Race 1: SMW Group QTIS 3yo Class 2 H’cap – 1200m

GOHAN –  As there was no senior rider available to ride at the allotted weight, stewards permitted Apprentice H English to replace the indisposed jockey N Seymour. Bumped on jumping away and laid out slightly passing the 400m.

RUBY GEORGIE – Began awkwardly. Passing the 900m commenced to overrace and had to be restrained  from heels. Passing the 400m became awkwardly placed at heels and was obliged to shift out.

WELCOME NUGGET – Bumped on jumping and the had to be steadied when slightly tightened for room passing the 400m when RUBY GEORGIE was taken out by LADYEYE.

WICKED GRIMSHAW – Began awkwardly and raced ungenerously in the early stages.

THE TAX ACCOUNTANT – Held up for clear running from the 400m to the 200m when eased and then had to shift wider on the course to improve.

LADYEYE – Had a tendency to lay in passing the 400m and had to be steadied away from heels and shifted out.

Race 2: Buildabull Class 6 Plate – 1200m

ANNIE’S OUR HERO – Slow to begin.

RISE TO FAME – Overraced in the early stages.

MALKARA – Laid out after passing the 600m. Jockey B. Pengelly was reminded of his obligations regarding the manner in which he used his whip over the final 200m.

Race 3: Caught In The Act Photography – Matt Harris – Class 2 H’cap - 1050m

JABROOK – Began awkwardly and was slightly bumped shortly after jumping.

MAGIC WORD – Laid in over the final 200m, placing its rider at some disadvantage.

DIAMOND ON COMMAND – Obliged to race three wide without cover throughout. Over the final 200m commenced to weaken and proved disappointing. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg.  The horse was treated by the veterinary surgeon for travel back to its stables, and trainer K. Miller was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start.

Race 4: Adam’s Plant Hire Open H’cap – 1500m

FRENCH HUSTLER – As B. Pengelly was to be overweight, he was replaced by D. Simmons.  Jockey Pengelly was reprimanded under AR120(b).  In determining penalty, stewards acknowledged his good record regarding breaches of this rule and extenuating circumstances.
Raced three wide without cover throughout.

DECONSTRUCTED – Jockey D. Evans was reminded of his obligations regarding his use of the whip prior to the 100m.

Race 5: Tony Madden Architects Pty Ltd Benchmark 60 H’cap - 1400m

RUSTY SCOOTER – Reared slightly as the start was effected and lost ground.

ARCTIC CIRCLE – Bumped on jumping.

CHIEF ADVOCATE – Tightened for room between runners on jumping and lost significant ground.

ONEMOR EMOTION – Began awkwardly and shifted in. Then over the concluding stages shifted in and out under pressure, causing its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on a number of occasions.

Race 6: Rejuvenate Wellness Centre Benchmark 55 H’cap – 1200m

Correct weight was delayed to allow apprentice H Phillips to look at the patrol footage to determine if she was afforded a fair start. After doing so Stewards determined that SKY BROOK was fractious and awkwardly away due to its own manners and therefore deemed it to have been afforded an equal opportunity to begin with the rest of the field, deemed it a runner and correct weight was declared.

LIKER – Blundered on jumping.

SKY BROOK – Fractious in the gates prior to start being effected and then began awkwardly.  Shortly after the start commenced to overrace and had to be restrained from heels on several occasions between the 1100m and 600m.

KWANZA – Slow into stride.

ZATORIO – Raced three wide without cover throughout.

NASTY GAL – Hung out under pressure over the final 150m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Trainer A Suli was advised that the mare would be barred from racing for a period of three months and only able to resume racing after completing a 1000m gallop in the presence of Stewards.

DUDOOMP – When questioned regarding the perceived form improvement of the mare, trainer K Miller stated that the mare was to be ridden forward as had been the instructions at its previous starts. However at its most recent start she travelled further back than anticipated and was first up from a short let up. Mr Miller added that being slightly fitter and being able to race in her favourable position, which is forward but not necessarily leading and travelling comfortable in that position may have assisted in a better performance today. Mr Miller further added that the mare does improve getting into her campaign and has performed well in her second up runs previously and he expected a similar showing at her next start. Stewards accepted the explanation.
