GENERAL

En-route to the racecourse, Trainer M. Geaney advised stewards that DISONEY had become fractious in the float while traveling and had slipped over. Trainer M. Geaney also advised that DISONEY had been situated between two other runners on the float, AWE and FANCIFUL MR FOX, at the time of the incident and unknowing if any injuries had been sustained to those two runners, Stewards ordered that all 3 horses undergo veterinary examinations prior to being cleared to start. AWE and FANCIFUL MR FOX both underwent pre-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities and were cleared to start. DISONEY was declared a late scratching at 3:51pm after a pre-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have superficial abrasions to its near-fore fetlock, near hind and near-side girth region. Trainer M. Geaney was advised that prior to its next future race start, DISONEY would require a veterinary certificate.

Race 2 – HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Scott Sheargold – +1kg


Race 1: LADBROKE IT! BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP (1800 Metres)

ROCK 'N' SOL – Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 10:10am after ROCK ‘N’ SOL had sustained an injury to its offside foreleg. Trainer T. Cook was advised that ROCK ‘N’ SOL would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next future race start.

ROSOVO – Shifted in on jumping, hampering LET’S TORQUE A DEEL. Overraced in the early stages. Passing the 800m, elected to shift wider in an attempt to obtain a leading position. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SHADOW GODDESS – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed at the Home Hill meeting on the 28th November 2023 and was cleared to start. Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.

LIFETIME QUEST – Jumped away awkwardly.

STARS DON'T RUST – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

LET’S TORQUE A DEEL – Slow to begin and was hampered shortly after by ROSOVO which shifted in and DOOM DIVA which shifted out.

LEICA BITA FUN – Jumped away awkwardly.

FROM THIS MOMENT – Raced wide in the early stages. Commenced to overrace passing the 1100m.

DOOM DIVA – Shifted out on jumping, hampering LET’S TORQUE A DEEL. Overraced in the early stages of the event. Had to steady after becoming awkwardly placed onto the heels of STARS DON’T RUST when passing the crossing near the 1600m.


Race 2: LADBROKES ODDS SURGE CLASS 4 HANDICAP (1560 Metres)

FRESH PRINCE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

AWE – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

VITESSE FRANCAIS – Jumped away awkwardly.

HUNUA HANK (NZ) – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.


Race 3: CHRISTMAS MEETING SATURDAY 16TH DECEMBER RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP (1560 Metres)

MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) – Attempted to shift out to obtain clear racing room when entering the home straight, bumping with THUNDER KNOB for a number of strides. Jockey J. Huxtable dropped his whip near the 300m.

KNOWITALL JACK (NZ) – Laid in and bumped THUNDER KNOB rounding the home turn. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

MISS SHALAA – Overraced in the early stages.

APRIL LOVE – Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Murphy stated that his mount raced ungenerously in the early stages. He also reported that his saddle had shifted in the middle stages, which placed him in difficulty fully testing his mount out over the concluding stages.

NINE CARATS – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

THUNDER KNOB – Laid out rounding the home turn and was inconvenienced near the 400m when KNOWITALL JACK (NZ) laid in and bumped THUNDER KNOB inwards, despite the efforts of its rider, and when MURRAJONG ROAD (NZ) shifted out when attempting to obtain clear racing room.

RED FLASH – Jumped away awkwardly, making contact with the outside barrier partition. Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

THE ABYSS (NZ) – Slow to begin.


Race 4: SMARTSTATE RENTALS MAIDEN PLATE (1200 Metres)

FANCIFUL MR FOX – Laid out when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

IMPERIUM – Bumped with ROY’S ROAD near the 200m.

C'EST BELLE – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.

ROMAN QUEEN – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room before to electing to shift in to obtain clear racing room near the 200m.

ROY'S ROAD – Raced in restricted room near the 200m and shifted out to obtain clear racing room, bumping with IMPERIUM. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SPICCATO – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

LUTINE BELLE – Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Stanley reported to stewards that his mount felt awkward in its action in the home straight. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G. Bell was advised to report on the condition of the mare in the coming days.


