GENERAL

At the request of SKY Channel, the following race times were amended; Race 1 - 1.40pm, Race 2 – 2.15pm, Race 3 – 2.55pm, Race 4 – 3.35pm, Race 5 – 4.10pm & Race 6 – 4.50pm.
Permitted overweight as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Due to the limited number of riders available, Stewards refrained from taking action against trainers who failed to have their rider declared by the prescribed time.

Race 1: A DAYS GRAZE CATERING Maiden Handicap 1100 metres


BOLD RUMBLE – Slipped behind on jumping. Jockey Ryan Wiggins reported that the gelding hung outwards throughout, and, in his view, something may be amiss with BOLD RUMBLE. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities.

TYCOON TORI – Bumped at the start with VANA STAR.

VANA STAR – Shifted in soon after the start bumping with TYCOON TORI which in turn shifted inwards bumping CADDY.

MEDIA HYPE – Slow to be begin. Laid in under pressure.

TURF EDITION – Bumped at the start.

CADDY – Jockey Natalie Summers was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying her whip on 8 occasions (3 more than permitted) prior to the 100m.

IT'S A PEARLER – Jumped in at the start contacting TURF EDITION.


Race 2: GREAT NORTHERN QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1300 metres

The start of this race was delayed slightly due to ROUGE ENCOUNTER being loaded into the incorrect barrier, before being backed out and reloaded.

HEROIC KNIGHT – Shifted out over the final 150m to maintain clear running.

SUMMER SIZZLING – Over raced during the early and middle stages.

IKIGAI STAR – Began awkwardly bumping with DOVI’S DAY. Raced ungenerously near the 150m and hung in bumping the running rail. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. A warning has now been placed against the horses’ racing manners. Connections advised that they are likely to spell the gelding.

ROGUE ENCOUNTER – Jumped awkwardly at the start. Raced 3 wide without cover.

DOVI'S DAY – Bumped at the start by IKIGAI STAR. Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.

MISHANI JEWEL – Hung in under pressure.

DOUBLE PROOF – Jumped awkwardly and then checked off the heels of HEROIC KNIGHT. Jockey Tasha Chambers was fined $300 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying her whip on 8 occasions (3 more than permitted) prior to the 100m.


Race 3: TAB BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1600 metres

BAYERISCHE – Raced 3 wide early. Laid in under pressure and brushed with KELLERS SHELTER inside the final 100m.

MATADOR – Reared at the start and lost considerable ground. Connections were advised a warning has been placed on the geldings’ starting manners.

KELLERS SHELTER – Brushed with BAYERISCHE inside the final 100m.

MARTO – Jumped in the air at the start and was slow to begin.


Race 4: DYNAMIC ELECTRICAL AND REFRIGERATION Class 4 Handicap 1200 metres


CAPTAIN FOX – Fractious to load and delayed the start. Was loaded riderless and a warning has been placed against the gelding’s barrier manners.

BIGGER THAN THORN – Began awkwardly and raced 3 wide with cover throughout. Jockey Tasha Chambers was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to her mount on 7 occasions (2 more than permitted) prior to the 100m.

ASTRAL ODYSSEY – Began awkwardly and raced 3 wide without cover throughout.

Race 5: SEVEN NETWORK OPERATIONS QLD PTY LTD Class 1 Handicap 1100 metres

The start was delayed slightly due to JAMESATELLI having to be re-saddled behind the barriers.

PETER THE PIPER – Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early part of the home straight.

JAMESATELLI – Had to be re-saddled behind the barriers. Jumped awkwardly. Raced 3 wide throughout.

JUST SUPER – Raced 3 wide with cover throughout.

TOP CEEDEE – Jumped in the air at the start. Hung in under pressure over the concluding stages.

MERIDA'S BOW – Began awkwardly. Hung in under pressure in the run to the finish. Jockey Jason Taylor was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying his whip on 6 occasions (1 more than permitted) prior to the 100m.

GYPSY ROZAY – Jockey Nathan Day was fined $200 under AR211(1) for returning to scale more than half a kilogram over the weight he weighed out at.


Race 6: CAULFIELD TICKETS SELLING FAST ENQUIRE TODAY BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1400 metres

The start was delayed considerably when VELARO reared and become caught up in the barrier structure.

Betting deductions for the late scratching of VELARO and KNIGHT’S SWORD were combined and declared as follows; Bets on the winner were to be paid less 27cents and 42cents the place, bets on second place were to be paid less 15cents and bets on third were to be paid less 20cents in the face value of the ticket. All bets placed on VELARO and KNIGHT’S SWORD were ordered to be refunded in full.

SERGEANT HULKA – Began awkwardly. Shifted in abruptly close to the finish when under hard riding.

VELARO – Declared at late scratching on veterinary advice @ 4.52pm after rearing and becoming caught by its off foreleg in the barrier structure. A veterinary examination revealed lameness to the off foreleg and as such the gelding has been stood down from racing until receipt of a veterinary clearance.

KNIGHT'S SWORD – Declared a late scratching at 4.52pm on veterinary advice after being struck in the head by VELARO, when that runner reared in the barriers. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to have suffered minor injuries and no stand down period was ordered.

THE CROWN – Raced keenly during the early and middle stages.

HYPERION STAR (NZ) – Began awkwardly then raced keenly during the early and middle stages.
