SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From SCTC, 31.5.15

Race 4. Trainer A. Williamson was fined the sum of $200 for failing to effect a gear change to remove the Norton bit from the gear of Everyday Hero.

Race 8. THREE BEERS PLEASE. Trainer L. Birchley reported to stewards that a blood test performed subsequent to this event found the horse to have an elevated white blood cell count, which upon veterinary advice could explain the horse’s disappointing performance. Stewards advised Mr Birchley that a satisfactory blood test must be provided prior to the horse being permitted to start again.

Race 1: Oxford Landing Estate Wines Maiden Plate – 1000m

OUR LILLY ROSE - Which was fractious in the enclosure and reared over was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Finished a distant last and raced ungenerously throughout the event. Trainer J. Johnson was advised that the horse would be barred from TAB venues until its form improves.

CONILAD – After being ridden vigorously in the early stages in an attempt to obtain the lead, was then unable to cross horses to its inside and as a result raced significantly wide throughout.

WAR HAMMER – Raced wide throughout and was taken wider by another runner after leaving the 600m. Rider T. Harrison reported to stewards that her mount raced greenly and was field shy when weakening over the final 400m. A post race veterinary examination revealed an abrasion to the near-side hock.

SKY FELLOW – Hung out after passing the 600m and continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight, resulting its rider being unable to fully test the gelding. A post race veterinary examination of revealed lameness in the off fore leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided and the gelding must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start.

JEWELLERY THIEF – Rider M. McGuren was reprimanded for being overweight. Stewards permitted G. Goold as the replacement rider. Stewards asked jockey G. Goold to comment on the performance of the horse. He indicated that the filly enjoyed a favourable run and upon entering the home straight was afforded clear running and, in his opinion, was disappointing in the run to the line. He added that, in his view, the horse would be better suited to races over longer distances.

MOE’S TAVERN – A post race veterinary examination revealed a small amount of blood in its near-side nostril and the horse was stepping short in its near hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to its next race start and the gelding must gallop over 1000m before being permitted to race again.

LONHIE ROCKS – When asked to comment on the performance, rider B. Grylls advised that from the wide barrier she intended to progress forward but the gelding was unable to must sufficient speed and was obliged to take up a trailing position at the tail of the field. She added that, in her opinion, her mount did not finish the race off well as anticipated and hung in under pressure in the home straight.


Race 2: Jansz Ratings Band 0-75 H'cap – 1400m

LAUTERBRUNNEN – Had difficulty securing clear running from the 450m until leaving the 300m.

NEUSCHWANSTEIN – A veterinary examination of the horse on arrival at the barriers revealed a small abrasion on the near fore fetlock. The horse was cleared to start.

ELLAWISDOM – When asked to comment on the performance, jockey J. Byrne indicated that the horse began well and with hindsight he felt he would have been better served riding in a more forward position but as the horse’s pattern of racing is racing back in the field he settled at the rear, however the slow pace set in the middle stages did not suit the mare’s pattern of racing and this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance.

WALHAAN – Rider T. Bell was reprimanded for raising his whip hand above shoulder height.






Race 3: Hill Smith Family Vineyards Maiden H'cap – 1400m

POINT – Trainer B. Currie was fined $200 for making application to alter the hose’s gear after the permitted time. The horse was permitted by stewards to race without a cross-over noseband which had been advertised in the horse’s gear. Rider E. Ljung was reprimanded for excessive use of the whip in a backhand manner in the home straight.

PROSPECTING – Jumped away awkwardly and lost significant ground.

UNIQUE PEARL – Jumped away awkwardly and lost significant ground. Lost off hind plate in running

BIG GREEN PONY – Was extremely wide in the early and middle stages and was ridden forward to a position outside the lead passing the 600m and was still 3 wide without cover.

CARRIED FORWARD – Had difficulty obtaining clear running rounding the home turn.

EYE OF HORUS – Obliged to alter course to secure clear running after passing the 100m.

FALVELON’S TOFT – Raced wide without cover.

NICELY NICELY – Raced wide without cover.


Race 4: Angas QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1000m

The start of this race was delayed when FREEZETHEMILLIONS required its near fore plate to be reattached behind the barriers.

MY MAISIE – Slow to begin. Leaving the 700m was steadied when racing in restricted room between runners.

HEART COMMAND – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground at the start.

NIGHT RITUALS – Laid in under pressure in the home straight, causing its rider to put his whip away and straighten over the concluding stages.

KHALEESI – Laid out under pressure in the home straight and inconvenienced another runner leaving the 200m. Rider T. Harrison was issued with a reprimand for failing to stop riding and straighten her mount when shifting ground.

FREEZETHEMILLIONS – Inconvenienced leaving the 200m. When asked to comment on the disappointing performance of the filly, rider B. Grylls indicated that when her horse was being replated behind the barriers it started to sweat up badly and this may have had an effect on its overall performance. She added however that the horse travelled well until the home straight, however when asked for an effort proved disappointing. She added that the filly was somewhat inconvenienced by another runner near the 300m, however she did not feel this had a significant effect on its performance. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

JESSELTON – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: Bruce McLachlan Memorial Class 5 H'cap – 1800m

TAMPERE – Slow to begin.

KING OF JACKS – Raced wide in the early stages and was allowed to stride forward to a position outside the lead passing the 1200m.

BARGE AND CHARGE – Overraced in the early stages and shifted wider for a short distance near the 1200m.

SATIRICAL BOY – Approaching the 1000m was crowded for room and had to be steadied, losing ground.

QABLA – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 100m and was obliged to alter course.


Race 6: Patchwork Shiraz F&M Ratings Band 0-70 H'cap – 1200m

LAUGH A LITTLE – Slow to begin. Held up for clear running over the final 100m.

LUXTON DEEPING – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages.

DARK ANGEL – Overraced in the early stages.

LILY MY GIRL – Altered course to secure clear running approaching the 200m.


Race 7: Yalumba Wines Considerable ground&E Ratings Band 0-70 H'cap – 1200m

CHEAPSKATER – As the start was effected, turned its head to the side and lost considerable ground. Overraced approaching the 800m. Held up for clear running passing the 200m.

GREAT INAGUA – Commenced to overrace approaching the 1000m and improved onto the heels of MEZZANOTTE, which was being restrained in an attempt to obtain cover. As a result of this, GREAT INAGUA raced very ungenerously, shifted in and made contact with SMASHER. Continued to overrace until approaching the 800m.

SMASHER – Inconvenienced by another runner approaching the 1000m.

OMISSION – When the rider was attempting to settle the gelding it commenced to hang out and did so until passing the 600m and was obliged to check from heels.

STAR DRAGON – Raced without cover until approaching the 600m.

MEZZANOTTE – Raced wide throughout.
