GENERAL
 
Apprentice N. Morton advised she was unable to claim her full allowance in race one and race three. Apprentice Morton was subsequently replaced on both of rides and was fined $200 for breaching AR. 92(12). Replacements as per Steward’s summary.
 
 
RACE 1: HALL CHADWICK QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m
 
EXCEEDINGLY BRAVE – Slow to begin.
 
WE’RE BLESSED – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside.
 
SEA PRAISE – Raced wide throughout the middle stages.
 
MOHAKA RIVER – Raced wide throughout the middle stages. When shifting in to obtain clear running at the 150m, Apprentice M. Wishart dropped her whip.
 
MI INSTINCT – Raced wide throughout the early and middle stages. 
 
 
RACE 2: STATHAM CHEESMAN BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP – 1000m
 
The start of race two was delayed when SUSSEX STREET reared over in the gates, injuring Apprentice M. Schrapel, and was subsequently scratched on veterinary advice at 2:20pm. Due to the delay with the ambulance attending to Apprentice Schrapel, who was unconscious, stewards ordered that all horses returned to the mounting yard until such time as another ambulance arrived. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in SUSSEX STREET be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the Win #9
6 cents in the dollar for place of winner #9
5 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
7 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4
 
Trainer P. Sexton was advised the horse would need to obtain a series of barrier certificates prior to returning to race.
Apprentice M. Schrapel was replaced on all remaining rides as per the Stewards Summary.
 
DAYTIME DANCER – Began awkwardly.
 
POP’S SON – Slow to begin. Tailed off at the 700m taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer S. McEwan was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
RHYTHM NATION – Raced wide throughout.
 
RACE 3: MORGANS FINANCIAL/BENTLEYS RATINGS BAND 0-45 HANDICAP – 1000m
 
The start of race three was 4:10pm
 
AGUERO - Refused to load. Declared a late scratching by order of the stewards at 4:10pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested in AGUERO be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
7 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
7 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
9 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #6
 
Trainer W. Morris was advised that the gelding would need to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to returning.
 
PARANA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
DENMAN DUDE – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
ZOOMING OVER YOU – Bucked at the 850m, taking no competitive part in the event. Trainer C. Rogers was advised that the gelding would have to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to racing.
 
 
RACE 4: ROYAL ON 99 HOTEL/CARLTON MID OPEN HANDICAP – 1200m
 
HOT VINNI – Raced wide over the concluding stages.
 
FOUR IRON – Raced wide over the concluding stages.
 
LEAVESDEN – Began awkwardly.
 
FAB’S COWBOY – Raced three wide no cover throughout. Apprentice A. Thompson was reminded of his obligation to not perform a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
 
 
RACE 5: TOPX ROMA BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP – 1200m
 
ARLIS – Began awkwardly.
 
SAN SEVERO – Began awkwardly.
 
DESTINY’S DESIRE – Hampered at the start by runners either side.
 
TORONTO FLYER – Began awkwardly. 
 
BOJOURA – Attempted to buck shortly after the start. Trainer C. Rodgers was advised a warning would be placed in the mare.
 
NOTHING TO DANCE – Raced wide throughout.
