Race 1: Payne Print BenchMark 60 Handicap - 1560 metres
1st  -  SIX BEAT  2nd  -  STYLISH LUCK  3rd  -   DANZ THE MAN  4th  -  ZALSNAAP
 
STYLISH LUCK - Slow to begin. Near the 800 metres and again near the 600 metres improved onto heels and had to be restrained.
 
DANZ THE MAN  - Raced wide early.
 
ELITE ECHELON - Over-raced in the early stages, then raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SPURSONIC - Shifted out rounding the home turn, forcing ELITE ECHELON wider.
 
Race 2:  McDonald Murphy Machinery Maiden Plate - 1300 metres
1st  -  HAYYLER'S FELL  2nd  -  WULFIES LADY 3rd   -  THREE HENRYS 4th  - ENDEAVOUR BAY   
 
THREE HENRYS - Whilst parading behind the barriers was kicked by another runner. The horse was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field.
 
GENERAL BEERS  - Slow to begin. Commenced to over-race leaving the 700 metres, improved onto heels near the 500 metres and had to be restrained.
 
 
WALLEN - Began awkwardly, over-raced in the early and middle stages and raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
POR UNA CABEZA - Began very awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start by JACKPOT JOKER (Jockey N. Day), which shifted out.
 
Stewards questioned Jockey A. Taylor in regard to the poor performance of POR UNA CABEZA, which finished tailed off. Jockey Taylor stated that after beginning very awkwardly and suffering some interference shortly after the start, the gelding was reluctant to stretch out, despite her efforts, and was most disappointing. Trainer C. Marsh agreed with Jockey Taylor's assessment and gave an undertaking to advise stewards if anything should come to her attention that may have affected the horse's performance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. A warning was placed on the gelding's performance.
 
Race 3  -  Barcam Electrical Class 6 Plate -  1050 metres
1st  -  BON TEMPS  2nd  -  MAHRAJAAN  3rd   -  PINYARDA  4th  -  CANNY AND THE JET
 
The start was delayed when the barrier blanket on CANNY AND THE JET (Jockey A. Coome) was dislodged by a strong wind a number of times and had to be replaced.
 
HILLCREST - Bumped on jumping. A short distance after the start became unbalanced and lost ground.
 
STANATHOL - Bumped on jumping.
 
MAHRAJAAN - Laid in for some distance soon after the start and proved difficult to ride.
 
PINYARDA - Had to be restrained when racing in restricted room to the inside of CANNY AND THE JET near the 800 metres.
 
HUNCHA DUNCHA - Began awkwardly. Leaving the 700 metres shifted out to improve and raced greenly thereafter.
 
CANNY AND THE JET - Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
BON TEMPS - When questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding trainer Mr W. Pomfrett stated that in his opinion the gelding had difficulty running a solid 1200 metres, and the drop back in distance today was beneficial to the horse's performance.
 
Race 4: Whitson & Dawson Mackay Classic QTIS 2-Y-O Handicap  -  1050 metres
1st  -  PARADIS IMPERIAL  2nd  -  ALLROUND GLORY  3rd   -  CRIMSON STAR  4th  -  ALL GIRLS ROCK

NOW ASK ME - Steadied when crowded for room near the 900 metres.
 
CRAIGLEA MAXX - Hung out rounding the home turn.
 
ALL GIRLS ROCK - Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event.
 
Race 5: 4 MK BenchMark 55 Handicap  -  1100 metres
1st  -  CLOSE THE BEACHES  2nd  -  GESTICULATION  3rd  -  KAP IT OFF  4th  -  THE TEENY HASS
 
THE TEENY HASS - Slow to begin. Near the 500 metres had to be restrained from the heels of COBUNGRA BOY (Jockey N. Day), which shifted in. Jockey N. Day was reprimanded and advised to show greater care.
 
COBUNGRA BOY - Blundered at the start. Was momentarily crowded for room near the 850 metres.
 
DELTA MAGIC - Bumped at the start.
 
CLOSE THE BEACHES - Bumped at the start.
 
KAP IT OFF - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
ELSPETH'S STAR - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
When asked to explain the poor performance of SOTTERO, which compounded in the home straight, rider D.Simmons advised stewards that in his opinion the mare had come to the end of its preparation and was disappointing. Trainer Ms T. Simmons informed stewards that it was now her intention to send SOTTERO for an immediate spell.
 
Race 6: Daily Mercury Class 3 Plate -  1300 metres
1st  -  STRONG WILL  2nd  -  METEOR STORM  3rd   -  LIGHTNING LORD  4th -  LAMERICAN
 
FORGIVE ME - The start was delayed when the gelding reared and became cast in the barriers. FORGIVE ME was removed from the barriers, examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and, acting on veterinary advice, stewards ordered the late withdrawal of FORGIVE ME at 3.09 p.m. Subsequently they ordered that all bets made on FORGIVE ME be refunded and that the following deductions apply:
 
            2¢ in the dollar for the win for the winner, STRONG WILL
            3¢ in the dollar for the place for the winner, STRONG WILL
            3¢ in the dollar for the place for second, METEOR STORM
            3¢ in the dollar for the place for third, LIGHTNING LORD
 
Trainer A. Cameron was advised that he must provide a further barrier certificate prior to FORGIVE ME being permitted to race again.
 
The start was further delayed when DASH OF WIZZARD (Apprentice N. Summers) became fractious in the barriers. After being examined by the club's veterinary surgeon DASH OF WIZZARD was cleared to take its place in the field.
 
DASH OF WIZZARD - Began awkwardly, shifted out and then raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
PERCULES - Began awkwardly, was bumped by another runner and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
METEOR STORM - Raced wide in the early and middle stages.
 
MIDNIGHT SONG - Over-raced in the early and middle stages and had to be restrained from heels.
 
TURKEY BEACH - Slow to begin. When questioned regarding it’s disappointing performance, rider S. Lacy explained the gelding travelled well until the 800 metres and then commenced to lay out from that point onwards, and was disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer C. Marsh stated TURKEY BEACH had worked well leading into today’s event and was at a loss to explain the performance. She added she would monitor the geldings progress and advise stewards if anything should come to her attention that may have affected the horse's performance. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding , revealed that it was slightly stepping short in its off front leg and a post-race swab sample was taken.

Race 7: Channel 7 Open Handicap - 1300 metres
1st  -  SPORTING PAGE  2nd  -  EMBRACE THE PAIN  3rd   -   MISHANI GLADIATOR  4th -  MORE THAN A SONG
 
The start was delayed when the saddle of SPORTING PAGE was late leaving the scales room as Apprentice Bayliss, the rider of that gelding, had difficulty accumulating sufficient packing to be able to make the allotted weight.

COVENTRY - Began awkwardly and shifted out. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
 
MORE THAN A SONG - Was bumped at the start. Shortly after the start was tightened for room and had to be steadied. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Close to the winning post had to be restrained to avoid the heels of  SPORTING PAGE (Ap p. C. Bayless), which hung in under pressure. Apprentice Bayliss was severely reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort to keep his mount straight in similar circumstances.
 
CRAIGLEA WANDOO - Was hampered close to the finish line.  Jockey A. Coome was fined $100 under A.R. 145 for returning to scale more than half a kilogram above his declared weight.
