GENERAL
 
As C. McIver failed to fulfil his engagements, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary. Stewards intend to interview jockey McIver regarding this matter.
 
Race 1: TAB MAIDEN H'CAP – 1560M
 
OR ELSE – Slow to begin.
 
STREET ROGUE – Jumped away awkwardly. Rider B. Pengelly reported that his mount hung in throughout the event.
 
BATTLE MOUNTAIN – Raced wide throughout.
 
CHLOE JADE – Rider S. Wilson pleaded guilty to excessive use of the whip (8 times prior to the 100m, 19 times in total) and was fined $300.
 
JINGAS – Hampered on jumping away. Raced wide throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
GOOD AS A ROCKET – Jumped away awkwardly. Hampered shortly after jumping away. Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 1200m to avoid the heels of NOTORIETY, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Apprentice M. Wishart, the rider of NOTORIETY, was severely reprimanded under AR131(a) and reminded of her obligations to be clear when shifting ground in future.
 
GREAT LOOKER – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
NOTORIETY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
SHAKA DIAMOND – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.
 
Race 2: MACKAY TURF GIRL COCKTAIL PARTY FRIDAY 27TH MARCH QTIS 2YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M
 
WHOSDAY – Jumped away awkwardly. Finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that WHOSDAY would be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial prior to a future race start.
 
I FEEL REAL – Rider B. Pengelly pleaded guilty to a charge under AR211(1) of returning to scale in excess of half a kilogram over the horse’s allotted weight and was fined $200.
 
COLOUR PERFECT – Contacted on jumping away.
 
Race 3: MACKAY TURF GIRL ANZAC DAY RACEDAY SATURDAY 25TH APRIL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300M
 
TARTUFO BIANCO was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 2:21 pm. On the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on TARTUFO BIANCO be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 2:21 pm:
 
1 cent in the dollar for the win #2
12 cents in the dollar for place of winner #2
9 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #8
1 cent in the dollar for 3rd place #5
 
GRAND DE LAGO – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
SIR VAN DYKE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
TA CHANSON – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
LENNON’S PADDOCK – Raced wide throughout. Rider S. Wiseman reported that her mount felt awkward in its action on returning to scale. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 4: SILK LASER CLINIC MACKAY CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1100M
 
DANCING TYCOON – Had to be restrained shortly after jumping away when racing in restricted room, then overraced in the early and middle stages. When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, jockey R. Wiggins stated that after being hampered shortly after jumping away, his mount overraced, however, in his opinion will take benefit from the run.
 
CLIFTON COUNTY – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 600m after improving on to the heels of FREEFICA, then continued to overrace for a short distance thereafter.
 
WIRRAWAY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
GRACIOUS GARCON – Trainer T. Bannon was reprimanded under AR103(4)(c)(i) for failing to update the horse’s ownership on the stable return. Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance, jockey/trainer T. Bannon stated that her mount raced disappointingly throughout the event, adding that she looked to experiment with gear prior to a future race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 5: MOSS ON WOOD MACKAY OPEN H'CAP – 1100M
 
PALLADIAN – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SENSATION ALLY – When questioned regarding the performance jockey B. Pengelly stated that his mount never felt comfortable in its action and as such he did not place the mare under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
INQUIRY – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
ROCKETHEAD – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Race 6: RYDGES MACKAY SUITES BENCHMARK 69 H'CAP – 1300M
 
WALK THE TALK – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
DISTRICT – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 800m after improving on to the heels of WALK THE TALK. Continued to overrace until approaching the 600m.
 
STONE WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Jockey B. Thomson pleaded guilty to excessive use of the whip (9 times prior to the 100m, 16 times in total) and was fined $300.
 
ELLE A WALKING – Slow to begin. Jockey B. Pengelly pleaded guilty to excessive use of the whip (8 times prior to the 100m, 14 times in total) and was fined $100. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account B. Pengelly’s excellent record in relation to whip breaches.
 
DON’T WE LOVE IT – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
INVISIBLE GIRL – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
SAN RAYMOND – Raced wide without cover throughout the event.
 
Race 7: SEVEN NEWS MACKAY BENCHMARK 55 H'CAP – 1560M
 
UPPER DELIGHT – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey R. Wiggins stated that his mount laid in throughout the event and was disappointing in its finishing efforts. Trainer’s representative Mr G. Wehlow stated that UPPER DELIGHT had pleased in its work leading into today’s event and he was surprised with the disappointing performance. He added that in his opinion UPPER DELIGHT may not have run out a strong 1560m and undertook to advise stewards how the horse pulls up in coming days. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
DIAMOND DIVA – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Apprentice R. Shred pleaded guilty to excessive use of the whip, 10 times prior to the 100m -14 times in total) and was fined $100. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account that this was apprentice Shred’s first breach of the whip rules. Apprentice R Shred was also reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip on consecutive strides.
 
FEATHER YOUR NEST – Shied at a shadow on the track in the vicinity of the 600m and became awkward in its stride.
 
RESINITE – Slow to begin.
 
SOUND INVESTMENT – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
DEEJAYBEAT – Slow to begin.
 
PERFECTLY ALIGNED – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 800m after improving on to the heels of FEATHER YOUR NEST.
