GENERAL
Race 1. MUD HUT HOTEL BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 900m
FUMBLEROOSKI - Extremely fractious in the barrier. Unseated App S Nielson as the start was effected and trailed the field riderless throughout. App Nielson was uninjured and able to fulfil her remaining engagements. Trainer T Parry was advised FUMBLEROOSKI will require one (1) further barrier certificate prior to next race start.
EXPLOSIVE GIRL - Fractious in the barrier. Slowly away.
SOGNI - Fractious in the barrier.
FUDGINIT - Fractious in the barrier. Raced wide for the majority.
WICKED WILLY - Raced wide for the majority.
Race 2. RICHMOND FREIGHT & PLANT HIRE BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 900m
WE'LL BEAT IT - Raced wide for the majority.
THe declaration of Correct Weight was delayed whilst Stewards considered an objection lodged by App T Leslight (OUTREACH BELLE) which was placed 2nd against 1st placed METEORANO (D Sparkes) on the grounds of alleged interference between the 400m and the 200m and again near the 150m. Stewards heard submissions from connections of both horses and viewed the available patrol footage. It was established that OUTREACH BELLE did experience some tightening to its running in the vicinity of the 400m and then had to be switched around the heels of METEORANO when that gelding shifted in under pressure approaching the 200m. After giving due consideration to the matter connections were advised that Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that any ground lost by OUTREACH BELLE as a result of these incidents was in excess of the 1 length margin which separated the 2 runners at the winning post, and Correct Weight was subsequently declared on the Judge's numbers.
Race 3. KUHL & CO EARTHMOVING MAIDEN PLATE 1000m
DON't STOP LAUGHING - Slowly into stride.
MORE THAN VENICE - Slowly into stride.
HAVEABEERFORTED- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
SENKO - Raced wide from the 500m.
MISS PROPHET - Raced wide for the majority.
Jockey D Sparkes (NANNABAX) was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m.
Race 4. NORTH WEST HARDWARE QTIS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200m
JABALI GOLD - Fractious in the barrier.
LOONEY TUNES - Slowly into stride.
SIR BULLEE - Slowly into stride.
ALPHA BLUE - Slowly into stride. Raced wide for the majority.
SIZZLING RIVER - Restrained off heels near the 1100m.
Race 5. FOX HELICOPTERS MAXWELTON CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1200m
CAFFREY (IRE) - Threw its head back on jumping and struck App T Leslight in the face. Lost some ground as a result. App Leslight subsequently declared himself free of injury.
