GENERAL

The club was advised that prior to the next race meeting a service and maintenance check is to be performed on the starting barriers.

Race 1: Redline Brangus Burnett to the Beach Benchmark 55 Handicap – 1400 metres

ESTHETIC – Slow to begin.

HOMECALL – Slow to begin.

MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin. Raced wide from near the 800 metres. Hung out leaving the home turn.

MASTER RICHARD – Jumped outwards at the start. Raced three-wide without cover in the early stages.

ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Slow to begin.

Race 2: Patrons QTIS Maiden Plate - 1000 metres

After the start but before the finish of this event, the photo finish camera malfunctioned. As a result, no photo finish was available for this race. As Stewards were satisfied with the judges’ placings, correct weight was declared on the Judge’s numbers.

PIERROTTI – Stood flat footed and missed the start. Trainer D Whyte was advised that the gelding would have a warning recorded against it’s record for standing flat footed at the start.

LADY SHEILACK – Raced in restricted room for a short distance shortly after the start.

CHILLI PALMER – Hung out noticeably from near the 700 metres, placing the rider at a disadvantage. Trainer L Wanless was advised that a warning would be placed on the colt’s record.

TAKERU – Forced wider approaching the 200 metres as a result of CHILLI PALMER hanging out.

Race 3: Arnie & Rene Rideout Memorial Benchmark 50 Handicap - 1000 metres

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards interviewed the starter and viewed the available patrol footage to ascertain whether any runner had obtained an unfair advantage at the start. After doing so, Stewards ascertained that the starter had effected the start and, that MR NODDY’s gate had opened marginally earlier than the rest of the field. However, Stewards were not satisfied that MR NODDY had obtained an unfair advantage, as the gelding jumped with the rest of the field and accordingly, declared correct weight.

DUKATTI – Severely checked on jumping causing App. S Stephan to become significantly unbalanced. App. Stephan reported that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

FUDGINIT – Jumped outwards abruptly at the start. Shifted in under pressure over the final 200 metres.

ALL GAIN – Broke through the gates and travelled a short distance before being restrained. After returning to the barriers, the veterinary surgeon examined the mare and cleared the mare to take its place in the field.

LA BELLE LA BELLE – Severely checked on jumping.

Race 4: Gordon & Evelyn Hutton Memorial Class B Handicap - 1200 metres

Prior to start of this event, the barriers were tested to ensure that they were working correctly.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards, in the presence of Jockey M Cox viewed the available patrol film of the start. After doing so, it was apparent that the gates of the barrier which MEGLIO had been loaded in had opened significantly later than the remainder of the field, resulting in MEGLIO being denied a fair start and MEGLIO’s chances of finishing in the first four placings being materially prejudiced. Stewards declared MEGLIO a non-starter and ordered that all wagers on MEGLIO be refunded with the following deductions being applicable to all other wagers:

12 cents for wagers for the win
14 cents for wagers for the place

MISS CRUISEY – Slow to begin.

Race 5:  Ken & Gordon Russell Memorial Open Handicap - 1200 metres

MOSCINI – Shifted in under pressure over the concluding 200 metres. Jockey T Banks was reminded of his obligation to keep his mount straight.

MY BEST EFFORT – Steadied for a short distance near the 100 metres when MOSCINI shifted in under pressure.
