SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Rockhampton 7/4/2020

Trainer T Simmons reported that Captain Tom had pulled up well on returning to the stables following the event and the intention now was to press on with its campaign and nominate for the Mackay meeting on the 28th.

Race 1: FINAL COUNTDOWN 2020 CYS 7PM TUESDAY 14 APRIL MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M

JARS – Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer D. Micallef was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding.

MACKENZIE COUNTRY – When questioned regarding the performance, jockey M. Haley stated that after beginning well his mount was able to take up a leading position, but when asked for an effort in the vicinity of the 600m the gelding failed to respond to his riding and went to the line in a disappointing manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to a future race start.

OR ELSE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

HARD CURRENCY – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung in under pressure in the straight. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s record for hanging in.

SHAKA DIAMOND – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

GOOD AS A ROCKET – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

Race 2: WWW.BLOODSTOCKAUCTION.COM MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

TRUMP ME – Blundered on jumping away and as a result was slow into stride. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

POP’S DREAM – Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin.

BALNAGAL – Raced wide throughout.

PRINCESS CARTIER – Hung out under pressure in the straight. Trainer L. Clem was advised a warning would be placed on the record of PRINCESS CARTIER.

TWISTED SUCCESS – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.

WAUSIWI – Reared as the start was effected, dislodged its rider in the gates and took no part in the race. Trainer Mr T. Cook was advised that prior to a future race start WAUSIWI would be required to gain a barrier certificate and the results of a veterinary clearance must be furnished to stewards. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slight laceration to the filly’s nearside nostril.

Following the event jockey B. Richardson was examined by Queensland Ambulance officers and passed fit to fulfil her remaining engagements.

Race 3: 2020CYS ONLINE SALE @WWW.BLOODSTOCKAUCTION.COM MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M

FREEDOM ROCK – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

AZIOC – Slow to begin.

CHLOE KINKY TOES – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

WREN PLUCKED – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

BLUE INSTINCT – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

MISS DAISY – As T. Chambers was unable to make weight, she was replaced by B. Richardson. T Chambers was reprimanded under AR190(3).

Race 4: XXXX BENCHMARK 65 H'CAP – 1600M

CAPTAINS WAY – Raced wide throughout.

STATIC LIFT – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

DON’T DOUBT LARA – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 400m when tightened for room by SIR VAN DYKE, which was carried out by WINSOMEMORE, which was carried out by STATIC LIFT, and by HADRIAN, which shifted in marginally.

HADRIAN – Hampered on jumping away.

LUNAR SPIN – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

SIR VAN DYKE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

MISS STAR – Overraced in the early and middle stages Raced wide throughout.

CRAIGLEA SIMMO – Slow to begin.

Race 5: HYGAIN / MITAVITE CLASS 3 PLATE – 1300M

EPHESIAN – Slow to begin. Raced in restricted room for a number of strides in the vicinity of the 1000m.

ONLY WANNA SING – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

MYSTERY ELEMENT – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 1200m after improving on to the heels of DANCING TYCOON, which was racing ungenerously.

DANCING TYCOON – Raced ungenerously in the early stages after being crossed by ONLY WANNA SING. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr M. Bannon was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of DANCING TYCOON in relation to its racing manners.

LUCKY BEE – Slow to begin.

Race 6: FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK OPEN H'CAP – 1200M

SWORD OF JUSTICE – Contacted on jumping away. Had to shift out around the heels of FAB’S COWBOY in the vicinity of the 400m to obtain clear running.

FAB’S COWBOY – Jumped away awkwardly.

MONEY AD – Raced wide in the early stages.

MASON’S CHANCE – Overraced in the early stages.

SENSATION ALLY – When questioned regarding the horse’s performance, trainer Mr J. Manzelmann stated that SENSATION ALLY is better suited racing over further distance and it was his intention to step the mare up at its next start. Stewards accepted Mr Manzelmann’s explanation, however advised him that the mare’s form will be monitored over its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

STONE WARRIOR – Slow to begin.

