When no other suitable rider was available stewards permitted Jockey S McGovern to ride SUBOSAMI 1.5kg over its declared weight.

FLAMINGO ROSE – Blundered at the start.

I’M DESPERATE TOO – Bumped at the start.

RAPID – Shifted in abruptly at the start making contact with another runner. Jockey J Kropp reported the gelding hung out throughout proving difficult to ride. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which trailed throughout found the gelding to have sustained a minor laceration to its right hind cannon consistent with galloping on itself.

REFORMER – Apprentice T Tincknell was reprimanded under AR.137A for striking her mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 1 more than permissible under the rule.

Race 2: Check Your Lumps For Bumps Benchmark 45 Handicap 900 metres:

GRAUMAN – Slow to begin.

ZIPPITY ZOU – Bumped at the start.

SNAZZY SOX – Crowded for room after being bumped at the start. Lost it’s off hind plate in the running.

BLUE DANUBE – Began awkwardly with its head in the air and commenced to race ungenerously for some distance. Upon returning to scale Jockey T Hill reported the mare was reluctant to hold its position when another runner improved around it. Jockey Hill added the mare may benefit from the addition of a tongue tie to its approved gear as he feels the mare may have got her tongue back in the early stages.

Race 3: Join The Fight QTIS Maiden Plate 900 metres:
1st – CHARLIE CLANG 2nd – SIR MANGO 3rd – LACH’S POCKET 4th – COCOA POPS

When no other suitable rider was available stewards permitted Jockey T Chambers to ride ANASTASIA’S GREY 2kg over its declared weight.

ANASTASIA’S GREY which was resuming from a lengthy spell underwent a prerace veterinary examination and was cleared to take its place in the field.

COCOA POPS – Slow to begin.

CHARLIE CLANG – Bumped at the start.

SIR MANGO – Bumped at the start. When questioned regarding his vigorous riding in the early stages Jockey J Esser said he was advised to ride the gelding positively out of the barriers and take up the lead. Trainer Mr J Bawden confirmed these instructions. Stewards advised Mr Bawden future starts would be monitored and the gelding would be expected to race in a similar fashion.

ROCKET JAY DEE – Slow to begin. Trailed the field throughout. Jockey T Hill reported the gelding resented the kickback and was reluctant to stretch out at any stage. Trainer Ms T Parry was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding for being uncompetitive and should the gelding perform similarly it will be required to successfully complete a barrier trial.

Following the running of this race Jockey J Esser became indisposed and was unable to fulfil his remaining engagements. Rider changes were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 4: MIRC Breast Cancer Day Open Plate 1000 metres:
1st – CRAIGLEA CRUZ 2nd – ALBERTIQUE 3rd – CARRY ME 4th – FOREWARNED

MR MEMPHIS – Shifted in abruptly at the start.

MAHONGA – Shifted out abruptly at the start into the path of another runner despite its riders efforts. Upon returning to scale Jockey D Ballard reported the gelding attempted to hang out for the entirety of the event proving extremely difficult to ride resulting in him not being able to ride his mount out with his usual vigour.

CRAIGLEA SWIFT – Had to be restrained shortly after the start when a runner to its inside shifted in abruptly. Approaching the 700 metres commenced to race ungenerously with its head in the air. Apprentice Tincknell reported the filly resented the kickback at this point of the race and she was forced to shift wider on the track to obtain clear running and race without cover from this position. Apprentice Tincknell was fined $100 under AR.137A for striking her mount on 8 occasions prior to the 100 metres, 3 more than permissible under the rule.
