Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by L Tilley, rider of 2nd placegetter, LAURIE, against ACCELERANT being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 220m. After considering all the evidence Stewards found that approaching the 220m LAURIE was disappointed for a run to the inside of ACCELERANT and was obliged to shift out to improve. Inside the final 100m ACCELERANT shifted out momentarily inconveniencing LAURIE. Bearing in mind the minimal contact between both runners and the proximity to the winning post, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had such incident not occurred LAURIE would have finished in advance of ACCELERANT and, therefore, the protest was dismissed.
