GENERAL

Overweight permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres

BUSH DIAMOND – Hung out under pressure over the final 300m.

I'M FAMOUS – Began awkwardly.

PARIS ART – Slow to begin and bumped with DIVINE SIENNA soon after the start.

DIVINE SIENNA – Slow to begin and bumped with PARIS ART soon after the start. Jockey Ryan Wiggins advised that the filly raced greenly during the early stages losing contact with the main body of field before racing more genuinely over the final 500m. The rider further added that he felt that PARIS ART would derive benefit from further racing experience.

Race 2: BOOK FOR XMAS RACEDAY SAT 17 DEC OPEN Handicap 1300 metres

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to view the replays of the start. After viewing the replays and speaking with starter, John McIntosh, it was established that when the starter went to initiate the start, he inadvertently paused due to the fractious nature of some runners before starting the race which resulted in some runners anticipating the start immediately prior to the field being released. Stewards could not be satisfied that any runner was denied a fair start and correct weight was declared.

SVINDAL – Over raced during the early and middle stages.

FRATELLINO – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide early before obtaining the lead near the 800m.

PATROLLING – Slow to begin.

Race 3: SKY RACING Maiden Handicap 1100 metres

The start was delayed due to CADDY proving difficult to load.

ELVIARE – Began awkwardly.

LA FEMME DE FORTE – Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

RUN PEGGY RUN – Raced wide early and middle stages.

ANGELS LANDING – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

CADDY – Proved very difficult to load and delayed the start. Due to the horses recent starting manners, the mare must pass a satisfactory barrier test prior to racing again.

SUMMER OF GLORY – Underwent remedial farrier work prior to the start.

MISHANI PATRIOT – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Jockey Adam Spinks was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) (7th offence) for applying the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Plate 1100 metres

BIT OF FUN – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice Jade Doolan was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) (1st offence) for applying the whip to her mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted.

KURYAKIN – Raced wide throughout.

QUEST OF QUESTS – Shifted in at the start tightening MIA’S DREAM. Raced ungenerously for a distance leaving the 500m. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

THE COMPANY – Began Awkwardly and bumped with MIA’S DREAM. Raced greenly throughout the run.

MIA'S DREAM – Bumped at the start and was tightened for room when QUEST OF QUESTS shifted in abruptly.

SEDUCTIVE SPUR – Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the home straight.

SHEZABLAST – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Race 5: JIM LAW RACE PHOTOGRAPHY Class 6 Plate 1100 metres

TEST OF WAR – Slow to begin and hampered soon after the start.

THE SNOOPERSTAR – Raced wide early.

FINALLY REALISE – Very slow to begin.

LEADERSHIP SPILL – Shifted in after the start hampering TEST OF WAR.

WIT – Stumbled soon after the start.

Race 6: MICKY APRILE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1100 metres

MISHANI REBEL – Jumped awkwardly.

ORNATE – Slow to begin.

LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Raced wide in the early and middle stages.

ANNAKURI – Raced wide early.

DEVIL – Raced fiercely early and middle stages. Restrained off the heels of ANNAKURI near the 800m. Shifted out abruptly near the 600m, when being restrained. Connections were advised that a warning has been placed against the racing manners of the gelding.

CHATILLY – Began awkwardly.

Race 7: BECOME A MEMBER OF THE MTC BENCHMARK 55 Handicap1100 metres

MISHANI REBOUND – Began awkwardly. Shifted in soon after the start bumping with SHE’S OUT THERE and as a result was checked.

NASA – Raced wide throughout.

STILL FEELING IT – Began awkwardly bumping with CHESTO’S DREAM. Jockey Justin Stanley explained that he did not ride his mount out fully over the final 80m as he was placed directly behind CHALKLEY, when that runner had shifted inwards. Mr Stanley further stated that despite this occurrence, his mounts run had ended and the incident did not have a bearing on the finishing position of STILL FEELING IT. As the comments of the Jockey were supported by the available replays, no further course of action was required.

GYPSY ROZAY – Hung out noticeably near the 600m and lost momentum. Continued to lay out over the final 500m.

CHESTO'S DREAM – Bumped with STILL FEELING IT at the start. Raced wide throughout.

SHE'S OUT THERE – Cramped for room on jumping and bumped with MISHANI REBOUND.

MARNDARRA – Slow to begin.


Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1560 metres

SHADOW GODDESS – Slow to begin.

ELLE A WALKING – Slow into stride. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination as jockey Alisha Donald express concerns regarding the gelding’s action. The gelding was found to be lame in the off foreleg and has been stood down from racing until the receipt of a veterinary clearance.

WAY BACK WHEN – Began awkwardly.

GHOSTED – Slow to begin and bumped with SHADOW GODESS after the start.

HILVERSTON – Blundered after the start.

MOENAVE – Jockey Justin Stanley advised that the gelding settled further back than anticipated due to the tempo, however travelled well throughout. Mr Stanley further added that MOENAVE commenced to lay in from the home turn and was briefly held up for a clear run near the 200m.

PHOENIX FLYER – Raced wide throughout.

GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) – Began awkwardly.

MY GIRL SPIRIT – Began awkwardly.


Race 9: RACING AGAIN SATURDAY 17TH DECEMBER Class 3 Handicap 1300 metres

AURON – Slow to begin. Bumped and checked after the start.

JABALI GOLD – Jumped inwards sharply at the start bumping LINJUN TOPGUN. Hung out under pressure. Jockey Justin Stanley advised that despite having to work in the initial stages the gelding performed well below expectations. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

YUBETIDO – Slow to begin.

THE ABYSS (NZ) – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

LINGJUN TOPGUN – Bumped at the start and shifted inwards checking AURON.

Summary of rider changes/Late notifications

Race 5 Pietro Romeo was the approved late rider replacement for TEST OF WAR after declared rider Tasha Chambers advised she had encountered mechanical issues. The mechanical issues were verified by an independent person to the satisfaction of stewards.

Race 6 Brooke Johnson was the approved late rider replacement on MISHANI REBEL due to declared rider Shae Nielson being indisposed. Ms Nielson was advised that a medical clearance is required prior to her resuming riding.

Late scratchings

Race 3 FAIRYBOWER FLYER @ 11.55am due to no available suitable rider when declared rider Nathan Day was delayed on route to the course.
