Doolan advised that it was her instructions to settle the gelding mid field however after being caught wide in the early stages she elected to take a rearward position. Stewards further questioned apprentice Doolan on the tactics she adopted between the 600m and the 400m, where it was the opinion of stewards that she could have displayed more vigour when riding the gelding. Apprentice Doolan advised that as she is a relatively inexperienced apprentice, after reviewing the race, she was of the opinion that she eared in judgment and in hindsight would have been better served to try and attempt a more forward position earlier in the event. Stewards noted apprentice Doolan’s explanation and will refer the ride to the riding skills panel for education purposes.
