As L. Tarrant was ill and S. Fawke was injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Race 1: BRIGHTWATER HOTEL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M

SHOW A FLICK – Reared as the start was effected and lost ground. Laid out rounding the home turn and continued to race greenly and lay out under pressure in the home straight.

LET THE TIGER ROAR – After being bumped by the runner to its outside approaching the 600m, became very awkward, shifted in, made contact with the running rail and lost significant ground.

MARGUERITA EXPRESS – Raced wide throughout.

MRS BOOLE – Raced wide without cover.

BLOOMIN’ ELUSIVE – Commenced to overrace leaving the 900m. Apprentice T. Williams shifted her mount wider around heels and forced another runner wider at that point. Apprentice Williams was reprimanded for shifting ground when not clear.

STOCKY LADY – Raced wide without cover.

MUSTANG JACK – Jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Race 2: BELLVISTA TAVERN MAIDEN PLATE – 1600M

CARRY FORWARD – Had to alter course near the 350m and again near the 250m to secure clear running.

ROYAL EVENT – Forced wider on the track approaching the 800m, then raced wide without cover from that point onwards.

EXCELLENT WINNER – Jumped away awkwardly with its head in the air and lost ground.

GROBBELAAR – Forced wider on the track approaching the 800m, then raced wide without cover from that point onwards.

TEEKAYO – Shifted out to improve approaching the 800m and in doing so forced other runners wider on the track.

ASHULUPA – Slow to begin and lost ground.

Race 3: COOROY HOTEL QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1000M

As apprentice M. Wood was to be overweight, apprentice S. Eilbeck was substituted as the rider of DRUMBEAT’S CHOICE. Apprentice Wood was fined $100.

MISHANI HONCHO – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Steadied when tightened for room leaving the 700m. When questioned, apprentice B. Ainsworth advised stewards that she felt the horse carrying top weight on a heavy track and being first up from a spell may have had a bearing on the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

TAILLEVENT – Inconvenienced on jumping away and lost ground. Inconvenienced and forced wider rounding the home turn. When asked to comment on the performance, K. Wharton indicated that as the horse was stepping back to 1000m in today’s event, he was instructed to have the horse ridden with cover as the horse overraced badly at its last start. He indicated that after his mount received interference at the start, he was positioned at the tail of the field and he attempted to have the horse settle in this position, however approaching the 600m the horse again overraced and he was obliged to shift three wide to avoid heels. Following this he was obliged to race three wide throughout the event before being forced wider rounding the home turn and he was pleased with the horse’s finishing effort.

ELUSIVE ELEMENT – Raced greenly in the early stages and then hung out until entering the home straight.

GOOD TO BE GREAT – Inconvenienced and forced wider rounding the home turn.

INFINITE SUCCESS – Inconvenienced on jumping away.

Race 4: XXXX GOLD BM80 H’CAP – 1000M

REMAGEN BRIDGE – Tightened for room at the start between runners.

Race 5: BUNDABERG RUM CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1000M

MONOCHROME – Began awkwardly. J. Byrne reported that the gelding returned to scale with blood in its mount after making contact with the barriers on jumping away. He added that the performance could be attributed to being top weight and in his opinion the horse did not handle the rain-affected conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be agitated post-race and showing signs of thumps.

RED HOT DREAM – Raced wide throughout.

ANOTHER WHISKEY – Raced wide throughout.

ZEFFIRETTA – Slow to begin.

Race 6: YALUMBA CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1800M

RECKLESS ABANDON – D. Browne reported that from the wide alley, in order to obtain cover he was obliged to steady to the tail of the field in the early stages.

BELDAN – Laid in rounding the home turn.

NOSUBFORLUCK – Steadied shortly after the start when inconvenienced by another runner.

QABLA – Laid in rounding the home turn.

DARYL’S RUN – Overraced in the middle stages.

TUMBLING AL – Underwent a veterinary examination at the barriers at the request of the rider and cleared to start. Hung out throughout the event.

Race 7: PARKLANDS TAVERN CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M

Correct weight was delayed to enable D. Browne, the rider of 2nd placegetter DO NOT GO GENTLE, to view the stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether he had grounds on which to lodge an objection against the winner REVACIOUS. After viewing the videos, D. Browne declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared.

LOCKIEBE – Tightened for room shortly after the start and lost ground.

POMPEII FLYER – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

Race 8: CELLARBRATIONS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1400M

CARRY TO GOLD – T. Harrison reported that her mount was disappointing, in her opinion, in that it travelled well through the middle stages and then failed to respond to her riding in the home straight.

FAICONI – Disappointed for a run after passing the 600m when attempting to secure clear running between runners and had to be steadied and shifted back to the inside. When asked to comment on the performance, M. Hellyer indicated that the horse had travelled well throughout the race, however was very disappointing in the run to the line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
