Race 2: Mackay Toyota BenchMark 70 Handicap - 1560 metres
1st OKAY SWIFT 2nd GLACIER EXPRESS 3rd HIDDEN NATURE 4th - NELAMOS

Prior to the declaration of correct weight stewards considered an objection lodged by Jockey D. Evans, the rider of HIDDEN NATURE which finished 3rd, against GLACIER EXPRESS (Apprentice N. Vuille) being declared 2nd , alleging interference over the final 150 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved, viewing the official patrol films and taking into account their own observations, stewards established that although GLACIER EXPRESS shifted in and made contact with HIDDEN NATURE on a number of occasions, bearing in mind the margin of a long neck between the two runners and the proximity of the incident to the winning post, stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that HIDDEN NATURE would have finished ahead of GLACIER EXPRESS. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and the judge's placings ordered to stand. Correct weight was declared. At a subsequent inquiry Apprentice Vuille was reprimanded.

Spinks) being crowded out onto GLACIER EXPRESS (App. N.Vuille) , had to be checked and lost its rightful running. Jockey Evans was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on 9th July 2016, up to and including Saturday, 19th July 2016.

JUST CALL ME LOUIE - When questioned regarding the performance, Apprentice Q.
