Race 1: Benchmark 65 Handicap 1450 Metres:
1st – MADAME GINOUX 2nd – COURT ACTION 3rd – SMOOTH GENERAL 4th – MOSSALE
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey D Ballard to ride SPLASH OUT 3kg over its declared weight.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to enable Jockey T Chambers the rider of the third placegetter, SMOOTH GENERAL, to view the photo of the finish. Having done so she was satisfied with the judge's placings and correct weight was declared.
ROTHCOTE – Raced in restricted room for a few strides at the 1300 metres.
MANDALONG PASS – Raced wide from the 600 metres.
SMOOTH GENERAL – Raced wide rounding the 1200 metre and 600 metre turns.
MADAME GINOUX - Raced wide rounding the 600 metre turn.
Race 2: Class 2 Handicap 1000 Metres:
1st – FLAMINGO ROSE 2nd – BUENA VIDA 3rd – SUBOSAMI 4th – DEFINITELY BAY
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey T Chambers to ride SERENE ROCKET 4kg over its declared weight.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey S McGovern to ride BUENA VIDA 0.5kg over its declared weight.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey D Ballard to ride DEFINITELY BAY 0.5kg over its declared weight.
SERENE ROCKET – On the start being effected the mare refused to jump and remained in the barriers. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr P Inwood was advised the mare is to successfully complete a barrier trial prior to racing again.
BUENA VIDA – Wide throughout.
DEFINITELY BAY - Jumped inwards onto another runner as the start was effected. A post-race veterinary examination diagnosed the gelding to be lame in the offside front. Trainer Mr C Hampton was advised he is required to provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding again starts in a race.
GOT SWAG - Jumped outwards onto another runner as the start was effected.
NICABELLE - On jumping was contacted by runners to its inside and outside.
SUBOSAMI – Wide throughout.
Race 3: Maiden Plate 1100 Metres:
1st – RIALTO GUY 2nd – CHARLIE CLANG 3rd – HERE HE IS 4th – IMPERFECT
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey T Chambers to ride HERE HE IS 0.5kg over its declared weight.
IMPERFECT – As the gelding was having its first race start in fourteen months Stewards ordered a pre-race veterinary examination. Subsequently the gelding was passed fit to start and took its place in the field. Raced wide rounding the home turn.
HERE HE IS - Contacted by another runner on jumping away.
SHREWD CUSTOMER – Jumped outwards making contact with another runner on jumping.
OUR REET PETITE – Raced wide most of the way.
ALBEZZERA – Upon returning to scale Apprentice G Mitchell reported the mare which was having its first start in the North-West resented the kickback and never travelled comfortably at any stage.
Race 4: Open Handicap 1200 Metres:
1st – ALL FIVES 2nd – FORTZA 3rd – JOHNNYDRAMA 4th – TAP IN BIRDIE
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey D Ballard to ride PISMO BEACH 3.5kg over its declared weight.
When no other rider was available stewards permitted Jockey S McGovern to ride COMMANDING SPUR 1.5kg over its declared weight.
PISMO BEACH – For a considerable distance throughout the middle stages raced tight to the inside of FORTZA.
Jockey T Chambers was reminded of her obligations to allow sufficient racing room for riders to her inside.
COMMANDING SPUR - Raced wide rounding the home turn.
JOHNNYDRAMA – Approaching the 700 metres had to be eased when runners to its outside shifted inward under pressure.
ALL FIVES – Inclined to lay out under pressure rounding the home turn.
Race 5: Benchmark 55 Handicap 1200 Metres:
1st – TOO MANY LIES 2nd – DIURNAL TIGER 3rd – KIEV 4th – ESKERVINTH
GHOST TRAIN - Was a late withdrawal at 12.50pm when no rider was available.
CLEVER ONE - Was a late withdrawal at 12.50pm when no rider was available.
SNAZZY SOX - Was a late withdrawal at 12.50pm when no rider was available.
SHOW US THE WAY – Was a late scratching at 12pm following the gelding becoming cast in its stable and sustaining minor injuries. Trainer Mr R Burrows was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to the gelding being permitted to start in a race.
