GENERAL

As R. Johnston-Bell and M. Bennett were injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.

Apprentice S. Lisnyy was fined $100 for having a mobile phone in his possession in the jockeys’ room.

Apprentice S. Payne was fined $200 for failing to produce his winning rides book.

Race 1: COCA COLA ZERO MAIDEN PLATE – 1400M

CRIMSON GOD – Slow to begin.

SILENCE IS AVIRTUE – Trainer K. Schweida advised that the horse would be ridden back in the field, in contrast to its usual pattern of racing. The horse was ridden accordingly.

GALLIVANTING – When asked to explain the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer M. Mair indicated that the horse’s first start this preparation was over an unsuitable distance, being 1000m, and he was disappointed with the horse’s most recent start, however the rider had indicated that the horse had shown a tendency to be somewhat field shy. He indicated that today’s performance was somewhat surprising as he had not expected such a forward showing.

Race 2: MOUNT FRANKLIN BM80 H’CAP – 1600M

WRITER – Had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the home straight.

PIAMIMI – Found to have a small amount of blood in the nearside nostril post-race, which was deemed to have been as a result of external trauma as there was a small laceration in the nostril.

HOW FAIRDINKUM – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Trainer B. Smith indicated that he will discuss the horse’s racing future with connections.

Race 3: POWERADE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1200M

FLYING LABELLE – Tightened for room at the start and had to be steadied. Raced greenly throughout the event and near the 900m shifted in making heavy contact with the running rail, causing the rider to check his mount and lose ground. Trainer K. Schweida was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse’s racing manners.

JACK BE FAST – Trainer K. Anderson was fined $100 for an lodging an incomplete stable return. Raced very greenly in the early stages and from the 800m hung out commenced to weaken, taking no competitive part in the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Connections were advised that the horse must trial satisfactorily before being permitted to start again.

KING ARCHER – Slow into stride. Steadied as a consequence of interference which occurred forward of that runner passing the 900m and then raced greenly for the remainder of the event.

MR MAGPIE – Late scratching at 11:15 am for veterinary reasons. Trainer D. Bougoure was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary certificate for the horse.

DODGE THE PRESS – Inconvenienced on jumping away and again obliged to race in restricted room near the 1100m and had to be steadied.

LIBELULA – Trainer T. Hall was fined $200 for failing to declare B. Grylls as the rider of this runner by the prescribed time.

LADY ATHENA – Inconvenienced on jumping away.

MYSTICAL TALE – Shifted out in the home straight near the 200m to secure clear running and had to be steadied from the heels of FLYING LABELLE and raced greenly for some distance thereafter.

LOCA DA VIDA – Jumped away awkwardly, making heavy contact with another runner.

Race 4: GOULBURN VALLEY MAIDEN H'CAP – 1000M

BUBBA BASSANO – Inconvenienced on jumping away. Bled from both nostrils, first time. Ineligible to race for 3 months and prior to resuming racing must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.

FOUR EXCEL – Jumped away awkwardly.

ANGELO MIO – Inconvenienced on jumping away.

LOUPPY RULER – Inconvenienced on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.

DREAMWARD BOUND – Jumped away awkwardly.

TRIPLE WON – Steadied near the 400m when inconvenienced by another runner. Apprentice T. Brooker (MAGIC BABE NING) was advised to exercise more care.

MAGIC BABE NING – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner. Apprentice T. Brooker reported that her mount hung out from the 600m.

MOSITES – Hung out from leaving the 600m until entering the home straight, then continued to lay out in the home straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage.

PURE FETISH – Raced wide throughout.

Race 5: MAKERS MARK CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1000M

BOER – Weakened in the home straight. Jockey A. Best reported that the horse was awkward in its action over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

HOT SNIPPETY – Jumped away awkwardly, made contact with another runner and lost ground. Obliged to race in restricted room passing the 700m.

TURBO TEDDY – The start of this race was delayed when the horse got its off foreleg caught on the barrier partition, underwent a veterinary inspection and was cleared to take its place in the field. Inconvenienced and forced wider over the concluding stages. A. Taylor, the rider of LOADED AND READY, was reprimanded for failing to stop riding and straighten.

LOADED AND READY – Jumped away awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 6: CANADIAN CLUB CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200M

BE THE MAGIC – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground and as a result raced further back in the field than anticipated.

DON’T PASS GEORGIA – Trainer N. McCall was fined $100 for failing to declare P. Hammersley as the rider of this runner by the prescribed time. Raced wide throughout. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and until approaching the 200m.

STONECAST – Overraced near the 900m and shifted in, inconveniencing another runner, then continued to overrace and after passing the 800m steadied away from heels and shifted wider on the track, racing 4 wide from that point onwards.

DAZZLING GIRL – Raced wide without cover.

BALDY HOST – Lost its off fore plate in running.

FRISCO JOE – Overraced near the 900m and then when placed in restricted room had to be checked. Apprentice B. Ainsworth was reprimanded for permitting her mount to shift out after passing the winning post, causing another runner to be checked.

BILBERRY STAR – Jumped away awkwardly and made contact with another runner.

ASTRALIN – Tightened for room at the start and lost ground.

Race 7: COCA COLA AMATIL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1400M

CANNY BE FAMOUS – Slow to begin.

JUST KEEP GIVING – R. Wiggins reported it had not been his intention to lead, however in the early stages he pressured the horse slightly to improve past another runner and as a result the horse overraced badly from that point onwards.

Race 8: JIM BEAM CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1600M

GOOD INTENTIONS – Steadied from the heels of another runner near the 500m.

PATRIARCH – Had to be checked from heels and lost ground after passing the 500m when tightened for room by another runner.

JUPITER PALM – Overraced in the early stages.

ALFIE JUNIOR – Momentarily held up passing the 500m.

VINE – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer J. Wallace was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinary clearance for the horse prior to it being permitted to race again.

SHUKRIYA – Tightened for room passing the 500m and when restrained overreacted badly and shifted in abruptly, inconveniencing another runner. However, J. Taylor, the rider of SAVVY GIRL, was reprimanded for shifting out when not sufficiently clear.

ARDROVA – Significantly slow to begin.

MORINGAS MO JO – As apprentice S. Payne had been stood down by the Club doctor, T. Williams was substituted as the rider of this runner. Apprentice T. Williams reported that the gelding overraced in the early stages and she was unable to restrain the horse, causing her to hold a significant lead during the middle stages and this also had a detrimental effect on the horse’s overall performance.

NORTHERN WARRIOR – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide for the majority of the event without cover.
