MACKAY TURF CLUB - SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER 2015

WEATHER – SHOWERS TRACK RATING – GOOD 4 downgraded to SOFT 5 following Race 4
RAIL – Out 2 metres from 800 metres to winning post. Out 1 metre remainder.

Race 1: Cootharinga North Queensland Maiden Plate 1100 metres:
1st – HARRY MET SANDY 2nd – JORDANS JET 3rd – CAPE LUCK 4th – ON THE BID

CAPE LUCK – Was inspected by the Veterinarian and cleared to start after proving fractious in the barriers.

THE SPIKESTER – Reared as the barriers opened and was slowly into stride. Jockey C Lennon was placed at a disadvantage when the saddle slipped soon after the start. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

GYPSY SECRET – Was slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

JORDANS JET – Ducked out sharply and inconvenienced another runner near the 800 metres after making contact with the running rail.

MISHANI HEATHEN – Was inconvenienced near the 800 metres after improving onto the heels of another runner which ducked out sharply after making contact with the running rail.

HAPPY TO BE HERE – Was inclined to hang in down the running despite the efforts of Jockey G Watson.

Race 2: BB Print Benchmark 55 Handicap 1050 metres:
1st – SWEET AND SAVAGE 2nd – KILLER WASP 3rd – TYCOON ANNIE 4th – WE FOUND IT

Following the running of this event Stewards inquired into an incident which took place near the 150 metres when WE FOUND IT (M Abe) shifted in resulting in AVELLINO (D Simmons) having to be restrained when taken in across the heels of LUNAR LUCK (App M Haley). SNITZEL ROSE ( T Bannon) which was following was also hampered after improving onto the heels of AVELLINO. After hearing evidence from Jockeys D Simmons, T Bannon and M Abe, Stewards issued Jockey M Abe with a reprimand for careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a).

TYCOON ANNIE – Was reluctant to load.

SWEET AND SAVAGE - Was slowly away after beginning awkwardly.

BITE THAT LIP – Was slowly into stride after being crowded between runners on jumping.

AVELLINO – Was caught wide without cover in the early and middle stages. Had to be restrained near the 150 metres when taken in across heels by another runner which was shifting in. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

WE FOUND IT – Was inclined to race ungenerously in the middle stages. Shifted in under pressure near the 150 metres causing inconvenience to other runners. Jockey M Abe found guilty of careless riding.

SNITZEL ROSE – Was hampered near the 150 metres after improving onto the heels of another runner which had to be restrained.

Race 3: CB5 Management Benchmark 70 Handicap 1050 metres:
1st – TESTATIME 2nd – BON TEMPS 3rd – FROM THE DARKNESS 4th – AERIAL PING PONG

AERIAL PING PONG – Bumped with another runner on jumping. Was caught wide without cover for the majority.

BON TEMPS – Was crowded between runners on jumping.

TESTATIME – Was slowly into stride after bumping with another runner on jumping.

FROM THE DARKNESS – Was inclined to gallop awkwardly for a few strides near the 700 metres.

Race 4: Urban Trend Construction Benchmark 60 Handicap 1300 metres:
1st – THANKGODFORFRANC 2nd – OUR HUSSLER 3rd – SUNNY CHIEF 4th – MONTANA MAN

Trainer Ms. T Simmons was reminded of her responsibilities under the provisions of AR140A – Saddling of horse presented to race.

THANKGODFORFRANC – Was slowly away.

LA RIVE DROITE – Was inclined to race ungenerously in the early stages. Jockey T Bannon reported that she was placed at a disadvantage early in running when unable to establish a firm grip on the reins in the wet conditions. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained minor injuries to both hind heels in running.

SMALL CHANGE – Was inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running. Jockey C Lennon was instructed to stop riding and straighten in similar circumstances.

Following the running of this event Stewards downgraded the Track Rating from a GOOD 4 to a SOFT 5.

Race 5: Autocorner Benchmark 65 Handicap 1560 metres:
1st – WHAT’S YOUR SECRET 2nd – ROFRANOZ 3rd – MAY NELLY(NZ) 4th – SERENE PEARL

MISHANI ALLEGRA – Was slowly away.

MAY NELLY – Was held up for clear running in the early part of the home straight. A post- race Veterinary examination revealed that the mare had sustained an injury to the off fore tendon. Trainer Mr. J Manzelmann was advised that a Veterinary Clearance would be required prior to the mare being permitted to race again.
