General:
Due to current COVID restrictions Stewards permitted the following weight variations:
Race 1: MANDOLIN WIND – D McGillivray – 55.5kg (+ 0.5kg)
 
As G Steele was not riding at the meeting due to personal reasons, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet.
 
 
Race 1 – Maiden Plate 1000 METRES
 
AVOCA – Raced three-wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
THE EDITORIAL – Laid in when weakening near the 400 metres. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
ZIMBOOMBAH – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
ZAKHEERA – Slow to begin.
 
RED GADGET – Began awkwardly. Rider M Philpot reported in her opinion the filly failed to handle today’s prevailing track conditions.
 
 

 
Race 2 – Benchmark 55 Hdcp 1000 METRES
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing H Richardson, rider of second placegetter TROJAN ANGEL, to view the photo finish image for first. After doing so, correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings.
 
TRIDANCA – As had not started for an extended period of time, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Lost the off hind plate in running.
 
HAVASHOUT – Jumped in at the start bumping heavily with MOMENTUM GLORY. Tightened for room near the 200 metres and had to be steadied.
 
METRO TRAMP – Jumped outwards at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event.  Shifted in near the 200 metres resulting in both HAVASHOUT and PURPOSEFUL MISS being tightened for room. R Faehr, rider of METRO TRAMP, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
 
PURPOSEFUL MISS – Tightened for room near the 200 metres and had to be steadied.
 
TROJAN ANGEL – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider H Richardson reported the brow band on the mare became displaced leaving the 300 metres.
 
RURAL REBEL – Commenced to buck soon after the start, lost significant ground and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer A Park was advised RURAL REBEL must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.
 
ROCKSHORE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Became very awkward in its action after slipping behind near the 500 metres, resulting in rider S Stephan easing the gelding out of the race after becoming concerned with the horse’s action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
MOMENTUM GLORY – Bumped heavily at the start and lost ground.
 
Following the running of this event several riders expressed concern with a section of the track between the 500 metres and the 450 metres. A delegation of senior riders and Stewards inspected the affected area and remedial patching was carried out. Prior to the running of Race 3 Stewards and senior riders again inspected the track which was then deemed safe for racing.
 
 
 

Race 3 – Benchmark 45 Hdcp 1200 METRES
 
DUKATI – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Leaving the 300 metres became awkwardly placed on the heels of the tiring TRUE TALLY, before shifting wider on the track to obtain clear running.
 
TRUE TALLY – Race wide for the majority of the event.
 
NINE CIGARS – Jumped out at the start. Inconvenienced near the 1200 metres when RAPID EAGLE laid out.
 
RAPID EAGLE – Inclined to lay out for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
 
MISS CRUISEY – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Near the 1200 metres obliged to check when RAPID EAGLE laid out despite the efforts of its rider. Raced three-wide for the majority of the event.
 
DAWNSTAR – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 4 - Benchmark 55 Handicap 1400 METRES
 
KIPCHOGE – Placed in restricted room near the 1200 metres when PRUNDA shifted in when not fully clear. A Sewell, rider of PRUNDA, was advised to exercise greater care.
 
MODERN FAMILY – Slow to begin.
 
KAKATIYA – Held up for clear running between the 300 metres and the 200 metres.
 
FLICK – Raced three-wide throughout.
 
RUSSIAN MISSILE – Rider R Faehr reported in his opinion the gelding failed to handle today’s prevailing track conditions.
 
 
 
Race 5 – Open Hdcp 1400 METRES
 
D McGillivray, rider of SILENT FLYER, was found guilty of a charge under AR188(b) in that he attempted to weigh out for this event wearing an approved safety vest that had been modified and was fined $500.
 
DESTINY’S OWN – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide for the majority of the event.
 
AMMOUDI BAY – Slow to begin. Raced three-wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
CRAIGLEA ARION – Hampered leaving the 300 metres when AMMOUDI BAY shifted in under pressure. A Sewell, rider of AMMOUDI BAY, was reprimanded under AR131(a) for carelessness in this incident.
 
MY CERTAIN – Rider D Boutet reported in his opinion the gelding failed to handle today’s prevailing track conditions.
