RACE 1 MIDWEST RURAL TRADERS MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
GIRLS GIGGLE and WARRIOR OF PEACE raced wide without cover.
NOTHING VENTURED jumped well but was unable to go the early pace and raced in a rearward position before finishing strongly over the concluding stages.
BUCKSTAR raced greenly throughout.
Jockey A Taylor reported that I’M A CAPTAIN did not handle the sand track and raced below expectations.
RACE 2 RSG BENCHMARK 60 HCP 1000M
CARBON TAIKUN was slow to jump and raced wide on the home turn.
SAN DIEGUITO raced wide throughout.
STRENGTH raced greenly for a short distance at 100m.
RACE 3 BRANDON AND ASSOCIATES BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000 M
CONTINUITY was reluctant to go to the barriers causing a short delay.
RHYTHM NATION presented to race with the incorrect head gear, Trainer D Rewald fined $100.00.
RHYTHM NATION slipped on jumping away and lost ground.
KEEP THE CURRENCY raced wide without cover throughout.
WONGARANDA raced widely throughout and was not comfortable on the track.
WASHER hung inwards between 800 m to 600m then moved outwards down the straight.
Apprentice T Germaine questioned concerning the performance of heavily supported favourite SIR GALLEN. Apprentice Germaine reported that SIR GALLEN raced further back than he expected and resented the sand kickback. SIR GALLEN then ran on fairly to the line. Explanation noted.
RACE 4 BENDEMERE CONSTRUCTIONS BENDEMERE CUP PLATE OPEN 1000M
BARCELONA BOUND veered inwards at the jump appearing to strike the running rail. Raced very wide rounding the home turn.
Jockey L Appo reported that his mount BRADY’N’ME put his head down just prior to jumping away causing the gelding to miss the start and race in a rearward position contrary to its normal racing pattern.
RACE 5 HARKER ACCOUNTANTS BENCHMARK 50 HCP 1200M
TEN MORE GRAND slow to jump.
ZAPATA FALLS shifted out on the home turn.
RED BERETTA taken wider on the home turn by a runner to its inside.
On returning to scale appr N Morton the rider of the 5th placed horse IOWNAPRINCE advised stewards that she felt that her horse had finished in front of the 4th placed horse TEN MORE GRAND. After viewing the photo finish it was evident that there was a small but clear margin which placed IOWNAPRINCE in front of TEN MORE GRAND and the original 4th and 5th placings were reversed by the stewards. At a subsequent inquiry into the matter the judge and photo finish operator were instructed on procedures to attempt to ensure that correct placings are posted in future.
