DAPH 'N' ALF - Stewards questioned trainer Mr G. Wehlow relative to a publication in which it was reported that following the gelding's disappointing performance in the Rockhampton XXXX Gold Newmarket Open Handicap on Thursday 18th June 2015, it had broken down. Mr Wehlow said that the report was inaccurate and he attributed the poor performance to the fact that the gelding had suffered interference during the run. Mr Wehlow added that DAPH 'N' ALF had pulled up well and worked well subsequent to the event. Prior to today's race the horse was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.

MOTORISED - Slow to begin. Shortly after straightening had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COMIC RULER (M. Cullen), which shifted out when not quite clear. Jockey Cullen was reprimanded.

LEXCEN - Approaching the 100 metres was momentarily held up on the heels of a weakening runner.

COMIC RULER - Stewards questioned Jockey M. Cullen regarding his riding over the concluding stages. He said that shortly after straightening he shifted his mount to the outside to obtain clear running, however from this point the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Nevertheless, Jockey Cullen was advised to ride his mounts out fully to the finish.

BLAME GAME - A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any abnormalities.
