Race 1: HOTFM MACKAY Benchmark 55 1050 metres
1st – WE FOUND IT 2nd – MR RAINMAKER 3rd – REAL FRENCH SAGA 4th – VERMITHRAX
GANADOO EXPRESS - Was a late withdrawal at 11.30am when no rider was available.
REAL FRENCH SAGA – Slow to begin.
SNITZEL ROSE – Raced wide throughout.
VERMITHRAX – Held up momentarily in the early part of the straight.
Race 2: CQ UNIVERSITY Maiden Plate 1200 metres
1st – ON THE BID 2nd – BETTY ISABEL 3rd – GYPSY SECRET 4th – FOREST MAGIC
BETTY ISABEL – Underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection after making contact with the barriers during the loading process and was subsequently cleared to take it’s place in the field. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages, placing BURJ AL (Apprentice R Payne) which was weakening in restricted room. Apprentice M Murphy was advised to exercise more care and stop riding his mount along and straighten earlier than he did on this occasion.
FOREST MAGIC – Began with its head in the air. Was inclined to hang out in the early stages.
PLAIN TRUTH – Began awkwardly then commenced to race keenly in the early stages.
SUNSHINY GIRL – Raced wide without cover in the early stages.
GYPSY SECRET – Passing the 700m was reluctant to hold its position when racing tight to the inside of another runner.
BURJ AL – Raced in restricted room over the final 50 metres.
Race 3: CANELANDS CENTRAL Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
1st – OUR HUSSLER 2nd – JEWELLERY THIEF 3rd – REASONABEEL (NZ) 4th – NO IFS OR BUTS
GOSSES BLUFF – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
Race 4: CARLTON MID Benchmark 70 Handicap 1560 metres
1st – WHAT’S YOUR SECRET 2nd – BOBCAT 3rd – ROFRANOZ 4th – EURONGILLY
SERENE PEARL – Began with its head in the air then commenced to overrace in the early stages.
Race 5: BLUE RIVER ICE Benchmark 60 Handicap 1800 metres
1st – MANZANITA 2nd – FILLE VILAINE 3rd – SHIKRA 4th – MARTHA’S MOMENT
SHIKRA – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages. Approaching the turn near the 700 metres when racing keenly had to be shifted wider on the track to avoid heels.
