RACE 1: Taubmans/PPG QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st - SUPREME JET 2nd - CRAIGLEA DEKEN 3rd - MISHANI REDMAN 4th - ROCKETTE ROCKET

HAYLLAR'S DUB - Slow to begin, then crowded for room shortly after the start.

AWE CITY - Shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.

ROCKETTE ROCKET - When questioned regarding her riding, App. S. Wiseman stated that the gelding, which was having its first race start, was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was further hampered and raced in a rearward position throughout. She said that shortly after straightening for home she shifted her mount to the outside, where she attempted to place it under pressure, however when struck with the whip it shifted out abruptly and raced greenly.

CRAIGLEA SHUFFLE - Upon returning to scale Jockey P. Cullen reported that his mount traveled comfortably in the lead, however shortly after straightening for home weakened and was disappointing.

RACE 2: Woodman's Mitre 10 Marian QTIS 2-Y-O Maiden Handicap - 1050 metres
1st - PURE CHANCE 2nd - REDMIA 3rd - CRIMSON KIMONO 4th - CRAIGLEA SWIFT

REDMIA - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer R. West for the late declaration of Jockey S. Sheargold as rider of the filly.

The start of this race was delayed when Jockey P. Cullen was dislodged from CRAIGLEA SNAPPY en route to the barriers. CRAIGLEA SNAPPY then galloped riderless for a considerable distance. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 12.36 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on CRAIGLEA SNAPPY be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply in respect of successful bets made prior to 12.36 p.m.:

22¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, PURE CHANCE
6¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, PURE CHANCE
33¢ in the dollar for the place for 2nd, REDMIA
30¢ in the dollar for the place for 3rd, CRIMSON KIMONO


The start was again delayed when ARQUATAS reared in the barriers, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and acting on her advice stewards ordered the withdrawal of the filly at 12.43 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on ARQUATAS be refunded in full and that the following deductions apply in respect of all successful bets made between 12.36 p.m. and 12.43 p.m.:

Trainer Mr R. West, representing trainer Mr R. Vale, was advised that a warning will be placed on the barrier manners of ARQUATAS.

The start was further delayed when RING DING was very fractious and reared in the barriers, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Trainer Mr F. Smith was advised that he must obtain a barrier certificate for RING DING prior to the gelding being permitted to race again.

ROCKET ELEMENT - Raced wide throughout.

CRAIGLEA DIXIE - Slow to begin.

BETTY ISABEL - Began awkwardly.

RACE 3: Mackay Truss & Timber Halle Connnor Memorial Maiden Plate - 1200 metres
1st - CRAIGLEA JETT 2nd - SNIPAROSE 3rd - LAMERICAN 4th - ON THE BID

GOT TOO LEICA - Bumped at the start and then was reluctant to stretch out in the early stages.

DINKUMS DARLIN' - Raced keenly in the middle stages.

CHANGEINTHEFORTUNE - Raced 3-wide without cover throughout.

MISHANI ALLEGRA - Shortly after straightening for home was momentarily crowded for room and had to be steadied.


RACE 4: Onesteel Reinforcing Bracelet BenchMark 60 Handicap - 2000 metres
1st - KNOWING ME 2nd - INSTINCTIVE 3rd - KHADIJA 4th - GUITARIST

LANNERET - Connections informed stewards that it was their intention to have the horse ridden further forward today. The gelding settled off the pace.

KHADIJA - Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

SHIKRA - Was bumped at the start.

GUITARIST - Crowded for room shortly after the start.

RACE 5: James Hardie BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1300 metres
1st - EXCELLENT STYLE 2nd - OH YEAH 3rd - ORATRY 4th - NUDGEE

BUCASIA BEACH - Jockey B. Stewart was reprimanded under A.R. 85B for failing to fulfil his engagement. In issuing penalty stewards took into account Jockey Stewart's good record to this rule. Jockey T. Bannon was substituted as the rider of the gelding.

NUDGEE - Raced wide without cover throughout.

STRUTTER - Slow to begin.

EXCELLENT STYLE - In the early part of the straight was held up and unable to obtain clear running. Jockey J. Felix was reprimanded under A.R. 145 for returning to scale overweight. Stewards took into account Jockey Felix's good record in regard to this rule.

ORATRY - Held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and had to be shifted to the outside of runners to improve.

EXCELLENT STYLE - When questioned regarding the improved performance of the mare, trainer J. Manzelmann explained that in his opinion the horse's two most recent starts had been beneficial to its race fitness and the mare had appreciated the more suitable distance of today's event.

RACE 6: Mackay Rural Supplies Entec BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1100 metres
1st - HOLDONTOYAHORSES 2nd - RISE TO THE TOP 3rd - KILLER WASP 4th - MARKAZY

SHARDAY - Injured itself in the float en route to the course and was a late scratching at 2.15 p.m.

HOLDONTOYAHORSES - Began awkwardly.

BON TEMPS - Raced four wide without cover for the entire race.

RISE TO THE TOP - Jockey M. Powell pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under A.R. 137(a) in that passing the 200 metres he allowed SERENE PEARL to shift out whilst riding it along, when insufficiently clear of HOLDONTOYAHORSES, which had to be checked and lost its rightful running. App. Powell was suspended from riding in races for a period covering 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Thursday 24th May 2015, up to and including midnight on Thursday 4th June 2015.

STANATHOL - When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding App. A. Holt stated that in his opinion the gelding performs best when able to lead and dictate terms.


RACE 7: Carlton Mid Cup Open Handicap - 1800 metres
1st - HATZIS 2nd - FIELDS OF TUSCANY 3rd - BARAMUL BULLET/MINTARO (DH)

LIKEFATHERLIKESON - Began awkwardly.

STANDFORD - Ran wide rounding the first turn, near the 1600 metres.

ELOVACHILL - Over-raced in the early and middle stages and refused to settle.

BLOWIN' YOUR MIND - When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance, Jockey D. Simmons could offer no explanation and said that his mount travelled comfortably throughout, however failed to respond to his urgings and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had soreness in the back.

RACE 8: Woodman's Mitre 10 Maria Stebbens Memorial Weight for Age - 1100 metres
1st - DAPH 'N' ALF 2nd - BLAME GAME 3rd - LEXCEN 4th - ADDICTION TO ROCK

MARINA SANDS - Late withdrawal, at 7.48 a.m. by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the gelding had sustained a stone bruise. Trainer J. O'Sing was advised to provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding will be permitted to race again.

SPORTING PAGE - The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable stewards to ascertain whether the gelding was denied a fair start. After viewing the patrol films, stewards established that as the start was effected SPORTING PAGE knuckled, resulting in Jockey J. Felix being dislodged. In the circumstances stewards declared that the gelding had not been denied a fair start and correct weight was declared.

CLOUD DANCER - Reared as the start was effected and lost ground.

PRETTY GULLY - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer Ms J. Hassett for the late declaration of App. S. Wiseman as rider of the mare. Was slow to begin.

SAMMY JUNIOR and BLAME GAME - Passing the 800 metres were carried wider by the riderless horse.

SCOT FREE - Passing the 500 metres had to be checked when inconvenienced by the riderless horse.
