Race 1: TAB QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
BONAUGURA – Began awkwardly.
 
TEQUILA DANCER – Began awkwardly bumping with MENARI MAGIC. Jokey Jasmine Cornish pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 131(a) for careless riding, in that at approximately the 900m she shifted inwards to obtain the lead when insufficiently clear of BRIGHT AND READY resulting in that runner being tightened and checked. The license to ride in races of Ms Cornish was suspended for 8 days to commence midnight 5th of June 2022  and conclude midnight 13th June 2022.
 
MENARI MAGIC – Bumped on jumping. Jockey Madeleine Wishart was fined $200 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to her mount on 9 occasions (4 more than permissible) prior to the 100-metre mark.
 
BRIGHT AND READY – Over raced during early and middle stages. Tightened and checked near 900m.
 
HEROIC ANGEL – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
MARSHY – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Jockey N Thomas dropped his whip near the 50m. Jockey N Thomas reported his mount travelled well during the initial stages but proved to be disappointing. He further reported he feels the filly will be much better suited in races over a longer distance. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
 
Race 2: GIRLS GRAMMAR ROCKHAMPTON RACEDAY 18 JUNE Maiden
Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start was initially delayed when DRAGON CLAWS reared over when leaving the mounting yard dislodging its rider. DRAGON CLAWS was subsequently passed fit to start by the on course veterinarian. Jockey R. Wiggins was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance Service and was passed fit to fulfill the remainder of his engagements.
 
The start was further delayed when BOZO BOB proved difficult to load.
 
BOZO BOB – Jumped outwards bumping CRAIGLEA CLIO, which in turn bumped RIVERSIDE SPECIAL. Commenced to weaken from the 600m taking no further competitive part in the event. Upon returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils. Trainer C. Dore was advised the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of three months and must complete a satisfactory 1000m gallop in front of stewards prior to returning to racing or participating in a trial. A further post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained an injury to the off-foreleg. Trainer C. Dore was further advised that the horse would require a veterinary clearance as well as trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to returning to racing.
 
RIVERSIDE SPECIAL – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
VILA TINTO – Over raced and improved onto heels near 600m and had to be steadied.
 
DRAGON CLAWS – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
BLOW THE WHISTLE – Slow into stride.
 
MOONSCAPE – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
CRAIGLEA CLIO – Bumped after the start.
 
 
Race 3: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1200 metres
 
AHOOSHU – When questioned the connections attributed the improved performance to a significant drop in class and the suitable track conditions of today’s event. Trainer also advised that the gelding was galloped on during its last run.
 
SERGEANT HULKA – Raced 3 wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight before weakening from the 400m. Jockey R Wiggins reported the gelding failed to run on as expected despite racing wide.
 
GOLDEN ATHENA – Jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.
 
TYCOON FURY – Over raced in the early stages.
 
BOOM TIME BABY – Slow to begin.
 
LYNRIC LASS – Delayed the start proving difficult to load. Warning issued.
 
 
Race 4: WINTER RACING CARNIVAL 2022 BENCHMARK 60 Handicap
1600 metres
 
THE MINIVAN – Slow to begin.
 
MARTO – Over raced early.
 
ANGOLA MISS – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
BURGUNDY RULES – Raced 3 wide early. Laid in under pressure in the early part of the home straight.
 
TRICKY BEANS – Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount hung out over the final 300m.
 
AUSSIE TYCOON – Slow to begin. Jockey Alex Patis reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to 100m (1 more occasion than permissible)
 
 
Race 5: NEWMARKET RACEDAY FRIDAY 8 JULY Class 6 Plate
1400 metres
 
TEZOFF – Passing the 400m had to shift wider to obtain a clear run. Rider Adam Sewell reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100-metre mark (1 more occasion than is permissible).
 
COLD HARD FACT – Over raced in the early stages.
 
BENGAL BANDIT – Raced 3 wide during the early stages
 
SRINI – Slow to begin. Held up for a clear running at the 450m.
 
MISS SILKY – Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
SIZZLEPEL – Over-raced during early stages. Brushed the running rail near the 600m.
 
 
Race 6: ROCKHAMPTON CUP SATURDAY 9 JULY Class 3 Handicap
1100 metres
 
TIME FOR VICTORY – Began awkwardly losing ground.
 
BLUE JACKET – Jockey Brad Pengelly advised that as the gelding was returning from a spell it was not suited to track conditions of todays event. He further advised that in his opinion the horse would likely derive a fitness benefit from todays race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off-hind leg.
 
BLUINDI – Bumped on jumping. Jockey Justin Stanley explained that after being bumped at the start the gelding settled further back than anticipated. Jockey Stanley dropped his whip at the 300m.
 
SANTORINI SUMMER – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
HILFLAGER – Raced 3 wide throughout with cover. Jockey Ryan Wiggins was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100-metre mark (2 more occasions than permissible).
 
NEW YORK WORLD – Raced 3 wide throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
LEARNING CURVE – Began awkwardly.
 
ALEYSA'S QUEEN – Slow to begin and shifted outwards contacting BLUINDI.
 
NUKE – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 7: TATTERSALLS CUP SUNDAY 26 JUNE OPEN Handicap 1050 metres
 
ONLY WANNA SING – Jockey Jake Molloy was fined $200 under AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100-metre mark (1 more than permissible).

THE EGYPTIAN – Jumped awkwardly and then shifted out contacting COACH. Rounding the home turn was restrained to avoid the heels of EMILEE’S EMPIRE.
 
PIRACY – Began awkwardly and then shifted outwards contacting EMILEE’S EMPIRE. Raced wide throughout.
 
MORT DOYLE – Slow to begin and shifted outwards contacting PLENTY. Shifted wider to obtain clear running at the 300m.
 
PRINCESS RULES – Raced wide throughout.
 
FAIR FELLA – Slow to begin and was tightened soon after the start.
 
PLENTY –  Jumped awkwardly and was bumped soon after the start. Laid outwards rounding the home turn. Shifted inwards at the 200m to avoid the heels of HAMILTON HILL which hung out under pressure.
 
EMILEE'S EMPIRE – Bumped soon after the start. Jockey Nathan Day reported the mare hung out throughout and he felt something was amiss. Post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
HAMILTON HILL – Began awkwardly. Laid outwards under pressure over the final 300m.
 
COACH – Bumped soon after the start by THE EGYPTIAN. Had to be restrained at approximately the 800m to avoid the heels of THE EGYPTIAN which laid in at that stage.
 
 
Race 8: LIKE US ON FACEBOOK Class 1 Handicap 1300 metres
 
CALCAREOUS – Stood flat footed at the start losing significant ground. The trainer was advised a warning would be placed on the runner.
 
NICCYAS – Over raced during the early stages.
 
SIR BULLEE – Bumped and carried wider near the 1000m.
 
YUBETIDO – Raced 3 wide early. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
MOUNT DUMARESQ – Fractious prior to the start.
 
BETTER ASK ROY – Slow to begin.
 
PRINCESS SALLY – Hung in under pressure over the final 400m.
 
STELLAR WAY – Lost its off fore plate during the run.
 
RIVER DAISY – Over raced early and shifted out near the 1000m carrying SIR BULLEE wider. Jockey Alex Patis reported that connections instructed her to ride more forward today and consequently RIVER DAISY over raced for some distance.
