GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted Jky N Fazackerly to ride BUDDIE OLLIE in Race 3- +1.5kg due to no other rider being available. Due to the Queensland Ambulance Service having to attend to a patron the start time of Races 4 and 5 were amended to 3.55pm and 4.35pm respectively.
 
Race 1: HALL CHADWICK CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
 
 
JOKIC- Laid out overt the concluding stages of the event and bumped by another runner.
 
HIGHLAND THUNDER- Raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
THE VERESDALE-Bumped JOKIC over the final stages of the event when laying out.
 
DOOBIE RUBY-Dislodged rider in the Mounting yard. Jky B Appo was uninjured in the incident and fit to ride for the remainder of the program. Slow to begin then began to lose ground and weaken from the 500m point. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken due the horse performing below market expectations. This examination detected no abnormalities.
 
SUNNY DAY- B RICHARDSON- Raced four wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 2: STATHAM CHEESMAN BENCHMARK 45 HANDICAP 1000M
 
 
TORONASAURUS REX- Raced three wide for the majority of the event.
 
CANDY DAWN- Dipped as the start.
 
FORGED IN STONE- Slow to begin.
 
EIL’N’ALL- Raced four wide for the majority of the event.
 
HARAMAIN- Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(5) suspended Jky Baker’s licence to ride in races for a period of 7 days for his use of the whip in an excessive manner in totality on 17 occasions 3, more than permitted. His suspension would commence on the 26th of March 2023 up to and including the 1st of April 2023 allowing him to resume race riding on the 2nd of April 2023. Jky Baker was advised of his right to a review against the decision of the Stewards.
 
 
Race 3: CLUB HOTEL ROMA BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1200M
 
 
ELENARA- Slow to begin and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event, then continued to race wide after entering the home turn for the remainder. Appr Jky S Willcock was reprimanded by Stewards for her use of the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 2 more than permitted. Stewards spoke with Trainer S Iverson about the performance today. He advised that he did request the horse have its tail held when in the barriers and felt the horse may have resented this and then missed the start by a considerable margin. Trainer S Iverson was advised by Stewards that a Warning would be placed on the horse.
 
ZUMA- Slow to begin then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Stewards spoke with Appr Jky A Graham regarding the horse performing below market expectations today. Ms. Graham advised that after missing the start it appeared to resent the kick back and despite her attempts to improve it failed to respond. She did add that the horse did finish off the race well over the final stages. Stewards noted her comments.
 
BUDDIE OLLIE- Stewards reprimanded Jky Fazackerly and Trainer Wayne Baker under the provision of AR227(1) for their failure to comply with the overweight policy.
 
 
Race 4: MORGANS MAZARS ROMA PICNICS CLASS 3 PLATE 1000M
 
 
CHESTNUT SCAFFA- Weakened badly from the 400m and ran at the tail of the field from the home turn for the remainder of the event. A post-race Vet examination was undertaken and found to be lame in the right foreleg. Trainer W Baker was advised a Vet Certificate would be required prior to the horse racing again.
 
BARTOS- Slow to begin and then raced keenly from the 900m point for a short distance when being restrained.
 
JOEY JAWS- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
STAYS ON TOUR- Began awkwardly and bumped WINNEBA shortly after the start. Raced at the rear of the field for the early stages then at the 400m point began to improve into the race and ran on strongly over the final stages.
 
WINNEBA- Slow to begin.
 
 
Race 5: WHEN BILL MET SALLY ANNIVERSARY LADIES BRACELET OPEN HANDICAP 1200M
 
 
MENINDEE- APPR A GRAHAM- Stewards acting under the provision of AR210(1) reprimanded Appr Jky Amy Graham for failing to weigh in after the race. In determining penalty Stewards noted Ms Graham’s excellent record in relation to this rule.
 
DEFERENCE- APPR O O’DONNELL- Appr Jky O O’Donnell advised Stewards on returning to scale that the horse failed to finish the race off well despite her best efforts. Stewards noted her comments. Stewards reprimanded Appr O O’Donnell under the provision of AR 143(14)(a) for failing to claim her full allowance.
 
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the photo finish after the Judge/s declared a dead heat for the second placing (NICK THE SKIP and MENINDEE). After speaking with the parties involved and viewing the photo stewards were of the opinion that a margin between MENINDEE and NICK THE SKIP could not be found and agreed with the decision as semaphored by the Judge/s and subsequently declared correct weight on those placings.
