SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
Race 1: STAPLETON CARPENTRY/ INKY&MOSS CLASS 2 HANDICAP 900M
CHRISTIES JOY hung out over the final stages of the race.
EXCLUSIVE KITTY was slow to begin.
MCQUEEN jumped out and made contact with another runner.
NOVARUPTA travelled wide throughout.
ROSA MARGUERITA was bumped by another runner and lost some ground. The Mare hung out between the 400m and the 200m point of the event.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey Ms B. Richardson the rider of CHRISTIES JOY which ran second, the opportunity to view the photo finish image. Ms Richardson was satisfied with the Judges placings and correct weight was subsequently declared by Stewards.
Stewards spoke with Ms C. Rogers the rider of NOVARUPTA, regarding the horse’s seemingly disappointing performance at today’s meeting. Ms Rogers advised Stewards the horse was back in distance and drew a wide barrier which in her opinion contributed to the Mare’s performance.
Ms Rogers advised Stewards she was of the opinion the horse needed a longer journey. Stewards accepted Ms Roger’s explanation and took no further action in relation to this matter,
Race 2: GRACE ARTHUR MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
FLAMBOYANT MISS jumped out and made contact with another runner.
IRISH DARK was bumped by another runner at the start resulting in the horse becoming unbalanced and losing some ground. The Mare appeared to resent the kickback from the track and the rider was forced to shift out significantly and at the 800m point was unable to go the early speed it then drifted back in the field. The Mare travelled well during the middle stages and came into the race strongly and was forced to travel wide over the final stages.
Race 3: ROMA CONTAINERS BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1000M
The start of the race was delayed as SHADOW TALES proved difficult to load and was eventually placed in the barriers riderless. The horse was slow to begin.
POLAR BLITZ shifted out shortly after leaving the barriers.
LAST LAP rider lost her whip at the 200M point.
Stewards spoke to the rider of SHADOW TALES Ms A. Taylor and the Trainer Mr C. Smith regarding the horse’s performance. A warning was placed on the horse due to it being difficult to load. After viewing the start of the race Stewards observed that the inside barrier opened slightly slower than the remaining barriers resulting in SHADOW TALES losing substantial ground at the start.
Race 4: EZYQUIP HIRE CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
HAMILTON was bumped by another runner on jumping.
WONDERFUL WALLY jumped out and made contact with another runner.
JANDY GIRL made contact with the barrier stalls on jumping, which resulted in the horse losing some ground.
Race 5: SENEX ENERGY & RAYNERS BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1640M
MUGMARINO travelled wide throughout
Stewards spoke with the Trainer of CANID Mr G. Richardson in relation to the horse’s poor performance in this event. The horse was examined by the attending Veterinarian after the race resulting in no abnormalities being detected. Mr Richardson was advised to monitor the horse’s condition in the next 48 hours and to report to Stewards should the horse’s condition become worse. Mr Richardson was also reprimanded by Stewards for presenting his horse with incorrect gear. When considering this penalty stewards considered Mr Richardson’s training record and his explanation.
Race 6: THE CELEBRATION COUNTRY SERIES OPEN HANDICAP 1640M
Prior to the running of this event the stable representative for Trainer Mr M Kropp reported to Stewards that BILLY GOAT had hit its head on the tie up stall resulting in blood coming from its right nostril. The horse was examined by the attending Veterinarian and found to have mild trauma to its head and a minor laceration to the inside of the right nostril. The bleeding had stopped and the horse was passed fit to start. A post-race examination was carried out and the horse displayed no ill effects from the trauma and displayed all normal post-race signs.
ELLIE LA VIE was examined by the attending veterinarian due to being severely checked when passing the winning post the first time at the 1300M point and due to a seemingly poor performance. No abnormalities were detected.
ELLIE LA VIE had stumbled at the 1300M point when being checked off the heels of another runner she was then inconvenienced by another runner and lost substantial ground. The Mare then shifted out and inconvenienced another runner, losing further ground.
TESTASCANA shifted about at the 1300M point and was pushed wide by another runner.
CRAWFISH made heavy contact with the inside running rail at the 1300M point and became unbalanced.
BARCELONA BOUND shifted out and inconvenienced another runner.
Stewards enquired into an incident involving the riders of ELLIE LA VIE (App Ms S. Lacey), TESTASCANA (Ms B. Richardson), BARCELONA BOUND (Appr. Ms N. Morton), Ms Lacey’s representative Ms R.Kerwin, and Ms Morton’s representative Mr C. Smith. Stewards heard submissions from all parties and viewed the surveillance footage available to them. Stewards acknowledge that ELLIE LA VIE was positioned two horses off the inside rail when passing the winning post the first time and she appeared to be holding her position. BARCELONA BOUND has travelled up on her inside and crossed over, this resulted in Ms Lacey having to check her mount off the heels of TESTASCANA who had shifted out at that time. It was on or about that point when CRAWFISH hit the inside rail and became unbalanced. ELLIE LA VIE appeared to have stumbled and was non-competitive for the remainder of the race.
When making their decision Stewards considered all the factors involved in this incident. Stewards could not be reasonably satisfied that blame for this incident could be attributed to any one rider and was as a result of a number of incidents on or about the same time. It was the decision of stewards no further action would be taken in relation to this matter.
