RACE 1 ZONTA MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

SIR LOCKSMITH - Jumped inwards making contact with a runner inside. Overraced when leading in the middle stages.

NATURALLY BLOND - Lost ground when bumped at the start.

AMADEUS LAP - Began awkwardly, baulked and then slow into stride.

SHEZA FIGHTER - Raced very greenly throughout.

FLAMBOYANT MISS - Raced awkwardly and tended to hang out throughout. Bumped slightly with another runner at the 650m.

MISS BONNE - Laid inwards at the 650m.

RACE 2 PAULA LANE MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 60 HCP 1000M

POLAR BLITZ - Wide throughout without cover.

CWMBRAN – When questioned concerning the riding instructions, apprentice S. Lacy advised stewards that she was advised to ride the gelding where it was comfortable and then work home. Apprentice Lacy said that CWMBRAN was slow to stride and in her opinion was not entirely comfortable with the sand surface and therefore her mount took a position several lengths behind the field. She further explained that she then took the horse to the outside at the 550m and finished very strongly over the concluding stages. Stewards noted the explanation.

RACE 3 LEIGH-ANN GOODWIN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 45 HCP 1200M

CRAIG AND PEDRO - Raced keenly at the 750m and was eased slightly from heels.

SCINTILLER - Hung out badly in the early and middle stages despite the efforts of the rider.

EMMAROSE - Taken very wide on the track at the 700m by another runner causing the rider to ease and angle inside of the other runner.

RACE 4 LADIES DAY OPEN HCP 1000M

DOCTOR DAVID - Began awkwardly and threw its head in the air. Shifted out at the 700m and made contact with another runner.

STRENGTH - Slowly away, then raced keenly towards the leaders where it was difficult to settle.

OUTBACK LIGHTNING - Overraced in the middle stages and tended to hang out over the latter stages.

MAN OF DESTINY - Bumped by another runner at the 700m.

ROYAL REWARD – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare had sustained a bowed tendon in the off fore leg. Connections reported it was their intention that the mare be retired immediately, however they were nonetheless advised that should ROYAL REWARD be returned to racing a veterinary clearance would be required.

RACE 5 THE CLUB HOTEL – BATTLE OF ROMAN CLASS B HCP 1400M

DIAMOND RUSH - Jumped outwards at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a bowed tendon in the off fore leg. Connections were advised they would need to provide a veterinary clearance prior to the gelding racing again.

NOTHING VENTURED - Slow to jump and lost ground when another runner jumped outwards.

WASHER - Stewards questioned apprentice T Germaine regarding the performance. Apprentice Germaine said that he led as instructed and he felt that the gelding travelled well until the back straight where WASHER wanted to charge forward. When he tried to steady his mount it dropped the bit and began to the weaken and dropped back. Apprentice Germaine added that in his opinion WASHER may have found the 1640m distance too far. Stewards noted the explanation.
