GENERAL
Overweight permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Due to a considerable number of jockeys being delayed as a result of flight delays, all races were put back one time slot with the last race rescheduled to 5.40pm.
 
Race 1: TAB LONG MAY WE PLAY QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1050 metres
 
OOVII – Briefly tightened near the 750m.
 
DRAGON'S SNIP – Re-saddled prior to the start. Raced wide during the early stages. Bumped with PARIS ART near the 750m which resulted in OOVII being briefly tightened when racing on the rail. Laid out over the concluding stages.
 
MISHANI TYCOON – Raced wide in the early stages.
 
MISHANI VALOUR – Was slow to begin and bumped with MISHANI DIAMOND after the start. Slow to muster early speed.
 
LEIBERT LASS – Raced keenly when being restrained shortly after the start.
 
MISHANI DIAMOND – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious when being transported to the course. Minor lacerations of nil significance were detected, and the filly was cleared to start. Bumped with MISHANI VALOUR soon after the start. Slow to muster early speed.
 
PARIS ART – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 2: SKY RACING Maiden Plate 1050 metres
 
ELVIARE – Carried wider near the 200m.
 
ENUFF FOR ME – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having started in the preceding twelve months and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Over raced through the early stages and improved onto heels near the 800m.
 
CADDY – Reluctant to load. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils and the mare has been stood down for three months and must complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of the Stewards pursuant to AR79(4).
 
CHILENA – Rider C Lennon was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. Mr Lennon was also further reprimanded under AR132(5) for using his whip on 15 occasions in total, 1 more than permitted. Jockey Lennon was also reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessly allowing his mount to shift out noticeably under a hard ride in the home straight resulting in ELVIARE being carried wider near the 200m.
 
FLYING CARMEN – Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a minor abrasion to the near side stifle area.
 
VALENTINA EXPRESS – Raced wide through the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have bled from both nostrils and the mare has been stood down for three months and must complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in the presence of the Stewards pursuant to AR79(4).
 
 
Race 3: HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE MTC QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
REDWANA – Laid in under pressure over the final 500m.
 
FLAMING HOMER – Shifted outwards at the start.
 
CITY MISSION – Fractious prior to the jump.
 
TWISTED SISTER – Bumped shortly after the jump by KINGMATE which shifted wider on the track.
 
LEVALET – Raced wide during the early stages.
 
KINGMATE – Bumped with TWISTED SISTER shortly after the start. Raced awkwardly for a number of strides racing near the 600m.
 
MISHANI JET – Fractious prior to the start. Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: STARCUT FLOWERS QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 1 Handicap 1050 metres
 
SO NOBLE – Shifted outwards shortly after the jump hampering MISHANI JEWEL which in turn bumped with MISHANI PLATINUM. Jockey Ashley Butler was reminded of his requirement to ensure his mounts are ridden out fully to the finish. In not taking further action stewards were satisfied that any failure on behalf of the rider did not impact the outcome of the race.
 
DOVI'S DAY – Shifted in after the start and bumped with EYE PEA OH READY. Raced wide through the early stages.
 
EYE PEE OH READY – Bumped and hampered at the start when DOVI’S DAY shifted inwards. Raced wide early stages. Brushed with MISHANI PLATINUM near the 200m.
 
PEGGIE BOOM – Jumped away awkwardly bumping with BIT OF FUN. Become unbalanced around the first turn when galloped on behind. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion and swelling to the near hind hock region with a veterinary clearance required prior to resuming racing.
 
WICKED CHANCE – Held up for a clear run until inside the 200m.
 
MISHANI JEWEL – Hampered on jumping.
 
BIT OF FUN – Bumped on jumping. Hung in racing into the first turn and galloped on the heels of PEGGIE BOOM resulting in that runner becoming unbalanced. Jockey Nathan Thomas was reminded of his requirement to ensure his mounts are ridden out fully to the finish. In not taking further action stewards were satisfied that any failure on behalf of the rider did not impact the outcome of the race.
 
MARSHY – Hung outwards passing the turn near the 800m.
 