ELLE A WALKING – Slow to begin.

Race 7: RUM CITY FOODS RATINGS BAND 0 – 58 H'CAP – 1100M

KAHUNA – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung in under pressure in the home straight. Trainer N. Seymour was advised a warning would be placed on the record of KAHUNA in relation to hanging in.

GREAT FOX – Obliged to shift out to improve into clear running in the vicinity of the 200m.

GRACIOUS GARCON – After being disappointed for a run between STARS DON’T RUST and MINI MOUNTAIN in the vicinity of the 300m, shifted out around the heels of STARS DON’T RUST and improved into clear running.

KATIE’S GIRL – Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and missed the start by 8 lengths. Trainer T. Simmons was advised that prior to a future race start KATIE’S GIRL must jump satisfactorily in an official jump-out and a veterinary clearance must be produced. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

STARS DON’T RUST – Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Race 8: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE 2020 CLASS 6 PLATE – 1100M

Correct weight was delayed to allow trainer Mr J. Wehlow and apprentice E. Bell to view the patrol footage of the start. After viewing the videos it was ascertained that as the start was effected the barrier of DAM WONDERFUL failed to open with the barriers of the remainder of the field, placing the mare at a disadvantage, resulting in it taking no competitive part in the race. Stewards agreed that DAM WONDERFUL was denied a fair start and as a result the mare was declared a non-runner. Prior to the announcement of correct weight stewards ordered that all monies invested on DAM WONDERFUL be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers:

9 cents in the dollar for the win #3
11 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
12 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #4
8 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #11

DISTRICT – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

LEVEL EIGHT – The gelding’s gates were momentarily slow to begin. After reviewing the patrol footage, stewards were of the opinion that this had not materially affected the horse’s chances.

UMBERTO – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Stood flat-footed as the start was effected and was slow to begin. Rider B. Richardson reported that her mount failed to stretch out in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. When questioned, trainer Mr T. Cook stated that UMBERTO had pleased in its work leading up to today’s event and it was his intention to continue with its preparation. Stewards advised Mr Cook that due to the disappointing performance, UMBERTO would require a veterinary clearance prior to a future race start.

DAM WONDERFUL – Fractious in the barriers.

BEST GUESS – Overraced in the early stages.

WALK THE TALK – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

ALONEINABAA – As no rider was available, T. Chambers was permitted to ride the gelding 1kg over its allotted weight. Had to be steadied after improving on to heels in the vicinity of the 900m.

NADEEM ESPRIT – The gates were slightly slow to open. After reviewing the patrol footage, stewards were of the opinion that this had not materially affected the horse’s chances.

Following this event barrier staff tested the barriers and advised that they were suitable for use.

Race 9: WWW.CALLAGHANPARK.COM QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 1050M

LIEUTENANT – Reared on jumping away. Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced wide throughout.

KODAI – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer J. Manzelmann was advised that KODAI will require a veterinary clearance prior to a future race start.

RED SATIN – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Raced wide throughout.

RURAL REBEL – Hampered on jumping away. Apprentice D. Graham pleaded guilty to a charge of excessive use of the whip under AR132(7)(a)(ii), in that she used the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, and was fined the sum of $200.

DJEBEL READY – Hampered on jumping away.

HARRY ROCKET – Had to be steadied in the vicinity of the 900m to avoid the heels of BOSS BABY, which shifted in when insufficiently clear. Jockey C. McIver, the rider of BOSS BABY, was reprimanded and advised to be clear when shifting ground in future.

DUTCH ROCKET – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.

RAY’S JUNCTION – Hampered on jumping away. In the vicinity of the 1000m was momentarily inconvenienced by KODAI, which laid in momentarily.

LEGAL ASSET – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

TALES OF EPSILON – Disappointed for a run in the vicinity of the 400m and was obliged to shift out to improve into clear running.
