Race 1: Fresh PR & Marketing QTIS 3yo Maiden Plate – 1600m

The start was delayed when the surcingle on NEW LAD RISING had to be replaced.

FLINDERS DRAGON – Slow to begin. Hampered over the concluding stages by another runner.

ESSO BESSO – Raced in restricted room rounding the home turn for a short distance and made contact with the running rail when JERRYVIL shifted in.

EYE OF HORUS – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.

CIDARIS – Jockey L. Rolls reported that the gelding did not handle the rain affected track conditions and did not travel well at any stage throughout the event. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Race 2: Prodigy Promotional Merchandise & Workwear Maiden H'cap – 1300m

UNIQUE TOMMY – Overraced in the early stages.

ENEMY’S DEFEATED – Overraced in the early stages.

MRS BOOLE – Shifted out away from heels passing the 900m when overracing badly and in doing so made heavy contact with another runner. Then continued to overrace and raced 3 wide without cover outside the lead. A warning was placed on the horse regarding its racing manners.

SIR EARLSTOUN – As L. Rolls was to be overweight, T. Brooker was substituted as the rider of the horse. Jockey L. Rolls was fined $100. Bumped heavily passing the 900m and forced wider on the track, racing 3 wide without cover for the remainder of the event.

BLOOMIN’ ELUSIVE – Shifted in of its own accord after passing the 400m and made contact with the running rail.

TOLDYASO - When questioned regarding the performance, jockey B. Pengelly stated that, in his opinion, the gelding was not comfortable in today’s heavy track conditions, and this, together with the 59 kilogram impost, were telling factors in the horse’s overall performance. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding would benefit from today’s race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

ALFIE JUNIOR – Jockey B. Stewart was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.


Race 3: Kawana Chamber of Commerce and Industry Class 4 H'cap – 1200m

CHEAPSKATER – Put its head down as the start was effected, almost dislodging its rider before beginning very awkwardly.

HELL’S KITCHEN – Tailed off and proved uncompetitive. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised that the horse would be barred from TAB venues until its form improves at non TAB venues.

Race 4: Aqua Blue Plumbing Maiden Plate – 1000m

EXCESSIVELY GOOD – Apprentice M. Powell was fined $250 for failing to claim his full allowance. Raced 3 wide throughout.

RECOLETA – Slow to begin.

DARK CHARM – Slow to begin.

NEWS EDITOR – Steadied away from heels near the 600m when tightened for room by another runner. As a result of this incident, M. Hellyer, rider of DREAMWARD BOUND, was reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.

DEVINE HARRY – Overraced after passing the 800m and improved into a position where there was doubtful room, causing its rider to check away from heels and lose ground.


Race 5: Telstra Store Kawana Class 3 Plate – 1000m

MENACING – Bounded in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. Connections were advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners. Disappointed for clear running in the home straight near the 200m resulting in its rider having to stop riding and shift out to obtain clear running.

TRUE PASSION – Tightened for room shortly after the start between runners. A post race veterinary examination found the horse to have a poor post race recovery and in a distressed state.

PEZENAS – Tightened for room shortly after the start between runners.

HELLO AL – Placed in restricted room near the 900m and had to be steadied. B. Stewart, rider Louisiana Rouge, was reprimanded for shifting in when not clear. Was obliged to check when tightened for room between runners leaving the 700m. Jockey B. Pengelly, rider of TRUE PASSION, was reprimanded for shifting in when insufficiently clear.

SUPERSTITION – Placed in restricted room near the 900m and had to be steadied.


Race 6: HRM Contracting & Consulting Class 1 H'cap – 1600m

STAINER – Slow to begin. Raced 4 wide from the 1200m until approaching the 600m.

MORINGAS MO JO – Improved onto heels and had to be restrained leaving the 1000m. Forced to steady and shift wider near the 450m. Apprentice S. Fawke was severely reprimanded for shifting ground when not sufficiently clear.

ARDROVA – Forced 3 wide passing the 800m and raced without cover from that point onwards. Shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages making heavy contact with another runner.

ONEMORE FOR NAARA – Shifted ground under pressure over the concluding stages, making heavy contact with another runner.

SEA CRUISE – Raced wide without cover before improving and taking up a position one off the fence passing the 800m.

BALAKLAVA – Steadied from the heels of SEA CRUISE near the 800m, which shifted in.

VINE – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages, causing its rider to top riding and straighten on 2 occasions.


Race 7: Battery Wise Class 2 H'cap – 1400m

NEXT MINUTE – Overraced at heels shortly after being crossed approaching the 800m and shifted wider and raced 3 wide until assuming the lead leaving the 600m. Apprentice T. Williams was questioned regarding her riding of the horse and as to why she did not allow her mount to stride forward and lead earlier than she did. She stated she felt the horse was travelling comfortably and would settle further with cover, however her mount overraced and she was not able to restrain it sufficiently to remain travelling behind the leader. Miss Williams was advised by stewards that her ride lacked judgement and that stewards intend to draw this ride to the attention of Racing Queensland Training Department.

SPEEDY GRAPHITO – Raced 3 wide without cover.

SO QUICK – Raced wide.

LA FEMME FATALE – Had some difficulty obtaining clear running between the 400m and 300m.

NORTHERN WARRIOR – Rider M. Hellyer reported his mount laid out under pressure in the home straight.


Race 8: Think Money Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

No racing incidents.
