GENERAL



As Apprentice Alisha Donald was injured prior to today’s meeting she was subsequently replaced as per the Stewards Summary.



Jockey S. Fawke was fined $400 under AR127(1) for failing to fulfil his engagements for Race 2 and 6. Replacements as per the Stewards Summary.





Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY Class 3 Plate 1800 metres



LETS TORQUE A DEEL – Raced keen in the early and middle stages. Raced three-wide without cover throughout the early and middle stages before obtaining the leading position near the 800m.



STAR OF LEON – Began awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.



FLEETINGLY – Began awkwardly and lost ground.





Race 2: BOOK EVENT CENTRE FOR FUNCTIONS QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1050 metres



GOOGAZ – Laid in near the 900m, making contact with DOUBLE PROOF.



MISSION HOUSE – Began awkwardly, making contact with MY DAD’S BETTER.



PRIMED MELODY – Slow into stride.



DOUBLE PROOF – Improved onto heels near the 600m and was forced to steady. Shifted out marginally near the 500m, placing its rider momentarily unbalanced.



HEROIC KITTY – Improved onto heels near the 300m and was forced to steady. Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Felix reported that his mount raced greenly throughout.



MY DAD’S BETTER – Bumped on jumping with MISSION HOUSE.



REAL BOSSY – Brushed the running rail near the 650m, placing its rider momentarily unbalanced.



SHE’S WINNING – Bumped near the 900m when GOOGAZ laid in.



SECRET QUALITY – Began awkwardly. Raced three-wide without cover in the early and middle stages before obtaining a position outside the leader near the 600m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.





Race 3: BECOME A MEMBER OF THE MTC Maiden Plate 1050 metres



CAMO’S DREAM – Steadied from the heels near the 900m.



THORBEN – Raced wide without cover throughout.



YOU CHOOSE – When racing tight to the outside of FLAMING ASTERIOD near the 600m, and was forced to steady, losing ground when BROOK’S GIRL shifted in marginally.



JIMBO JONES – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.



LATERALLY – Slow to begin.



BROOK’S GIRL – Shifted in marginally near the 600m, placing another runner to its inside in restricted room.



KATEY GIRL – Began awkwardly.



LADY SHEILACK – Began awkwardly.



SADLER’S MISS – Began awkwardly.



FLAMING ASTERIOD – Raced in restricted room and was forced outwards near the 600m when YOU CHOOSE laid in.





Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres



ROUNDABOUTRUSSELL – Raced wide without cover throughout. Tailed off from the 400m, taking no further competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer F. Smith advised that following today’s disappointing performance, he would make an assessment on the horse’s post-race recovery prior to making a determination on its preparation.



TARGET THE STARS – Began awkwardly.



MISHANI DREAMER – Laid in when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. Held up momentarily nearing the 300m, before shifting out to obtain clear running.





Race 5: BOOK FOR AMATEURS SATURDAY 28TH MAY BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1050 metres



BEST GUESS – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have bled from both nostrils. Connections were advised BEST GUESS would be barred from racing for a period of three months and would need to gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing.



ASPEN LAD – Began awkwardly.



ZIPSPUR – Improved onto heels and forced to steady near the 300m.



WREN PLUCKED – Raced keen in the early stages.





Race 6: SKY RACING OPEN Handicap 1300 metres



The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards a view of the photo finish image. Subsequently, Stewards were satisfied with the placings and declared correct weight.



BERNIE’S TIGER – Began awkwardly.



FRATELLINO – Laid in throughout the event.



SVINDAL – Slow into stride.



SCHAPPOSE – Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages.





Race 7: HAPPY ST PATS DAY THURSDAY BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1300 metres



QUART POT – Began awkwardly.



MAN O’ROSS – Slow to begin.



ALLANON – Shifted out over the concluding stages. Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip six times prior to the 100m.



SHARINDI – Raced keenly throughout.



Following the event, Apprentice J. Doolan advised she had injured her right wrist.



Race 8: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 29TH MARCH RATINGS BAND 0 – 55 Handicap 1100
metres


MURANO MAGIC – Began awkwardly.



CHEYENNE BEACH – Began awkwardly.



TIACLAIR – Tightened for room on jumping.



SILVAPLANA – Began awkwardly.
