were cognisant of the fact that there were barrier malfunctions involved.
