Rockhampton 1.8.19
 
Race 3. DOOGUS – Scope results performed as directed after running in race 3 on Thursday 1st August confirmed that the gelding suffered a bleeding attack and therefore Stewards have placed an which embargo on the horse under the provisions of AR79(4)(b). The gelding will incur a three month suspension from racing and must pass in a 1000m gallop in presence of Stewards prior to racing or trialling again.
 
 
Race 1: CHRIS WARREN HOMES CLASS 4 PLATE – 1600M
 
RUSTY SCOOTER – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position with cover near the 800m.
 
CHANAMARO – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
 
 
Race 2: THE UNIFORM CENTRE CLASS 6 PLATE 1300m
 
ZUKAZ – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped DURIF.
 
DURIF –  Jockey R. Wiggins was fined $200 for excessive use of the whip prior to the 100m.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: CONDON FINANCIAL QTIS 3YOLD HCP 1050m
 
THE STOCKBROKER – Change of tactics.  Connections advised the intention would be to settle further back in the field.  The horse was ridden accordingly.  Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey J. Stanley, placed 2nd by the Judge, to view the film of the race to determine whether he had grounds to lodge an objection against HEZHOME ((M. McGillivray) being declared the winner. After viewing the films jockey Stanley declined to proceed. Near the 200m was inconvenienced by HEZHOME and then further inconvenienced over the concluding stages by HEZHOME, which was racing greenly.
 
LITTLE SID – Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 4: CQ MECHANICAL SOLUTIONS B’MARK 69 HCP 1050m
 
 
FRUGAL – The start of this race was delayed after the horse broke through the barriers and travelled a short distance before being restrained by its rider. Returned to the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start. Rider R. Wiggins was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the end of the race.
 
TAPA – Rider S. Lacy reported after being tightened for room shortly after the start she was obliged to settle further back in the field than anticipated.
 
EXTREME WITNESS – Slow to begin. Lost its off fore plate in running.
 
Following this event the track rating was upgraded to Good (3).
 
 
Race 5: REES R & SYDNEY JONES SOLICITORS CLASS 2 HCP 1400m
 
SYNONYMS – Rider C. Eaton reported to stewards that after being caught wide in the early stages she attempted to restrain to obtain a position with cover, however the gelding proved reluctant to settle when being restrained and as a result raced 3 wide without cover for the majority of the race.
 
PRODUCE ME LATE – Slow to begin. Steadied near the 200m when disappointed for a run and was then obliged to shift out abruptly in an attempt to obtain clear running.
 
FINUCANE MISSILE – Began awkwardly. Held up in the early stages of the home straight. Steadied near the 200m when awkwardly placed at the heels of PAUA, which shifted out. Jockey R. Wiggins, rider of PAUA was issued with a reprimand for this incident.
 
 
Race 6: XXXX GOLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1300m
 
WICKED PEARL – Shifted in abruptly at the start despite the efforts of its rider.  Rider N. Thomas reported his mount failed to travel comfortably throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
NO SHENANIGANS – Checked at the start when tightened for room. A short distance after the start attempted to buck and lost ground, and as a result shifted out racing wide for the remainder. Trainer A. Albert was advised that the gelding would require a further barrier certificate prior to racing again.
 
PRINCE NUTCRACKER – Slow to begin.
 
ANNMARIE – Checked at the start when tightened for room.
 
MONASHEE JACK – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running near the 400m.
 
REAGAN’S MISTAKE – Near the 300m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TAVEUNI, which shifted out when not fully clear.  Jockey T. Brooker, rider of TAVEUNI, was issued with a severe reprimand and advised to give greater clearance when shifting ground in future.
 
TAVEUNI – Held up momentarily in the early stages of the home straight.
 
ILCALLYA – Raced 4 wide without cover throughout the event.
 
HEZAGIGOLO – Raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.
 
 
 
Race 7: 2019 LEXUS MELB CUP TOUR LUNCH CLASS 1 HCP 1050m
 
CHEECKY MILA – Trainer R. Vale was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for the horse by the prescribed time.
 
REAL MACHINE – Jockey C McIver replaced jockey R. Wiggins as the rider. Stewards accepted the explanation for the change of rider. Slow to begin, and then failed to muster any early speed despite the efforts of its rider and as a result trailed the field throughout. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
CIRCUIT JUDGE – Began awkwardly.  
 
WHOOSH – Severely checked near the 900m, clipping heels and blundered, and as a result raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the event.
 
SANTISIMO – Checked near the 900m when severely hampered and forced in abruptly.
 
TOKAREV – Bumped heavily on the hind quarters and became unbalanced near the 900m.
 
SWEET – Laid in under pressure for the majority of the home straight, and made contact with the rail near the 200m.
 
SPIRIT’S SILK – Disappointed for a run near the 300m and was obliged to alter course.
 
FAY ELEMENT – Severely tightened for room and had to be checked near the 900m.
 
OTTO’S BROTHER – Bumped heavily when tightened for room near the 900m.
 
CHEEKY MILA – Apprentice T. Doyle pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of SERPENTI, which was forced in when severely tightened for room making heavy contact with WHOOSH, which after being checked clipped heels and blundered, making heavy contact with OTTO’S BROTHER, which was forced in and made contact with FAY ELEMENT.  SANTISIMO, which was following, had to be checked to avoid heels.  Apprentice T. Doyle’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 16 days, to commence at midnight, 15 August, and to expire at midnight, 31 August.  In determining penalty, stewards considered the carelessness in the high range and also the degree of interference to multiple runners to be in the high range.
