SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT (INNISFAIL 17th JUNE 2017)

Jockey S Kaya pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR137(a) in that on Saturday June 17th 2017 at the meeting of the Innisfail Turf Club in Race 5 The Benchmark 60 Handicap, near the 900m he permitted his mount LIL’ RED MONKEY, which was racing in a position approximately one (1) horse away from the running rail to shift out abruptly to a position approximately three (3) horses away from the running rail, and in doing so made heavy contact with DAZZLUNA ridden by App. A Thomson who became severely unbalanced and was almost dislodged. PERFECTLY SWEET ridden by Jockey G Kliese was also inconvenienced. Jockey Kaya’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence at midnight 1st July 2017 up to and including midnight 9th July 2017. In determining penalty Stewards took into account Jockey Kaya’s good recent record in relation to rule, his admission of guilt and the degree of interference which was considered to be in the low to mid range. Jockey Kaya was advised of his right to an Internal Review.

Race 4: STALLAN SECURITY BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1210m:

When questioned into the disappointing performance of the gelding Jockey M Kai stated that after beginning awkwardly MUSTANG JACK had only been able to assume the lead as per his normal racing pattern after working hard in the early stages and as a result had been unable to finish off the race as strongly as expected. Trainer Mr. S Cooper was of the opinion that the gelding may not have backed up after a 7 day turnaround on a firm surface at Laura. Both explanations were noted. A post-race Veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Mr. Cooper undertook to notify Stewards should anything which may have affected the performance of the horse become apparent in the next few days.

App. N Nelson pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR137(a) in that near the 150m she made insufficient effort to prevent LIL’ RED MONKEY from shifting out under riding across the running of COUTAINVILLE (F Edwards) which had to be checked losing its rightful running and BIG TOMEE (J Felix) which was racing to the outside of COUTAINVILLE being hampered as LIL’ RED MONKEY continued to shift out. App. Nelson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of eight (8) days to commence at midnight 8th July 2017 up to and including midnight 16th July 2017. In determining penalty Stewards took into account App. Nelson’s good recent record in relation to the rule, her admission of guilt, her conduct during the inquiry and the degree of interference which was considered to be within the low range. App. Nelson was advised of her right to an Internal Review.
