GENERAL
Due to technical issues, the photo finish did not operate for race 1. Licensees were advised of the issue and extra camera footage and judges were supplied for precautionary measures.
Race 1: RISING SUN HONDA QTIS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000m
TOP DECISION – Broke through the barriers soon after being loaded and completed a lap of the track. Stewards ordered the gelding to be a late scratching at 1.40pm and prior to the declaration of correct weight ordered that all monies wagered on TOP DECISION be refunded in full and further that all successful wagers be subject to deductions of 4 cents in the dollar win and 5 cents in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket.
BELEM GREY - Broke through the barriers soon after being loaded. Was quickly restrained and re-loaded. Performed below market expectations. Jockey S Galvin and trainer Mr. G Wiles were both of the opinion that the gelding may not have completely recovered from previous race start.
HAPPY SHOPPO – Was restless and reared in the barriers prior to the start. Raced wide most of the way.
MISHANI TRADER – Stood flat footed as the start was effected and lost considerable ground. Trainer Mr. J Bawden was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners.
WICKER – Slow into stride.
RUBIDUS – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 2: QUALITY STEEL FABRICATIONS & ENGINEERING P/L BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1200m
CALABAH FLAME – Jockey K Ballard was dislodged harmlessly enroute to the barriers. Lost ground when slowly away.
DUMFRIES – Was slowly away and raced ungenerously throughout. Jockey J Felix advised gelding did not handle track conditions. Trainer Mr. G Wiles agreed with this assessment and advised he is considering the gelding’s racing future.
CRYSTAL BEAR - Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.
BY EMTEEARE - Raced wide rounding the 800m turn
CARRY TO GOLD – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
SPEC OF GOLD - Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 3: COLEMANS STOCK FEED BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200m
SMOOTH ELEMENT - Threw its head in to the air on jumping and raced wide rounding the home turn.
DON’T TELL PETE – Slowly into stride.
BETTER CALL SAUL - Slowly into stride.
ROCK SPARK - Jockey T Brummell advised the gelding was unable to muster early pace and resented the kick back.
HOLEY GADOLEY – Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 4: HASTINGS DEERING BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1400m
MOLONGLE JOY – Slowly into stride.
THE GIRLS IN PARIS - Slowly into stride.
CHOMARU - Jockey P Cullen reported gelding hung out from the 600m to the 250m.
MARINE ON PARADE – Raced very wide rounding the home turn.
GOOD MOOD - Raced wide rounding the home turn.
Race 5: RABOBANK BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP 1400m
NOOGOORA BURR – Raced wide rounding the 800m turn.
