GENERAL
As Jockey J. Bayliss was indisposed, he was replaced by Jockey J. Stanley as the rider of BAMBALAM (Race 2).
 
As Jockey E. Chaves was indisposed, he was replaced by Jockey R. Dolan as the rider of CONSTANT CAFÉ (Race 2).  
 
Race 1: COASTAL STYLE CONSTRUCTIONS MAIDEN PLATE 1400M
LICENCE TO THRILL – Slow to begin.
 
CHERBOURG – Held up for clear running approaching the 400m and until approaching the 200m.
 
STPETERSCATHEDRAL – Slow to begin. Over raced in the early stages and as a result shifted wider near the 1000m to avoid heels and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
TEMPER THE STORM – Raced wide.
 
FORBIDDEN APPLE – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide.
 
Race 2: DOUBLE R THOROUGHBREDS BM65 HANDICAP         1400M
BAMBALAM – Shifted wider at the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
CONSTANT CAFÉ – Began awkwardly.
 
Race 3: ACCESS INSULATION SUNSHINE COAST CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1400M
NIGHTSTICK –After the race it was noted that the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
 
DUSTYIAM – Raced wide from the 900m. Jockey N. Tomizawa reported his saddle shifted forward near the 1000m placing him at a disadvantage from that point onwards.
 
WASSA – Slow to begin and lost ground. Held up for clear running from the 400m until leaving the 300m.
 
Race 4: BOSS BUILDING MAINTENANCE BM58 HANDICAP         1600M
MR DUDWEY – After the race it was noted that the gelding had lost its off fore plate.
 
REDENTE CHOICE – Tightened on jumping and lost ground. Forced wider near the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
SEERESS – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 600m until leaving the 400m. Jockey A. Thompson’s pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR 131(a) in that approaching the 200m, Jockey A. Thompson directed his mount RUDIMENTARY inwards to the inside of ASTERN VILLA where there was insufficient room to do so, forcing BLUE SWIMMER to shift in tightening the rightful running of SEERESS causing that runner to be tightened for room, checked and lose ground. Jockey A. Thompson’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period of twelve (12) days commencing midnight Saturday 30 March 2024 to midnight Thursday 11 April 2024.
 
BLUE SWIMMER – Forced wider near the 1200m and raced wide until assuming the lead near the 1000m.
 
KASEAR – Shifted wider from the 700m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
RUDIMENTARY – After being caught wide in the early stages, was ridden forward to a position in the lead near the 1200m. Had difficulty securing clear running from the 300m until near the 200m after shifting to the inside of ASTERN VILLA. After the race it was noted that the gelding had lost its off hind plate. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained lacerations to its off hind consistent with being galloped on.
 
Race 5: GO TRANSIT MEDIA GROUP BM62 HANDICAP         1100M
DIVINE OKAY – Laid out under pressure over the final 200m.
 
IRON POWER – Near the 600m, hung out and was obliged to steady from the heels of BEST SONG.
 
ONE IN ALL – Over raced for a short distance approaching the 800m. Near the 500m, steadied from the heels of IRON POWER.
 
BEST SONG – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: TAB BM55 HANDICAP    1000M
TOW THE LINE – Forced wider after passing the 800m and raced wide from that point onwards.
 
TORQUE ABOUT MAGIC – Jockey M. Rodd was fined $500 pursuant to AR 132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip eight (8) times prior to the 100m, three (3) more than permitted.
 
TANTRUMS – Slow to begin.
 
Race 7: OCEANVIEW HELICOPTERS MAIDEN PLATE      1000M
ALKENTER – Raced wide.
 
BELDEVILE – Jockey A. Thompson reported his mount did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event and attributed this to receiving kickback from the other runners. He further added he was struck in the mouth with a clod near the 500m before directing his mount wider approaching the 400m. Jockey A. Thompson was examined by the club doctor and was cleared of any injuries. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities.
 
BECAMO – Held up rounding the home turn and until leaving the 300m.
 
BROONZY– Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
PRINCE OF PROPHETS – Slow to begin.
 
BE CAREFUL – Raced wide.
 
RUBOS – Slow to begin. Raced wide.
