GENERAL

The following horses which were returning from extended spells all underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and were cleared to race.
Race 1 – Aware Of Style, Endinaye, Oldtimerock’n’roll.
Race 2 – Toy Boy.

Due to a number of incidents occurring prior to race (1) during the preliminary, all runners were ordered to return back to the mounting yard and this race was rescheduled to be run after race 6 at 5.10pm acting under the provisions AR21(f)(i), As a result of injuries. ENDINAYE, FAST GIRL, UNTOLD CHOICE were all officially declared late scratching’s at 4.20pm prior the commencement of betting. No deductions applicable.

All other runners underwent a veterinarian examination prior to the delayed running of this race and were cleared to start.

The following races were rescheduled as followed:

Race 1 – 5.10pm, Race 2 – 2.00pm, Race 3 – 2.40pm, Race 4 – 3.20pm, Race 5 – 4.00pm, Race 6 – 4.35pm

Race 1: L.D. LUCEY MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE (SPONSORED BY LUCEY FAMILIES) – 1000 Metres

ENDINAYE – Became fractious behind the barriers and became cast on the outside running rail injuring a barrier attendant and suffering an injury to its off-
side stifle being declared a late scratching at 4.20pm on veterinary advice. Trainer Ms J. Ryan was advised she must provide a veterinary clearance prior to
it being permitted to race again.

UNTOLD CHOICE – Was found to be lame in the off-front leg being declared a late scratching at 4.20pm on veterinary advice. Trainer S. Seymour
was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to it being permitted to race again.

FAST GIRL – Took fright when riderless behind the barriers and jumped the outside running rail injuring its off-fore cannon. Trainer F Wieland
was advised he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to it being permitted to race again.

AWARE OF STYLE – Shifted out at the start bumping MISS DAURIAN.

MISS DAURIAN – Bumped on jumping. Rider S. Wilson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR132(5) in that he used his whip in an excessive manner by striking the mare in excess of 17 times in totality. S. Wilson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 days to commence Sunday 30 April and expire midnight 6 May 2023.

Race 2: DUFFY'S FURNITURE / BEDRUS / GILES & SALLY ATKINSON GUNNAWARRA SHIELD CLASS 6 PLATE – 1000 Metres

HOKOLESQUA – After being fractious in the tie-up area when being saddled was examined by the veterinary surgeon and was cleared to start.

MACEDON FLYER – Reared as the start was effected losing considerable ground and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer D. Paradise was advised the gelding must obtain a further barrier certificate before being permitted to race again.

RAMBLIN’ MAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

SOLOMON – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Race 3: RAVENSHOE TIMBERS PTY LTD CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200 Metres

DEORA – Put in an awkward stride soon after the start when being urged forward and became unbalanced and lost ground.

JUST VERA – Raced ungenerously in the middle stages and compounded over the concluding stages. Rider K. Swaffer was of the opinion it may have choked down. A veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K. Allender was advised a warning would be placed in its racing manners.

SPANISH BEANS – Raced in restricted room near the 300 metres when tightened for room by BELLA’S IN COMMAND which shifted in when being restrained from the heels of JUST VERA which was racing ungenerously.

BELLA’S IN COMMAND – Shifted in near the 300 metres when being restrained from heels tightening SPANISH BEANS.

MISS BOSSY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

RIGHT BOWER – Raced wide for the majority of the race. A post-race veterinary examination identified the presence of blood in both nostrils. RIGHT BOWER shall not without the permission of the Stewards: (a) be trained, exercised or galloped on any racecourse for a period of two months; (b) start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after a satisfactory gallop of at least 1,000 metres in the presence of a Steward. AR79(4)

Race 4: COUNTRY MILE HELICOPTERS RATINGS BAND 0 - 50 HANDICAP – 1350 Metres

SWAHILI MAI – Slow to begin.

LINE OF KINGS – Raced wide in the early stages.

WHOBETHATNOW – Raced wide in the early stages.

BOTOX LADY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.

DAY TO FAVOUR – On returning to scale rider I. Teh expressed concern that DAY TO FAVOUR had not been afforded a fair start. On viewing of the race day film stewards were satisfied the outside barrier gate had rebounded back causing the mare to lose considerable ground and as such it was declared a non-runner. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on DAY TO FAVOUR were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 16 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 18 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable.

Race 5: WONGABEL QUARIES N CONCRETE / BOLWARRA ENTERPRISES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1350 Metres

ARUBA – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

MALVAGIO – Refused to proceed to the barriers and was declared a late scratching at 3.55pm by order of stewards. On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on MALVAGIO were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of all win bets and 10 cents in the dollar on the face value of all place bets to be applicable. Trainer K. Russell was advised the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of stewards before being permitted to race again.

SOUTHERN MISSILE – Slow to begin. Rider K. Swaffer advised stewards on returning to scale that the gelding compounded over the final stages and failed to respond to her riding. Trainer T. Rowe advised stewards he will have further examinations conducted on the gelding and will advise any results and further added if no abnormalities he would experiment with gear changes prior to its next start.

Race 6: NORWELD AUSTRALIA MT GARNET CASHMERE CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1800 Metres

LOVE ON SUNDAY – Was inconvenienced on jumping when its barrier gates sprung back striking jockey N. Day in the right shoulder resulting in the gelding losing ground. This was brought to the attention of starter Mr B. Brady who tested the barriers prior to the following race. Jockey day declined ambulance attention.

LORD OF LIGHT – Laid in despite the efforts of its rider near the 800 metres when awkwardly placed on the heels of GAELIC which shifted in slightly, placing THE BEAT GOES ON in restricted room which was steadied. LORD OF LIGHT was bumped and became unbalanced in this incident.

GAELIC – Shifted in slightly near the 800 metres hampering LORD OF LIGHT. Rider S. Sheargold was advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

THE BEAT GOES ON – Inconvenienced near the 800 metres bumping with LORD OF LIGHT and was restrained.
