RACE 1: NHP Electrical Engineering Products Open Handicap - 1450 metres
1st - THE GALLOWS 2nd - BIANCO ROSSA 3rd - TUATARA 4th - SMOOTH GENERAL

When questioned regarding the acceptance and scratching of the gelding, trainer J. Morris explained that it had been his intention to start CHEERS BROWE, however following its disappointing performance at Corfield on Saturday last, as noted in the Stewards Report, the gelding pulled up lame and was exhibiting soreness in its neck. Mr Morris said that when the gelding had not recovered as soon as he anticipated, he elected to scratch CHEERS BROWE from today's event.

SIR JAYSTIN - Late scratching, @ 9.13 a.m., by order of the stewards acting on veterinary advice that the horse was lame in the off foreleg. Trainer C. Hampton was advised that he must provide a veterinary clearance prior to SIR JAYSTIN being permitted to race again.

RACE 2: Dialight LED For Mining Class 6 Plate - 1200 metres
1st - IRON METEORITE 2nd - SHANTUNG BOXER 3rd - DEL PALIO 4th - BEAU DASH

DEL PALIO - Slow to begin.

HOODOO GURU - Bumped at the start.

TOO MANY LIES - Bumped at the start.

MORE DUST - Rounding the first turn, near the 700 metres, shifted in and bumped another runner.

MIMI'S ROCKET - Near the 700 metres bumped by another runner and became unbalanced.

IRON METEORITE - Approaching the 100 metres was inclined to lay out under pressure, shifted out and made contact with another runner.

SHANTUNG BOXER - Contacted by another runner approaching the 100 metres.

RACE 3: Gerards Lighting Class 2 Handicap (+4KG) - 90 metres
1st - CHATEAU D'OR 2nd - ROMANTICIZE 3rd - BOWLED OVER 4th - RIVERS END

SERENE ROCKET - Late scratching, @ 10.32 a.m., by order of the stewards when no rider was available at the allotted weight.

TRANSFUSION - Stewards accepted the explanation tendered by trainer J. Cairns for the late declaration of Jockey A. Badger as the rider of the gelding.

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable stewards to view the official photofinish video. After doing so, stewards amended the judge's placing for 4th placegetter and subsequently declared correct weight.

TRANSFUSION - Began awkwardly and lost ground.

MAHONGA - Blundered at the start.

Approaching the first turn, near the 700 metres, DIURNAL TIGER (T. Hill) was bumped on the hindquarters by BOWLED OVER (K. Ballard), which was carried inwards by WORDS AND PICTURES (App. Q. Krogh), which shifted in when not quite clear. MAHONGA (T. Tincknell), which was following, was hampered as a consequence, clipped heels and blundered. Apprentice Krogh was reprimanded.

DIURNAL TIGER - For some distance rounding the turn near the 500 metres raced in restricted room between runners.

RACE 4: Cablemakers Maiden Handicap (+2.5 KG) - 1200 metres
1st - WILKER 2nd - RIALTO GUY 3rd - ASHLEN 4th - GIRLSGOGIDDYUP

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable the connections of ASHLEN, which finished third, to view the photofinish. After doing so they were satisfied with the judge's placings and correct weight was declared.

RIALTO GUY - Slow to begin.

HERE HE IS - Was slow to begin and then throughout the early and middle stages was reluctant to stretch out due to the kickback.

RACE 5: Cabac QTIS Class 1 Handicap (+0.5KG) - 1200 metres
1st - GOLDEN METEOR 2nd - DOLLARISE 3rd - DUKE'S DELIGHT 4th - GRISWALD

READY TO DAZZLE - Late scratching, @ 7.47 a.m. when no rider was available at the allotted weight.

JETEYE WARRIOR - Slow to begin.

BUENA VIDA - Slow to begin, then passing the 100 metres Jockey M. Morris accidentally dropped his whip.

DUKE'S DELIGHT - Shortly after the start was momentarily tightened for room.

ARTIE'S SON - After being crossed in the early stages then raced ungenerously due to the kickback.

RACE 6: Cabac QTIS Class 1 Handicap (+0.5KG) - 1200 metres
1st - GENERAL WEB 2nd - LARABEE 3rd - AMAZING MOSS 4th - VILLAINOUS LASS

LITTLE VICTORIES - Late scratching, @ 7.47 a.m., when no rider was available at the allotted weight.

HOTILLA - Crowded for room at the start.

PAYOLA - Tightened for room on jumping.

VILLAINOUS LASS - Dipped at the start.

GENERAL WEB - Passing the 100 metres shifted out abruptly, resulting in its rider becoming momentarily unbalanced.

ENCORONADA - When questioned regading the poor performance of the gelding App. Tincknell said that her mount travelled comfortably in a prominent position in the early and middle stages, however commenced to weaken from the 600 metres and in her opinion raced like a tired horse.

RACE 7: Thomas & Betts BenchMark 65 Handicap - 1450 metres
1st - KAYAN 2nd - REVEL IN THE CHAOS 3rd - TRAVEL IN STYLE 4th - MENELAION

GENERAL SON - Slow to begin.

BULLRAMA - Passing the 100 metres had to be steadied when hampered by another runner.

SHIMAZU - Slow to begin.

COMMANDING SPUR - Jockey M. Morris was questioned regarding the gelding's poor performance. He said that his mount travelled comfortably throughout, however passing the 600 metres commenced to weaken. He added that in his opinion the gelding performs better over races of a shorter distance.

RACE 8: Clipsal & Schneider Electric Country Queensland Showcase Open Handicap - 1000 metres
1st - CRAIGLEA CRUZ 2nd - ALBERTIQUE 3rd - TABASCO FORCE 4th - DARCEY

TERRAPLEX - Crowded for room at the start.

TAP IN BIRDIE - Began awkwadly, shifted out abruptly and lost ground.

EXCAPISHE - Slow to begin.

CARRY ME - On returning to scale Jockey I. Fry said that, even after travelling wide throughout his mount was disappointing. He added that in his opinion the gelding will be better suited in races over a greater distance.