Race 5: CHERYL GREEN SPRAY TANNING BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1200 Metres)

KEFALONIA – Raced wide throughout.

LUVIN' OUR GRACE – Had to momentarily steady to avoid the heels of TOM ROCKS which had shifted in for a stride when insufficiently clear near the 1000m. Jockey J. Taylor was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for allowing his mount to shift when insufficiently clear. Bumped with CHATILLY near the 350m. Was held up before electing to shift in to obtain clear racing room near the 300m.

LUCIA MARIA – Reared as the start was affected. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that a warning would be placed on the mare’s record.

CHATILLY – Hung out from the 700m until entering the home straight. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that a warning would be placed mare’s record. Bumped with LUVIN’ OUR GRACE near the 350m.

LENNY ROCKET – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

THE HAIRDRESSER – Upon returning to scale, Jockey J. Stanley reported to stewards that it wasn’t his intention to lead, however THE HAIRDRESSER was found to be in a leading position after beginning well from the inside barrier and due to the lack of pace in the early stages of the race, elected to settle in the lead position. Jockey J. Stanley also reported that filly was also inclined to hang out from the 600m.

DAWN REBEL – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.


Race 6: MACKAY GAMING SERVICES QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD RATINGS BAND 0 - 60 HANDICAP (1100 Metres)

CHUCKA DUMMY – Near the 1000m, was severely checked and had to restrain to avoid the heels of THE BLONDE GODDESS which was dictated inwards by HARCH ROAD, which shifted in whilst under riding. At inquiry, Apprentice B. Johnson, rider of HARCH ROAD, was found guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR131(a) in that she allowed her mount to shift in near the 1000m when insufficiently clear of THUNDERBIRD, which had to check to avoid heels, and then continued to allow her mount to shift inwards resulting in THE BLONDE GODDESS being dictated in across the running of CHUCKA DUMMY and KARAKAROO, which resulted in both runners having to severely check. Apprentice B. Johnson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 13 days commencing midnight 10th December 2023 and to conclude midnight 23rd December 2023. Apprentice B. Johnson was advised of her rights of appeal.

ORCA – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

KARAKAROO – Near the 1000m, had to severely check to avoid heels of THE BLONDE GODDESS which was dictated inwards.

THE BLONDE GODDESS – Near the 1000m, had to restrain after being dictated inwards by HARCH ROAD which shifted in.

FORCESOME – Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SHEZAPEARLER – Had to steady when racing onto the heels of THUNDERBIRD near the 1000m. Had to momentarily steady when racing onto the heels of ORCA approaching the 800m.

THUNDERBIRD – Approaching the 1000m, had to steady to avoid the heels of HARCH ROAD which shifted in when insufficiently clear to do so.


Race 7: RACING AGAIN SATURDAY 16TH DECEMBER CLASS 3 HANDICAP (1050 Metres)

HARVESTA – Slow into stride.

MISHANI MAVERICK – Raced wide throughout.

FIGHT IN THE DOG – Overraced in the early stages. Had to shift out to obtain clear racing room after being awkwardly placed onto the heels of ACT OF ROYALTY passing the 600m. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages.

SCHATZI – Held up for clear racing room upon entering the home straight until the 350m.

CHALKLEY – Approaching the winning post, had to momentarily steady and restrain to avoid the heels of MISHANI MAVERICK which shifted out and HARVESTA which shifted in simultaneously. After reviewing the stewards patrol footage, Apprentice T. Fenlon (MISHANI MAVERICK) and Jockey J. Murphy (HARVESTA) were reminded of their obligations in keeping their mounts straight over the concluding stages.

ACT OF ROYALTY – Shifted out on jumping, bumping IXELLES. Raced wide in the early stages.

IXELLES – Bumped on jumping by ACT OF ROYALTY.