MISHANI PLATINUM – Brushed with EYE PEA OH READY near the 200m.
 
TORQUE IS SAVVY – Began awkwardly and contacted the outside of the barrier partition.
 
 
Race 5: JOIN THE MTC 100 CLUB Class 6 Plate 1560 metres
 
KINGS COUNTY – Began awkwardly.
 
ZIPSPUR – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MAGNETIC DRIVE – Over raced in the early stages when being restrained. Improved wide during the middle stages.
 
 
Race 6: SMARTSTATE RENTALS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 Handicap1560 metres
 
FLAMING TORCH (NZ) – Laid in under pressure over the final 300m.
 
BIL COLYNS – Raced wide during the early stages.

FORSETI – Slow to begin.
 
MILKY ROCKET – Lay inwards final stages.

MARNDARRA – Raced 3 wide early.

GETOUT OF MY NEIGH (NZ) – Jockey Colin Lennon was fined $200 under AR211(1) for returning to scale one kilogram overweight.
 
 
 
Race 7: PHOTO BOOTH MAGIC MACKAY OPEN Handicap1100 metres
 
AMMOUDI BAY – Raced keenly middle stages.
 
CINNAMON MISSILE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having started in the preceding twelve months and was cleared to start.
 
FRATELLINO – Tightened near the 100m when WIT shifted outwards marginally after obtaining a tight inside run.

LEADERSHIP SPILL – Very fractious in the barriers.

WIT – Began awkwardly. Held up for racing room until approaching the 200m.
 
SUCH A WHIT – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin. Inclined to hang out on occasions during the run.
 
 
Race 8: TAB BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100 metres
 
LIFETIME QUEST – Placed awkwardly on heels leaving the 800m before clipping the heels of MYSTERIOUS ART near the 750m. Bumped by SIBERIAN ROUTE near the 300m.
 
SIBERIAN ROUTE – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having started in the preceding twelve months and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Laid inwards throughout the home straight.

BIGGER THAN THORN – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin as a result.
 
TEST OF WAR – Raced wide throughout.

GRACIOUS GARCON – Began awkwardly.
 
GLEN ISLA MILER – Raced in restricted room shortly after the start. Hung out rounding the 800m turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the off foreleg. The connections were advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the filly resuming racing.
 
 
 
Race 9: BLUE RIVER LANDSCAPE SUPPLIES BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1100 metres
 
There was a 3 minute delay to the start of this race due to the oncourse veterinarian being required to attend to another runner in the tie up stalls.
 
PARKBURN – Apprentice Liv O’Donnell advised the gelding felt short in its action when pulling up. Trainer Jamie McConachy stated the horse pulled up heavy in the wind and would look to increase the horses racing distance with further fitness. A post-race veterinary examination of PARKBURN failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
COCHRANE – Jumped in the air at the start.
 
CHALKLEY – Knuckled on jumping and bumped with SOUND OF SLEAT.
 
LILY ALLEZ (NZ) – Bumped at the start with SWEET FANTASY.
 
SOUND OF SLEAT – Bumped at the start with CHALKLEY.
 
SWEET FANTASY – Bumped at the start with LILLY ALLEZ (NZ).
 
KASHKAR – Raced wide through the early stages.
 
WREN PLUCKED – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
Race 10: RACING AGAIN TUESDAY 14TH FEB BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1300 metres
 
POLICE (NZ) – Began awkwardly and contacted the outside barrier partition.
 
AURON – Slow to begin. Over raced during the early stages.
 
EDIFICATION – Shifted ground outwards approaching the 250m to obtain clear running.
 
ANNAKURI – Raced keenly during the running. Jockey Adam Sewell advised that upon pulling up the gelding was making abnormal respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.
 
CIAO BICKY – Raced wide for the majority.
 
NATIVE BEE – Slipped behind on jumping and was slow to begin. Raced wide early stages.
 
NASA – Raced wide over the early stages.
 
GOLDEN ATHENA – Jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
FLYING SHAMUS – Began awkwardly.
 
IXELLES – Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.
 
PERSAGA – Began awkwardly.
