GENERAL
As Jockey B Appo was unable to fulfil his engagement in race 1 due to transport difficulties, stewards permitted Jockey A Sewell to replace B Appo as per the stewards summary.

Race 1: XXXX GOLD QTIS Two-Year-Old Class 2 Handicap 1050 metres

WHISPERING MOSS - Slow to begin. Failed to muster early gate speed.

TAHLIA GOLD - Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

CODY ALTEM – Hung in throughout the event. Trainer F Smith was advised a warning would be placed on the record of gelding.

Race 2: BECOME A CLUB 150 MEMBER 2021 QTIS Three-Year-Old Class 2 Handicap 1300 metres

KOTABHARU – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

SONEYMAR STAR – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Raced green when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider W D’Avila was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100m, three more than permitted. Trainer D Johnstone was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the gelding in relation to being difficult to load.

BOLD AND LUCY – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

Race 3: CALLAGHAN PARK FUNCTIONS AND EVENTS CENTRE BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1200 metres

MISTA BUSY – Jumped away awkwardly.

BRIGHTON TOFF – Jumped away awkwardly. Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight proving difficult to ride. Trainer D Gardiner was advised a warning would be placed on the record of the mare. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

FIGHTING FAITH – Hampered on jumping away.

Race 4: ARCADE CAR PARK MARKETS AT CALLAGHAN PARK - EVERY SUNDAY QTIS Three-Ye 1200 metres

MANIFICA – Race wide throughout the event.

ROCK READY – Race wide throughout the event. Lost its near hind plate in running.

LYNN'S LANE – Trainer A Coome was advised that LYNN’S LANE would be required to gain a further barrier certificate after proving difficult to load.

BETTER CHILL'EM – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

GRACIOUS JAZZ – Slow to begin.

LADY LOWBURN – Slow to begin.

MATAGORDA – Slow to begin.

Race 5: TAB Maiden Handicap 1100 metres

FAST SONG – Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. Rider A Butler was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.

TASHANKA - Trainer W Weeks was advised that TASHANKA would be required to gain a further barrier certificate after proving difficult to load. Trainer W Weeks advised stewards that TASHANKA would now be retired.

CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN – Trainer Z Hohn plead guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR165(1) for the late arrival of the mare on course and was fined $400. CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN underwent a pre race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. CHAMPAGNE AT DAWN was also pre race tested.

MOTHERLODE – Overraced in the early and middle stages.

CALL ME BEL – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Race 6: CAPRICORNIA YEARLING SALE 2021 OPEN Handicap 1050 metres


TAKINGS – Under went a pre race veterinary examination after not competing in the past 12 months and was passed fit to start.

TOY BOY – lost its off fore plate in running.

HELLUVA HOFFA – Slow into stride and attempted to buck shortly after. Trainer P Burke was advised that the gelding would be required to trial prior to a future race start.

Race 7: RJC MEMBERSHIPS ONLINE AT ROCKHAMPTON TICKETS Class 3 Handicap 1050 metres

INTIMIDATING – Hampered on jumping away.

BANTU BAY – Underwent a pre race veterinary examination after contacting the rail en route to the barriers and was passed fit to start.

DOUBLE EM – Shortly after jumping away was momentarily inconvenienced by BANTU BAY which shifted in at an acute angle. Jockey N Day, rider of BANTU BAY was advised to ensure he is clear when shifting ground in future.

LINGALONGA LASS – Hampered on jumping away. Approaching the 600m was momentarily inconvenienced after improving to the inside of MISS NASTY, which laid out rounding the home turn. Rider W D’Avila was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.

MISS NASTY – Hampered on jumping away.

Race 8: FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK - ROCKHAMPTON JOCKEY CLUB Class 6 Handicap 1300 metres

UMBERTO – slow to begin.

CHINCHINBILLA – Rider D Graham was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted.

FANX – Bound on jumping away. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer K Smyth stated that he would now freshen up the gelding.

TOWER ROAD (NZ) – when questioned in relation to TOWER ROAD racing in a more prominent position today, Jockey N Day stated that he was instructed to be positive out of the gates. Trainer P O’Toole will be questioned in relation to his instructions provided. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

KINGS COUNTY – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 9: CLUB 150 PAYMENT PLANS AVAILABLE NOW BENCHMARK 55 Handicap 1600 metres

TAVI MCBRIDE (NZ) – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

CONQUERING JUDAS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running on entering the home straight and raced in restricted room passing the 200m.

CENTAUR – Rider W D’Avilia was suspended under AR132(5) for using his whip on seventeen occasions throughout the event, three more than permitted. His license was suspended for a period of eight days to commence midnight 6th January 2021 to conclude midnight 14th January 2021.

POETIC PETE – When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey M Murphy could offer no explanation for the disappointing performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
