SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
 
From Mackay 29 May 2021 - Race 5
Stewards concluded an inquiry into the circumstances which lead to TUNERO blundering approaching the 1400m. After viewing replays of the incident, it was established ELECTRIFIED which was racing to the inside of TUNERO put in an awkward stride and shifted outwards onto TUNERO causing that runner to blunder. At the same stage BEST HOFFA which was improving three wide hung inwards however this had no bearing on the incident. The Stewards were satisfied no rider was at fault and no further action was warranted.
 
 
Race 1: QTIS Two-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
CRAIG AND HOFF – Hung in throughout the event.
 
I'M STROLLING – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Passing the 1000m had to be restrained after improving on the heels of ASK ME AGAIN. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
CRAIGLEA BANDIT – Slow to begin. Passing the 300m shifted in contacting the running rail.
 
Race 2: Maiden Handicap (Scaled + 3kg) 1400 metres
 
STORMWATER – When questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding, Jockey A Butler advised that his mount failed to travel throughout the event and in his opinion may have not appreciated racing on the soft going. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
GOLD CHORUS – Slow to begin.
 
REFUTATION – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOUNT DUMARESQ – Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m when awkwardly placed on the heels of REFUTATION.
 
THORBEN – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
Race 3: QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap - (Scaled + 1KG) 1100 metres
 
SURFIE BOY – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 450m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed nasal discharge.
 
STRATHBOGIE LAND – Slow to begin.  Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
IRRUPT – Slow to begin.
 
MANIFICA – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 450m.
 
EXALTED – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
PODDY'S GRACE – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BEGS BELIEF – Overraced in the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off side nostril.
 
FAIRYBOWER FLYER – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout the event. Momentarily inconvenienced passing the 300m when racing in restricted room between IRRURPT which laid in and FINAL CRIME which laid out.
 
FINAL CRIME – Laid out when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
Race 4: OPEN Handicap - Base Rating 74.5 (Scaled - 1kg) 1200 metres
 
REVENIRE – Had difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 300m and had to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
Race 5: BENCHMARK 65 Handicap - Base Rating 55 1837 metres
 
SAYL (GB) – Rider reported that the gelding failed to carry the 62kg. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
CRAIGLEA ARION – Jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin. Rider reported that she struck her knee on jumping away.
 
COACH – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
TEZOFF – Rider A. Sewell was fined $600 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration that this was Jockey Sewell’s tenth offence under this rule since August 2020.
 
RIGHT BOWER – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Rider reported that his mount hung out throughout the event.
 
Following the running of Race 5, Jockey H Richardson was examined by Queensland Ambulance Officers and was cleared of injury.
 
Race 6: Class 2 Handicap - Base Rating 51 1050 metres
 
BOLD HUNTER – Raced wide throughout the event. Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
STARSONIC – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
THE LAST DRAGON – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Held up for clear running passing the 300m and had to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
PERSAGA – Rider M. McGillivray was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration that this was Jockey McGillivray’s fourth offence under this rule since August 2020.
 
ALL NATIVE – Jumped away awkwardly. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight.
 
MISS READY NOW – raced in restricted room on entering the home straight.
 
TINDER – Hampered on jumping away.
 
CASSAVANCE – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
Race 7: BENCHMARK 70 Handicap - Base Rating 60 1400 metres
 
OCTAVIAN – Momentarily held up for clear running passing the 300m and had to shift out to improve.
 
PLANET WARRIOR – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
ASK NINO – Slow to begin. When questioned in relation to the performance of the gelding, Jockey M. McGillivray reported that ASK NINO failed to travel at any stage and was a beaten horse passing the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 8: QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap - Base Rating 54 1400 metres
 
NATURAL EMPEROR – Hampered on jumping away. Had difficulty obtaining clear running on passing the 400m and had to shift out to improve into clear running.
 
DR NEIGH – Jumped away awkwardly.
 
BOLD PEDRO - Rider M. McGillivray was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. When determining penalty, stewards took into consideration that this was Jockey McGillivray’s fifth offence under this rule since August 2020.
 
SHE'S IMPERIAL – Jumped away awkwardly. Overraced in the early and middle stages.
 
SHARINDI – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
