GENERAL
 
As B Appo was indisposed and unable to attend the meeting, replacements were permitted as per raceday summary.
 
Race 1: S.H. TAIT & CO QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres
 
Cracker Essgee – Overraced in the early stages. Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
Colour Perfect – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey N Day reported that in his opinion, the filly may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer F Smith advised that COLOUR PERFECT would now be spelled.
 
Plenty Of Ticker – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 2: MCDONALD MURPHY MACHINERY Class 6 Plate 1560 metres
 
Was It Worth It – Trainer advised of a change of tactics to attempt to settle further forward if circumstances permitted. Settled mid to back after failing to muster early gate speed. When questioned regarding the poor performance, jockey R Wiggins stated he could offer no excuse for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J Wehlow advised that he would report back on the condition of the gelding in the subsequent days.
 
Don't Doubt Lara – Passing the 700m, had to take evasive action to avoid the heels of the weakening RED SATIN.
 
Combattant De Rue – Laid in under pressure in the early stages.
 
Notoriety – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Favor of God – Approaching the 1300m, raced in restricted room to the inside of EXTREME WITNESS and COMBATTANT DE RUE which laid in.
 
Red Satin – Slow to begin. Began to weaken noticeably from the 700m and was subsequently pulled out of the race. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer J Manzelmann was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).
 
Vamparina – Dipped shortly after jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
Race 3: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 Handicap 1560 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow N Day, rider of 2nd placegetter SCENT OF FEAR to view the patrol films to ascertain whether there were grounds for an objection. After viewing the available films, he declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared.
 
Soldiers – Approaching the 1300m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of TRACKMAN. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Jockey P Romeo was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the line.
 
Sir Van Dyke – Overraced in the middle stages.
 
Autmed – When questioned regarding the poor performance, rider C Jokic stated that gelding felt awkward in its action when placed under pressure in the straight and as a result, elected to not place her mount under pressure over the concluding stages. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Jokic advised he would report back on the condition of the gelding over the subsequent days.
 
Trackman – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Tavi Mcbride – When questioned regarding the performance, rider J Stanley stated that in his opinion TAVI MCBRIDE would be better suited racing closer to the speed as he believes the gelding is one paced. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS Maiden Handicap 1100 metres
 
Captain Fox – Jumped away awkwardly shifting in contacting HARRINGTON. Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
Azioc – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and commenced to buck shortly after, losing considerable distance. Trainer O Cairns was advised AZIOC would be required to barrier trial prior to its next start.
 
Fizz – Laid out under pressure in the straight.
 
Zebonet – Hung out over the concluding stages.
 
Harrington – Contacted on jumping away. Laid out rounding the home turn and became awkwardly placed on the heels of MOGALAKWENA.
 
Mogalakwena – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Annmarie – Raced wide throughout.
 
Balnagal – Raced wide throughout.
 
Good As A Rocket – Slow to begin and was inconvenienced shortly after jumping.
 
Mr Palomino – Apprentice M Potgieter was examined by ambulance officers after being dislodged enroute to the barriers and was cleared to fulfill his engagement. Jumped away awkwardly.
 
Race 5: BOOK NOW FOR MELBOURNE CUP Class 2 Handicap 1100 metres
 
Holy Freeze – Approaching the 600m, had to be steadied and shifted wider after improving onto the heels of GOLDIE’S ARCHER.
 
Moreno – Approaching the 800m, was momentarily inconvenienced and carried out onto THE SWELL by ZIPSPUR which rolled out marginally.
 
Zipspur – Approaching the 800m, was hampered and had its hindquarters turned by MORENO which was carried out by ZIPSPUR who rolled out marginally.
 
Bondage – Commenced to buck shortly after the start. Trainer C Taylor was advised that BONDAGE would be required to barrier trial prior to its next start.
 
The Swell – Approaching the 800m, had its hindquarters turned by MORENO and became awkward in its stride as a result.
 
Zeblan – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 6: TAB MAKE A DATE WITH PLAY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1200 metres
 
Ta Chanson – Overraced in the early stages.
 
Elle a Walking- Declared a late scratching at 4.28pm on veterinary advice after it was found to be lame in the near foreleg.Upon declaration of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on ELLE A WALKING be refunded with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to 4.28pm:
 
0 cents in the dollar for all win bets #2 (TA CHANSON)
2 cents in the dollar for all place bets #2 (TA CHANSON)
4 cents in the dollar for all place bets #5 (MR TINDALL)
10 cents in the dollar for all place bets #8 (ROCKETHEAD)
 
Trainer J Manzelmann was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior to ELLE A WALKING starting again.
 
Mr Tindall – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Raced wide throughout.
 
Miss Defiance – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 900m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels. Commenced to race fiercely rounding the home turn.
 
Race 7: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1300 metres
 
Flat to Stack – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after breaking the through the barriers and galloping a short distance and was subsequently passed fit to start.
 
More Gee – Raced wide in the middle stages.
 
Malvagio – Jumped away awkwardly shifting out abruptly contacting MIGHTY MEERKAT. Jockey A Sewell was fined $300 for using his whip 6 times prior to the 100m, one more than permissible under the rule.
 
Petite Elle – Shifted in abruptly on jumping contacting MIGHTY MEERKAT. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced greenly when placed under pressure over the concluding stages and shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages despite the efforts of its rider.
 
Street Rogue – Stood flat footed as the start was affected and missed the start as a result. Trainer O Cairns was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.
 
Visavis – In the vicinity of the 100m, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of PETITE ELLE, which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.
 
I Feel Real – Raced wide throughout.
 
She's Maganda – Approaching the 1000m became awkwardly placed on the heels of GETOUT OF MY NEIGH and had to be steadied.
 
Mighty Meerkat – Hampered on jumping away by MALVAGIO which shifted out and PETITE ELLE which shifted in.
